Since childhood, I’ve occasionally experienced something at night that I’ve never fully understood. I’m not claiming it’s paranormal or a glitch in reality. I’m genuinely curious whether anyone has experienced something similar.
When I was younger, I used to wake up around 3 AM almost every night, often after nightmares. Eventually, I became so accustomed to it that I’d anticipate waking up around that time before going to sleep.
The part that has always confused me is what happens when I try to fall asleep again.
My mother snores, and I can sometimes hear footsteps from the apartment upstairs. These are familiar sounds in my home. But on certain nights, everything seems completely silent when I wake up.
Then, as I’m drifting off again, I start hearing my mother’s snoring. It sounds exactly like her normal snoring, seemingly coming from my parents’ bedroom. Sometimes I hear footsteps, too.
What’s strange is the timing.
The snoring seems to begin at a normal volume, then gradually gets louder as I become sleepier. When I become more alert and focus on the sound, it seems to fade. When I start relaxing and feel myself drifting off again, it grows louder.
It’s almost as if the perceived volume follows my level of consciousness.
I’ve tried deliberately pretending to fall asleep while remaining awake, and I remember hearing the sound during that attempt as well. I was frightened to get up and investigate, so I can’t claim that I verified the source of every occurrence.
I know auditory experiences can happen around the transition between wakefulness and sleep. I’m open to that explanation, but the recurring timing is what has always puzzled me.
This isn’t about hearing random, unfamiliar noises. It’s the fact that the sounds are so familiar and seem to follow this particular pattern.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Specifically, have you ever noticed familiar environmental sounds becoming more prominent as you drift off and fading as you become more alert?
I’m interested in genuine experiences and reasonable explanations. I’m not trying to prove anything supernatural; I just want to understand whether other people have experienced this same pattern.

Ok so the first 2 times I went to look inside the dryer and didn’t see the rug, I thought to myself “I should take a picture because this is crazy” but I didn’t.

This happened last week, I like to clean my bathroom sometimes before I shower, so I wiped everything down and while cleaning up I put my 2 bathroom floor rugs in the washer. When there done in the wash I put them in the dryer. One is a fluffy purple rug and the other is a medium towel I put down over the purple rug to step on when I get out.

I hear the dryer timer go off and when I went to get the rugs out, it was only the green one. I’m like wtf. My brother was there so I thought well maybe he’s gonna take a shower and took the rug out for himself. So I ask him “ hey did you take out the purple rug” he says no. So I go back in the basement, open the dryer damn near stick my head inside the dryer and put my arm in to feel around, atp I’m thinking maybe it got stuck at the top or something. BUT NO! THATS when I thought to myself i should take a pic of the inside of the dryer because this is crazy wtf. But I don’t. I go look alll around the house thinking maybe I put it down somewhere ( I knew I didn’t but I had to look everywhere for the sake of my mental and you know where the heck did it go). Now my brothers helping me look but only place he didn’t look was the dryer ( just for context)

I checked that dryer atleast 7 times. About 20 min later I’m going up and down looking everywhere, I look in the dryer and the door is wide open with the purple rug just sitting right there in the flipping dryer 😳. No one was playing a trick on me and my brother had been upstairs the entire time. I get really emotional when I think about now because wtf, first thing I thought was does my dryer have a vortex inside of it or is something messing with me. Because I KNOW THAT PURPLE RUG WAS NOT IN THAT DRYER FOR ABOUT 20-30 min and then it just popped back in there. Idk but yea I can’t stop thinking about and I’m someone that does a load of laundry atleast once every two days I can’t stop thinking about it.

Has anyone ever had this happen before?

Before you guys huddle in the comments concerned about my mental health- no I am not unwell. I do not have or had Schizophrenia, my home’s Carbon Monoxide levels are healthy and I had no significant trauma that caused me what I’m about to tell you.  

