"North Carolina A&T students are making their voices heard as they march back to campus after participating in the first day of early voting in North Carolina. The march comes after the Guilford County Board of Elections removed the university's on-campus early voting location earlier this year, raising concerns about access and convenience for students who want to participate in the electoral process."

Correction: Although Yard.Culture states that NCAT had their polling site removed, it is not true. NCAT never had a non-presidential (midterm election) polling site. This was also stated by Roy Cooper, and fact checked. Please read more at the link below.

Hi! I’m currently a freshman at William Paterson University in New Jersey, and I’m already considering transferring for Fall 2027. I know it’s only October, but I really don’t like the location or my experience here so far, and I can tell this school isn’t the right fit for me. My original plan was to attend an HBCU, but I got accepted into Howard and couldn’t afford it. I was also interested in Hampton, which my great-aunt attended, but my high school guidance counselor encouraged me to choose William Paterson instead.
I’m now looking into Morgan State, Hampton, and possibly Seton Hall, but finances are my biggest concern. My family can contribute around $500–$600 a month, and I’m willing to work and save, but I don’t want to put my family in a difficult financial situation. Has anyone else dealt with financial struggles trying to attend an out-of-state HBCU? How did you afford it, find scholarships, or get enough financial aid as a transfer student? I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences, especially from people who transferred after their freshman year!

After my Associates, I plan to transfer to FSU for a BABA- Online but there is not a specific concentration. Has anyone had experience doing FSU Online for this particular degree? I couldn’t find much in other forums.

If you have had luck, any recs?

Im taking the ACT this weekend, and I’m honestly feeling discouraged. My dream is to attend an HBCU, but many don’t offer as much scholarship funding, and some merit scholarships require test scores. I’m scared my ACT score could affect my ability to afford attending one…

I originally hired a math tutor, but they ghosted me. I was also supposed to take the ACT last month to get a baseline score, but an issue with my counselor caused me to miss it. Now I’m studying on my own, and it’s been so hard. I struggle with the most basic math concepts and grammar isn’t clicking. I’m smart but I feel like attending a public school in arizona has set me back in a multitude of ways.

Recent practice test
Reading: 29
English: 27
Math: 15
Composite: 24

Anyways, I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA and a 4.4 weighted GPA, and I’ve worked really hard in and outside of school. My family is low low income, so scholarships are VERYYY important to me.

I’d really appreciate any advice or success stories.

Hello can anybody tell me their experience in this
I’m a senior now and I really want to go to an HBCU for grad school because I didn’t do it for undergrad

Can you tell me about how different it was, where you went, why you went and how it changed you.

I also wonder did you feel a sense of community being a grad student at an hbcu/ did you still feel involved in the culture?

I am not here for the T15 debate... please save that for another post.

KSU's Homecoming Parade 2026

What’s the best way to connect with STEM majors at HBCUs? What are the best platforms?

• The FAMU School of the Environment welcomed 26 incoming scholars with white coats into their Nexus Scholars-in Residence Program marking the start of their research and academic journeys.
• 21 graduating seniors received green blazers recognizing their academic achievements, research and professional development.

Hey everyone! I’m going to be in Baltimore during the Classic (FAMU vs Bethune Cookman) in November. Anyone know of a place I can go to watch the game? I am going to be staying near downtown but will have a car.

I’m a Fall 2026 graduating senior at Texas Southern University, and I have a genuine question. Why are graduates only being given six tickets when the venue reportedly seats 8,100 people?
For many of us, this moment has been years in the making. We’ve worked, sacrificed, raised families, overcome obstacles, and pushed through challenges just to walk across that stage.
Six tickets mean some of us have to choose between our parents, children, siblings, grandparents, and other loved ones who supported us throughout this journey.
I’m not asking for unlimited tickets, but I do believe 10 tickets per graduate would be a reasonable request if the venue’s capacity and graduating class size allow it.
Graduation isn’t just about the student. It’s also about the village that helped us get there.
Has anyone at another HBCU dealt with this? How many graduation tickets did your school provide? I’d love to hear your experiences.

1 ) For those who attended a PWI for undergrad and an HBCU for graduate school:
What was your experience like? How did you navigate the transition academically, socially, and culturally? Did you feel welcomed and connected to the community?

2) For those who attended an HBCU for undergrad and a PWI for graduate school:
How was that transition for you? Did you miss the HBCU environment? Were there things about attending an HBCU that you didn’t fully appreciate until you left?

I’m genuinely interested in hearing your experiences, the differences you noticed, and whether you felt like you found the community you were looking for.

Pls let me know this will help me out

A more targeted recruitment strategy: FAMU's strategy places a greater value on academic readiness, program fit, and scholarship, and over sheer numbers. The university relies on its stronger partnerships with high schools, state colleges, and alumni networks.

Hello everyone, I'm working on a class project about your experiences. It's anonymous, takes about 10 minutes, and you can skip any question.

If you're 18+ and currently enrolled (or were within the past year) at a Georgia college or university, I'd really appreciate your voice.
