Wowwee!! That’s a big chunk of change you have invested there! At least yours will be worth something to pass on, not like my four thousand, mostly American History, that routinely sell online for five or six bucks. Tragically, many well-written history books end up in the dumpster.
I’ve been studying American history, specifically the Civil War, for about 50 years and I think my greatest fear is that when I die, my family will just roll a dumpster up to the side of the house and throw them all in. Ugh!
My aunt turned me onto book collecting when I was ten, and Hunter S. Thompson’s Gonzo helped me learn to believe in myself enough to begin writing.

Jimmy Irsay’s very eclectic collection was on display in Indy once, and he had the original single-spaced typewritten scroll of Kerouac’s “On the Road” on display. It was simply amazing! Just the glass display must’ve been 50 feet long! Very impressive.

What a simply remarkable collection you have there. Bravo!👏 👏👏

That’s very kind of you to say, thank you! 🫶🫶

Hopefully your books are given a second life, 4k books is an outstanding collection!

My aunt was a librarian and similarly taught me about books and fine presses and the differences when I was a young teenager and that’s when I started collecting Folio Society books nearly 20 years ago. Love Hunter S. Thompson as well!