This happened about 6 months ago. I have pondered every single day since putting together every single memory and evidence of my husband’s existence. My husband is my everything. We got married about 2 years ago after dating for 8 years- since high school. I saw him grow right in front of my eyes. So did he. I have touched his face, kissed everywhere on it in every phase of our togetherness. I know when he got acne, I know when it started clearing up, I know when his peach fuzz started growing thicker all of a sudden, I KNOW EVERY DETAIL OF HIS FACE, HIS BEING WITH MY EYES CLOSED. Oh God I am so frustrated! I fell in love with this face and this very face haunts me now. He has beautiful wavy hair, big dark brown doe eyes, thin lips, and a chubby face. 

Now back to 6 months ago. It’s a weekend. The warm sunlight hit my face. Around this time my husband and I usually have a lighter sleep, we both consciously cuddle and he pulls me close to him inside his huggiest, softest arms. I remember enjoying every bit of it. I started feeling his face while he buried it in my neck. When I ran my fingers by his jawline, I said, “Damn shawty, you outmogging me today.” (Ik cringe, ik ik). He laughed low and lazy. I felt slightly alarmed, his voice sounded a bit different. I thought he just had a bit of cold and ignored. I said again “ No fr it feels sharp. Maybe you don’t have to start working out at all.” He did not respond. Just dug his face deeper and and started breathing heavy. We slept for 2 more hours. I woke up with his kiss, my eyes still closed. He was asking if I want to shower together. I told him to set up the bathrooom with towels while I get up slowly. When I opened my eyes, my heart skipped a beat for a quick second as I glanced at him walking into the bathroom. I only saw him for a second before he went in. He looked so different.  

I blamed foggy morning brain and got up and stretched. I grabbed my phone to check the time real quick. I felt shocked. The man in my lockscreen, smiling at me was someone else- A completely different person. This man had completely kinky curly hair, full lips, hazel eyes and dimples on a chiseled face- almost uncanny looking. I stood there holding my phone for a minute. My husband from inside the bathroom started calling me, “Hun, you coming? I’m done taking a dump!” I start panicking but think this is a stupid prank of his. I asked him “Baby haha funny but seriously who is this man in my phone?” as I walked inside the bathroom. I felt my whole body, every single cell stand up. The man sitting inside the bathroom waiting for me was not my baby, my love. He’s the same man as my lockscreen. I started to back off, he saw my face and got extremely worried. He asked me what happened and I didn’t respond. I ran out of the bathroom to the living room where another shock was waiting for me. Our huge wedding pic that was hanging on the wall had that strange man and me in it! I opened my phone and started to skim through the gallery. EVERY SINGLE PICTURE IS THAT MAN AND NOT MY HUSBAND. How did his face change overnight? Am I okay? Am I losing it? Am I pregnant so my hormones are making me messy? I started thinking every little to big possibilities. He came running after me to the living room a couple seconds later. Who is this man? He looked different, sounded different. However, the same loving, endearing tone.  

I realized something was seriously wrong and I had to cool my head first before I told anyone about what had just happened. He came and hugged me and I hugged him back skeptically. I told him I had a bad dream and kind of carried it along in real life half asleep.  

Over the next few days, I figured out the only thing that’s different in him from my husband was just how he looked and sounded. Everything else about him was the same. My heart started convincing my brain at one point that this was the same person. My brain kept me alert. I had been to his parents’ place more times than the whole duration of our marriage just to snoop around. Let’s say this man I am currently living with somehow abducted my real husband and replaced every digital and printed pics in my phone and house with his face. The only hope was the very old album pics that my mother-in-law had- categorized in different album books. I went to her one day without my supposed husband. After a bit, I asked her to bring out all the albums to revisit memories. I had my heart beating so fast while I was holding the first album book. I was hoping and praying that the pics showed my actual loml’s face.  

