Serious Answers Only Repair a hairline crack in drinking glass.

• Upvotes

Long story short: Years ago, I worked with Bryan Cranston on a film and, at the time, told him what a massive fan of Breaking Bad and his work I was.

A few weeks later I get an amazing present in the mail: A crew gift from the series. It’s a drinking glass - shaped like a kind of beaker - with the logo and the season on it.

Problem is that when I moved to Europe, it got a hairline crack in my luggage. I don’t use the glass because I’m afraid of breaking it (bad - hehe), but I’d still like to cure it if I can. Any ideas?

Serious Answers Only How to reliquefy congealed laundry detergent

Greetings and felicitations. Is there any reasonable way to reliquefy about two gallons of congealed laundry detergent—one more reasonable than cutting open the plastic jug and using a paint scraper/other spatula to cut pieces off? I've already tried adding water and shaking the jug.

im aware of what it means and the risks that come with a brown recluse population in the home.
im entomophobic, this has been a traincar of a pill to swallow.

the ones in the second photo have been there for a very long time, i couldn’t bring myself to look up what specific species left them when i first moved in (5 years ago)

i gained the courage last week, ive been tending to other possible hiding spots, now i just need logical and rational reassurance as to how to go forward with removing these without flailing the f out

thank you for any help

French window is not closing/locking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the correct place to ask for some help with a French window. Since I haven’t succeed at finding other Reddit posts with my issue and type of window, here we are.

For starters, I have no idea how old the building is. The window is in my room, and I get cold at night :(

I will be sharing more videos of the window in question and another window (same brand) that actually works.

What I have done so far:
-Clean the frame/where the locks are. There was dust and webs everywhere.
-Put some oil into the locks or whatever name the sliding things have.
-Check for differences between the working window and my broken window. (The working one is dirtier and has almost the same defects…)

Broken window description:
The brand is named Pidosan… and when I searched for it I found a Turkish site? Idk, the brand name has the same font so.

What, I believe, seems to be broken/malfunctioning, is the knob. When I turn the knob for the working window it feels easy to turn. With the broken one, I feel like it’s a bit stuck/feels weird when I turn it.

The black plastic frame, I think it’s the seal of the window? (Sorry, cannot name it in English), it’s loose in the left side.

It is impossible for me access this window from outside: I hope you can get why from the videos, I’m terrible with explanations.

The locks, the little things that lock the window, are synchronized but I don’t know, something feels off.

Lastly, I’m in France, how come I’m freezing? What if I told you I used to feel cold in Argentinian summers?-

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

DIY How to stop eating fast

I come from a place where I was in deep poverty and I got used to eating food really quickly, I’m now in my 15s and I’m trying to lose weight but I heard that eating food quickly is bad for digestion.

I do try to counter this with digestion walks but most of the times I’m unable to do so.

I do also deal with stress eating, so when I feel stressed my mind firsts instinct is to eat to cope, if that makes sense.

I’m 6’1 240, I was 180 some years ago, I don’t want it to get worse as you can see

If anyone has any advice for my issues, it would be awesome, thanks.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to open this photo frame. I got it at Goodwill, the beveled glass is awesome and very heavy, but the frame is solid around the entirety. How would I get a new photo in there?

Serious Answers Only How do I get this bathroom door to close?

Thumbnail

We’ve had this problem since we moved into this house a year ago, and we’ve just dealt with it. But we’ll be having guests soon, and I don’t want them to have to use the bathroom with the door not latched.

Things I’ve tried:

- planing and sanding. Door fits absolutely perfectly without the hinges. Moment I add the hinges, won’t close and it’s WAY off.

- tightening the screws. The hinge didn’t feel loose, and the screws wouldn’t go any further.

- longer screws. See above.

- New hinges. I even plugged the holes with toothpicks and glue to give the new screws something to grip.

Bottom of the door, hinge closes almost completely. Nice tight fit. Top of the door? Not so much. I can literally see out of the gap into the hallway.

I’m at my wits end here. Please for the love of everything holy and before I end up taking a circular saw to my freaking door…what else can I try. Why is it doing this when the door CLEARLY FITS without the hinges? 😩

How can I fix this crooked miniature wall without making it worse?

I attached one little wall slightly crooked and, of course, didn’t notice until the next piece refused to sit where it should. The joint is dry now, so I’m not going to start yanking on it and turn one mistake into three. I just don’t know whether the smarter move is to leave it, carefully separate it, or adjust the next piece around the error. What would you try first without wrecking the surrounding parts?

Serious Answers Only How to clean and sell my most expensive poor decision

Thumbnail

Please be kind.

In March of last year, I ended an unhealthy relationship of 9 years and moved into my mom's extra room. Someone I knew lived in an RV and they said it was really cost effective, and cheaper than having to rent a room or apartment. So, foolishly, I bought this RV to live in.

Then I fell into a severe depressive episode. I lost my job and was barely keeping myself alive. I fell hard into addiction and it was just a whole mess.

During this time I neglected doing any maintenance on the RV. I haven't cleaned it once. There were a few small voids I never got around to recaulking. I just abandoned it fully.

I got sober in March, moved out in August and finally got a job last month. Now I finally have some capacity to address this incredibly expensive, awful decision.

I've realized RV living is just not for me so I just want to sell it. However, I've never tried to sell anything like this before and I don't know how screwed I am. I assume the value has gone down a fair bit. I don't know the best way to clean it, how to check the condition, etc. I don't even have a truck to tow it... I truly did not think it through.

It's a 2020 Jayco EAGLE HT, I bought it for 27,900. I was able to pay for it in full up front because my ex bought me out of my half of our house equity. I know, I know, I was in a really lucky position to have that kind of money and then I went and made a really fucking bad financial decision. I was not in a rational, grounded state of mind. It was a rough time.

Here's the JD power page for this specific model:

https://www.jdpower.com/rvs/2020/jayco/m-264-bhok/6590045/specs

The interior is perfectly fine, I've only been inside a few times while I've had it, otherwise everything has been kept closed. The owners before me also only used it a few times before selling it so it's barely used. I bought a brand new battery for it since the one it came with died.

Any help or guidance for where to start would be highly appreciated. Again, please be kind. I already know I fucked up. I'm just trying to salvage what I can from the situation.

DIY How would you glue hollow ceramic statue together?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone! I recently acquired this statue and am looking to repair it. I’ve seen several people online recommend superglue, E6000, 2 part epoxy, and JB Weld. I have some of these adhesives on hand, but my main concern is how to support the statue while the glue cures. The top portion is fairly large and heavy, and I’m worried it might tip over or shift out of place before the adhesive sets.
What adhesive would you recommend for this repair, and how would you suggest supporting the statue while it cures to ensure everything stays properly aligned?
I’ve attached pictures for reference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Serious Answers Only how do i bend these tiny greenhouse wires without breaking them?

I’m stuck on the flower section of this miniature kit, and the instructions want me to twist these microscopic green wires into perfect little stems for the paper leaves. Every time I try with my regular tweezers, the wire either kinks strangely or snaps completely. I’ve already ruined three, and I haven’t even started the main structure yet. I tried heating the wire a little, but that did absolutely nothing. how am I supposed to build rolife cathys flower house dg104 if I can’t even get past the first row of plants? Is there a particular tool or technique for bending these without ruining the coating? any advice would save my sanity right now.
