Advice, Pls When will the agony end?

It’s been 8 months without my dad. I wish he never loved me like he did. This would be so much easier. But I have to live like this forever? With this anguish? With hating everything we did together because I have to do it alone? Every Christmas ad on tv makes me cry (beyond that October is not even finished with). He made life lovely and worth living. Idk how I will survive without him.

The dread before the first Christmas without him is usually worse than the day itself, so try not to spend November bracing for something that hasn't happened yet. Eight months is still right in the thick of it, nobody's expecting you to be past this.

That dread really does eat you alive before the actual day arrives. My own approach was to make one small plan for the day, nothing big, just something that keeps part of your mind busy so the whole thing doesn't feel like a wall you're staring at.

Thank you for the advice ❤️ My mother told me it’s time to start getting over it a few months ago, so i appreciate the validation.

Gosh I am so sorry. I feel so so similarly to you. I love my dad to the moon and back and sometimes I wonder if losing him would have been easier if he wasn’t so great. But now every day is a loud reminder of his presence, because he truly did make every day so much better for me.

Sending you hugs 🫂