I think I am losing my mind and I cannot tell anyone. I only confided in my friend after holding it in for months. She is empathetic towards it but I don’t think she believes me- I don’t blame her. I told her how my husband’s childhood pictures turned out to be a smaller version of that uncanny fuck. Even the picture that had spilled coffee mark in the back of him holding dandelions is the same exact pic, just the younger version of the other man, not my husband. She, just like anyone else in this fuckface world, told me my love always looked like that and that something happened to me. It breaks me every time I think of distancing myself from that man in my mind- what if he is actually my baby? He behaves like my husband, talks like him, takes care of melike him, DOES EVEYTHING LIKE HIM. WHAT IF THIS MAN IS HIM? What if I am just stuck in a bad dream and unintentionally pushing my love away from me? I got x-rays of my brain to ensure I do not have anything funky inside. Came out all positive. I am okay. Then what? I just want some outside perspective, some comfort from strangers.

Ok so a lot of really strange personal things have been happening to me and everything just feels generally unsettling. The other day I had a full mental breakdown because I swear on my life I bought boots five years ago that had the brand advertised on the front — but when I put them on the other day, the brand name was different. For context it’s a brand called “See By Chloe” and I SWEAR the tag always said See By Chloe on three separate lines. Now it says “SeeBy Chloe” and it’s making me feel insane. I checked a picture of me from two years ago and the logo is how it is now but I really really feel like it wasn’t always like that.

Strange events as I mentioned have occurred to me and it’s making me question reality.
Also I was recently inadvertently around a lot of tech and military people. I’m not schizophrenic but it’s making me feel like nothing is real.

I think I accidentally stepped into a parallel universe, and I only realized something was wrong because of John Cena. Everything was completely normal. The world, the people, the news, the movies, everything. Then, at some point, I came across the story of John Cena, who apparently used to be a mid-card WWE wrestler before getting fired in 2006. He then got cast as Captain America in 2011 and went on to become one of the biggest Hollywood stars in the world. Now here’s where things got weird: I distinctly remembered John Cena being one of the biggest WWE superstars ever, so I Googled him, expecting to find the same history I knew. But in this reality, that version of his career apparently never existed. His wrestling career was insignificant compared to his Hollywood success. I remember feeling confused because everyone else seemed to know this as common knowledge. Nobody thought it was strange. I even recently saw a promo for Street Fighter featuring him as Guile, which somehow fits perfectly into this version of his life. The bizarre thing is that I didn’t question anything else about the world. It all felt completely ordinary until this one detail made me realize something was off. And then I woke up. This wasn’t just some random, nonsensical scenario my brain threw together. It felt like I had genuinely been living in another version of reality, with its own history, where everything made sense except for the fact that John Cena’s life had unfolded differently. Because the unsettling part is that I didn’t realize I was dreaming until the end.

I have a small 5.5 gallon tank. I bought six guppies. Half of them were still juveniles, so still small, like half the size. Had them about two weeks, they got a little bigger, although one seemed to be struggling a tad at times, and just wasn’t as active as the others. A few days go by and I notice two babies (probably a day old) swimming in the top plants. Only two. Usually they give birth to 21-30+, to be fair the bigger fish could have gotten most of them before I noticed. I then noticed two of my male guppies missing.

This is especially odd because neither of the female guppies looked pregnant at all and they were still a bit young (probably not too young for a fish, but again did not look pregnant, and I have bred guppies and other fish).

Now I’m curious to know if the babies will end up being male or female. Only time will tell. I also do have a snail infestation to be fair, so if a fish dies, they would be on the cleaning crew real quick. We also have cats, but they have never shown interest. Still a possibility though.

Anyway, just thought it was interesting. And I now have a better fitting lid. The babies are in a baby net safe and sound. This happened about a week ago and they have been doing great. No other missing fish.

On a flight from edinburgh to tenerife, a friend and I looked out the window as we were passing over the coast. The waves stood completely still, we could make them out as the white of the waves spaced metres apart remained in perfect harmony.

The argument against this will say we were too far away to notice any movement, but I am convinced. We could see the shore line for at least 2 minutes, and no waves broke it as we looked. Just a picture image of the sea with white horses in an unmoving state.

