Went to see a huge guitar show for the first time in Texas. Just as an observer. I can't play music but it looked like a good time and you might hear some good players.

Saw some really beautiful guitars at some insanely high prices. You name it, they had it.

I'm sure it's a gas for those who love swap meets.

But I also just learned a lot about this dealer culture just by by watching. There were covert spys posted outside who noted what was being brought into the venue. They'd photograph people and blast the pictures to their co-conspirators inside.

once inside it was an endless barrage of noise and fast talking low ball jive not heard since the TV show Pawn Stars. I watched this one dude (older gentleman) bring in a well loved strat and a cherry 60s Gibson hollow body To be told it wasn't worth anything. But they'd give him 1800 for the pair ..

I didn't say anything but the ethics were kinda fucked on that offer.

I overheard a lot. Anyone else see/hear this sort of thing? I always thought these events brought about community. I didn't leave thinking community.

I need help getting better at the guitar but I'm not the best at it. A buddy of mine is working on a project and in a few months will be going to be in the market to purchase some original musical compositions(whatever that means). And he wants me to make music for him. I will be paid if I do. He asked me to learn how to play guitar like that one guy, Rob Sigurd. I can either A: Do it Fl Studio or B: Learn how to play on my physical Fender electric guitar. Is there any tips that you guys can give me, or what songs i can play to help me get better. Reminder i have a couple of months to do so. I don't want to rush it, but i still want it to sound good. Thanks!

Are there any thin neck 24" guitars that you could recommend? I own a Sonic Mustang but its neck is kinda round and not as thin as I'd like. I see Squier CV jags, duo sonics, and mustangs. Even Affinity. Does their necks differ from the Sonic line?

Maybe even 24.75" could do but it's gotta work in a classical position so no les paul shaped I guess.

Basically, we rehearsed for about 2 hours yesterday and hardly made any mistakes, but today, my band played our first gig, and I made a few mistakes every song.

I know making mistakes is normal, but does anyone else have experience playing kinda off on their first gig?

Hey guys, I have been playing guitar for some time now.

I know how to some song of simplr progression like( Ed sheeran's song) ,major scales, minor scales, pentatonic scales.

Now I don't know how to move forward. When ever i try to see road map in youtube there too many junk info

I've nailed pinch harmonics everywhere on the guitar neck except for the low E string, and I'd like to get those Zakk and Ozzy-like super face-tearing low pinch harmonics right. However, I just can't, I don't know why. Do I need more distortion, or attack it more?

I have the DiMarzio D Activator, but i like the Super Distortion better, can't afford a swap right now.

The Super Distortion just sounds better in every way to me. (Although i do appreciate the D Activator clean clarity on occasion).

I also dont like how the D Activator muddys up the dual dissonant note playing (see the start of that particular segment at 4:19 in video).

Would love if I could get some advice on how to improve from here, I want to start practing my scales a lot more and learn music theory but I feel like my technique is still heavily lacking as well. Although I dont know how to change it.

Really liked these designs but im completely clueless about the important and basic stuff so any advice helps! Im a big j-rock and buck tick fan so I was hoping to find something that worked well with those kinda songs (theyre a mix of goth rock, alternative, industrial n punk I think. ) as I heard some guitars can be better suited for heavy metal (not really my thing for now)

Im planning to keep it as a hobby so wont go too expensive. Lots of info online has me a bit overwhelmed too. Im not sure how much sound range these have and how much you can modify them but I think something versatile is the best way to go(?)

Hey everyone, I'm planning on getting a Harley Benton EX-84 with EMGs, and I'll have around €210 left for guitar gear.

My current setup:

• Harley Benton ST-20HSS
• Harley Benton HB-20R amp
• Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen
• Turtle Beach gaming headphones

I mainly play through my audio interface using guitar plugins on my laptop, but I miss the feeling of playing through a proper amp and hearing it through a speaker in the room.

I'm mainly into Metallica and thrash metal. With a budget of €210, what would you recommend? Should I save for a better amp, look at something like a used amp, or consider something else?

Is this true ? If your level is at basic and joining a group of seasoned players, you will improve fast ?

I'm trying to write badass sounding riffs like Velvet Revolver and other similar bands. I'm very influenced by Nirvana and Green Day, so I'm having trouble getting out of the grunge/punk mind space. Any tips help.

I just bought my first relatively expensive guitar, an Ibanez S721RB. It sounds great but I've noticed that there are a lot of small dents across the neck and bottom of the headstock. Is this normal or acceptable for a guitar which costs $1099 USD? You need to zoom in a bit in some of the pictures to see.

It's an okoume body with a 5-piece maple/walnut neck if that helps. I bought it brand new and wasn't sure if something like this is still normal with guitars that cost 1000+. Should I ask for a discount or partial refund instead of sending it back?