Ok, so this happened today and honestly I’m still not over it.

I’ve been hedging my bets on booking a vacation all week which we’d be due to go on tomorrow.

On the drive home I started contemplating the trip again mentally telling myself I need to make a call on it.

The next set of traffic lights I’m stopped at I shit you not the registration plate to my left had the first letter and the second FULL word of the place we’d be going. I’m thinking oh cool it’s a sign!

Yeah well that sign got pretty more blatant real quick.

The car directly infront of me the last letters read GO.

And honestly, I cannot even fathom that I am about to say this next part but the car at the right was my FULL nickname, WEE followed by numbers then first three letters of my name.

I am truly and utterly mind blown that seconds after I thought about our vacation 4 cars surrounding me effectively said.

Okay so this is going to sound genuinely insane, and no I’m not on anything. Me and my best friend grew up together in Henderson Nevada and basically the entirety of school when I was there we had to do Nevada state history. State semi precious gem is turquoise and its precious gemstone is virgin valley black fire opal. State bird is a mountain bluebird. Shii has been hammered into my brain. Yet a city me and my friend remember (FONDLY MIND YOU, FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE). Yeah, apparently it doesn’t, and has never existed. I wanna chalk it up to misremembering but we both remember visiting and driving through it and even remember where in Nevada it was (it was like in the middle of Reno and elko) we could be losing our shits but this is genuinely so weird, a cool ass city we remember doesn’t even actually exist. City was emerald city (ik there’s an emerald city in Washington and stuff referred by the nickname emerald city, but no actual city)

Over the past 25 years or more whatever electronic clock i may have by my bed on occasion would jump time either forward or backwards by 1 or 2 hours. At first i thought it was a glitch in my alarm clock radio, but it also happened to other alarm clock radios i have used. I have had to stop relying on a regular alarm clock to wake me up in the mornings and had to resort to my cell phone instead for my alarms since clocks set by the internet aren't affected by my presence when i sleep. Does anyone else here have issues with their presence effecting electronic clocks (not the ones set by the internet) while they sleep? Might i add, when i am experiencing emotional or physical pain, i do have a tendency to effect electronics and make them malfunction when i go to touch them.

Salut tout le monde, il y a une 10 aine d'années, j'étais encore avec mon ex, nous envisagions de nous séparer à ce moment (10 ans de vie commune) on en aura fait 13 en tout, dans ce climat malsain je m'endors un soir et je fais ce cauchemar pendant la nuit.

Je me retrouve avec l'ex d'un pote dans une vie complètement chaotique ou je ressent un profond malaise, une toxicité inégalée, un cadre inconnu et beaucoup trop de chats ... Là je me réveille en panique, je mets quelques minutes à me lever le temps de récupérer, c'était ce genre de rêve hyper réaliste et le malaise était encore présent au réveil, je file me faire me couler un café je rejoins mon ex dans le canape sous la couette et je lui raconte mon cauchemar avec l'ex de mon pote. Je finis de lui raconter en lui disant que j'espère ne jamais avoir à vivre ça de ma vie et que je suis trop bien avec elle.

3ans après on se sépare et 1 an après je me retrouve en couple avec l'ex de mon pote (je ne fais même pas le lien à ce moment) son ex, mon ex pote du coup se retrouve à nous stalker (il a jamais admis la rupture) il vient sous mes fenêtres, deviens de plus en plus lourd alors on décide de déménager, à 1400 km de là, peu de temps après l'emménagement je refais ce rêve et là tout s'aligne, tout est réalisé.

Aujourd'hui ça fais 6 ans que je suis avec elle , on a 7 chats (1 seul m'appartient vraiment), c'est de loin la relation la plus toxique que je n'ai jamais eu, je ai le même ressentis qu'il y a 10 ans ....

Somewhere in July me and my Grandpa were Playing Catch and I threw a ball that looked like a Neon Green rubber Nerf football that has some black to theres gonna be a image of it up there but I threw it. it missed his hand and it stopped at the bush and its like it got Dragged and then no Sound or anything after that and then it was gone when we looked behind the bush we looked that entire area for At least 10 minutes everywhere then 10-15 minutes Later we saw the Ball appear Just in the bush like a sore Thumb. and I was Shocked and though it was a Wormhole and then Minutes later there was a Dead bush or empty Dead bush spot of that area where it was instanly and then i was like "Okay im gonna get a gieger counter to check those areas" and The Geiger counter was going off in the Exact same Spots where the Ball disappared and Reappared it was Trippy and i want to Build research so if anybody wants to reach out please do I need some storys on it so i can Build Evidence for it Thanks Bye.

I was getting fruit strips at the store and debated between getting one or two boxes. Decided to get 2, get to the front to pay, put all my groceries on the belt and notice I only had one box, oh well, bagged my stuff, including just one box of them. Get home, do my routine of putting everything on the counter before I put it away, still only one. Go to put the fruit strips away and there’s a full box already there. I absolutely know it wasn’t there prior, wish I would have checked the receipt bc it was boringly bizarre.

Another time, I was cutting tomatoes on the kitchen island, with my back to the area where my coffee pot sits about 3 feet away. I dropped 4 small pieces of tomato at my feet and I saw one bounce under the island. Pick up the pieces but can only find 3. I looked everywhere and gave up. Next morning I find the last piece inside the carafe of my coffee pot. It was sitting directly behind me, above the height of where I was cutting. The piece would have had to make it through the tiny space between the carafe lid and the filter part then down through the slots in the lid OR it flew directly into the pour spout but there’s just no way. I wasn’t flailing about or anything, no way it happened naturally, lots of strange stuff happened at that place, cheap rent though 😬😅🤣😂🤣

Me and my fiance both experienced a complete glitch in time along side fractal memories of a similar but not the same universe. This just occured this evening. Has anyone else suffered this tonight? I dont know weather to link it to spiritual travel, CERN hiccups or even aliens who knows? Thats why I am here. I need to know if anyone else has or experiencing this right now.

Things are normal now but the situation has too many factors and people involved to be coincidental.

I'd like to share my experience

I saw a colleague at work.

I left the spot where he was still standing.

I passed by the storage area on the floor below—I went right through there.

I didn’t see him go past me, and when I left the first location, he was still there.

I arrived at the storage area, and there he was—sitting and talking to another colleague.

I have two cats. Both are black and white tuxedo cats, but they have distinct differences. I’ve also had them since they were kittens so I’d be able to tell them apart in the dark, regardless.

Right now I’m visiting my parents in my home town, and I took the cats with me. We’ve been staying in a cabin about 10 minutes drive away from my parents’ house, but last night I had planned to move to my parents’ because they’re going away and I’ll house sit.

Last night I went to collect my things and the cats. Only one cat (M) was there, the other (G) was outside so I decided to hang out and wait for G to come home. I then spent about two hours hanging out with M, waiting for his brother.

After waiting that long I thought oh I’ll just move M and all my stuff to my parents’ and then come back to the cabin and see if G’s come inside.

So, I put M in the cat carrier and my things in the car and drove home. I let M out of the carrier and then moved that to the garage so it’d be out of the way.

Once back at the cabin I waited there until maybe 2:30 am, and G didn’t come inside. This was annoying but not unusual, he sometimes roams and then shows up the next day with a mouse or something. So I just decided to leave the window open and I’d come back the next morning, and then I went back to my parents’ house to sleep.

This morning I woke up to drive my parents to the airport. As my mom asked me if G had showed up and I said “nah, he’s still out…” G WALKED PAST ME. 

BOTH CATS ARE HERE. 

So I got this new therapist, and the appointment came up. As I approached the check in counter the lady behind the desk said “hey (my name), who are you seeing today?” I was so confused because I have no idea who this person is. So I say “sorry do I know you?” And she looked at me like I’m crazy then said I’ve known you for years, I was a receptionist At (another psych place). I’ve never heard the name of that psych place and I know I’ve never been there, but I just said “oh okay, yeah” then let it be. But it was so weird, I don’t understand what even happened.

This year, more than ever, I've gone deep down a rabbit hole exploring a particular experience. I've set out to understand the electromagnetic signals of biological systems that we normally cannot hear

My work has focused on transforming these signals so that I can experience these invisible forces through one of our senses. In this case, sight wasn't an option, since we wouldn't be able to see this information without some kind of consciousness-altering substance. So I turned to the senses of hearing and touch instead

I used an electrical circuit as an interface between two realities. I connected this circuit to plants so that they could act as living organisms whose electromagnetic signals could be translated. Within certain parameters, this installation could be explained through technological processes in terms of science and physics. However, after many tests, anomalous results began to occur that didn't seem like such ordinary manifestations of reality

When I touched the plant, the sonic results varied considerably, and I suddenly began to wonder: why can hearing a plant alter our perception of what a living organism is capable of?

I won't claim outright that this experience was a way of communicating with plants, although the connection does feel something like that. So I began analyzing the sonic patterns. Sometimes they were unexpected and didn't correspond to my touch, which made me question whether these unexpected patterns and repetitions were anomalies and, therefore, a hidden language, or what kind of supposed glitch I was experiencing

If the sound changes when you touch different leaves, vary the pressure, or switch plants, you can encounter variations that seem random, repetitive, or unexpected. Okay, I can understand that from a rational and logical perspective. But then, when is a sonic change perceived as a natural variation, and when is it interpreted as a malfunction?

I began to think that there were more variables to consider and study, such as the relationship between the electrical properties measured by the device, the plant's behavior, and even the interpretation of the person listening

So, I just went pee, right? And the TP roll was almost empty, only like 4 squares left. So I used the last of it, washed my hands, and I go to replace the empty roll with a fresh one. I pop the holder bar out, turn to my left to throw away the empty, turn towards the mirror pick up a new roll, squint at it to make sure it's oriented correctly. Then I turn around to pop on the new roll...

And there's ALREADY a brand new roll on the holder. And at first I think "Did I replace it already?" But no, I know I didn't, it was one series of movements, remove empty, toss empty, pick up fresh. Wtf.

So I go and I tell my roommate "wtf I just experienced a glitch in the matrix!" And I tell her what happened. And SHE says "you can't have used the last of a roll. I REPLACED IT AN HOUR AGO. I just put on a new one."

And I'm like, "no, it was empty, I used the last of it. And she's like "no, you can't have," and I'm like "I KNOW I did."

So I looked in the bin, and sure enough, the empty cardboard tube is there, and so are the four or so squares I wiped with when I used the last of the roll...

And I told her this and she just looks at me like smh you're being ridiculous and says she has to go to work.

Meanwhile I am questioning reality.

To give context, I am 29 and I've lived in this general area, driving on these roads my ENTIRE life. I am not in a new area. I know it like the back of my hand.

I live in the Portland Oregon metro area.

I was driving into the city (downtown portland) for an appointment. On the way BACK from my appointment going south towards the metro (specifically Tigard Oregon) and needed to take exit 293 to get home. I look over and see the familiar exit 294 (from Portland to the metro, it decends from exit 299 when going south) I merge over because my exit was coming up. I'm in the right lane but right before I reach my exit, I get a phone call that I was waiting for and briefly look at my phone and then look back up a bit disoriented from that and all the traffic and realize I missed my exit.

"No big deal," I think and decide I'll just take the next one.

I take the next one which allows me to get on the opposite side of the highway now going North towards Portland again. I see the familiar 292a and 292b and know that my exit is next. I'm in the slow lane. However, there is no exit for a little while and I get a bit confused. I then decide I'll just take exit 294. That also doesn't appear. The next exit I see is exit 295. This was the very next exit I see after going past the familiar 292a and 292b that I took for YEARS to get to work.
