✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ A piece of life in my man cave - Ikea Fabrikor
So it's finally the time to share what I have built to add some life to my man cave! The greenhouse was placed here a couple of months ago, already went through some changes and adjustments inside and so far I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Shortly about my setup:
- Cabinet - Ikea Fabrikor
- Steel grid on the back, hanged on magnet hooks. Two shower stands in the corner.
- Light - 2x Barrina T5 long (59 cm), one mounted on the glass, one on magnets at 45 degrees angle.
- Floor - some wooden tiles from Lidl, cut to size and treated with oil.
- Conditions - 12 hours of light every day, fan running 24/7 (considering adding another one), humidity constantly around 80% with pretty much no sealing (only added a seal at the bottom, because of the crazy gap on this cabinet).
Plants:
- top row - Fittonia, Calathea makoyana, Anthurium, Sarracenia
- middle row - Anthurium, Gynura auranti (will be most likely removed), Alocasia amazonica, Monstera adansonii
- bottom row - Calathea, Philodendron gloriosum
As mentioned earlier, the greenhouse has been started a couple of months ago, so I'm still trying to figure out watering/ I already failed a couple of times, the plants got a bit dry, when I traveled during the heatwave this summer, some plants got brown spots.
Three most successful plants in my setup:
- Philodendron gloriosum - bought a cutting with just one small leaf, already got two nice leaves and the forth one is opening at the moment. It was sitting on one of the shelves, but because of the quick growth, I had to place it in the middle. Really happy about the growth!
- Alocasia amazonica - bought as a really small plant with just two leaves and it seems to be thriving.
- Monstera adansonii - again a cutting with just a node and a small leaf, took some time to grow the roots, but after potting it just exploded. I am actually a bit concerned about how long the stem got, before the leaves opened - might reach the lights soon. Also moved from the shelves.
Not so successful:
- Sarracenia - no clue why, but it keeps getting brown. New pitchers appear from time to time and whenever they grow bigger, they also partially die.
- Calathea (at the bottom) - it has been standing in the living room for a couple of months, but it was so damaged by the cat, I had to either throw it away or move it inside. It had a lot of leaves removed, now seems to be slowly recovering.
- Gynura aurantiaca - bought only because it was in a pack with two other plants, stays alive, but I have a feeling it ruins the overall look.
I kept waiting with getting the main plant that would fill in the middle space, but I am considering waiting how will the philodendron and monstera look like in a couple of weeks/months.
Do you guys have any recommendations how to handle watering? It is still a bit tricky for me, especially that the plants have very different requirements, but also the small size of some of the pots means they are much more sensitive. Do you use any sensors for the soil humidity?
If you have any questions about the setup, just ask! I will also be more than happy to take your suggestions and hints on what I can do better.

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ Finished… for now
Just picked up two monstera bulbasaurs from Home Depot and finished the cable management. Got the Rudsta from Facebook marketplace and decided to go with the AC Infinity Ionbeam s16 because of the adjustability. Used some foam weatherstripping 3/4” wide x 1/2” thick and managed to get most of the gaps. It was reading 85% when I had a humidifier running.
Somehow I feel like I’m already out of room since I don’t have short enough plants to fill the top, I’ll probably get the horseshoe shaped acrylic or some magnetic shelves in the future and get rid of the glass shelf.

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ First greenhouse cabinet! Looking for advice on my setup
This is my first greenhouse cabinet, and I’m looking for advice or suggestions on my setup!
I converted an IKEA Milsbo Tall and currently have:
- 3 Barrina T5 grow lights mounted underneath the shelves, skipped the bottom so it doesn’t get too hot or burn any leaves
- 2 fans at the top for airflow
- Clear plastic shelves
- Weather stripping and silicone to help retain humidity, although it’s not completely airtight
- A LECA tray with water for extra humidity
- No humidifier yet, and I still need to get a hygrometer and I don’t want to shock the plants
Plants from top to bottom:
Top: Aglaonema in LECA and albo pothos
Second: Pink princess propagations and Mt. Salak
Third: More pink princess propagations, a croton, and a Peperomia caperata
Bottom: Prayer plant, mother Mt. Salak, hydroponic Thai constellation, and more pink princess propagations in a tray
I skipped adding a grow light to the bottom shelf because I was concerned about heat, but it still receives some light from above and natural
sunlight from a nearby window.
I’m hoping to maintain decent humidity without needing a humidifier, but I’ll have a better idea once I get a hygrometer.
Since this is my first greenhouse, I’d love to know everyone else’s experience and failures with their first! Is there anything you’d change or recommend?

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ New player - my Rudsta journey begins here!
I miss my old cat (not the one in the picture, but I miss him too). He was gentle, sweet, elderly, marmalade boy, and if getting to a plant required acrobatics, he couldn't be so fussed. I now have omnivorous voids from Cirque de Soleil. My plant stands had been open affairs, but now, they've turned into an all you can eat salad bar.
I have plans for two tall Milsbos to replace my existing stands, but this Rudsta wide is where I will begin. I ordered something to cover the plain black back, and I will drill holes and grommet the wiring for lights and fans.
I got a pair of acrylic shelves in the horseshoe and butterfly shapes to allow taller plants headroom.
My lighting is a set of four Barina puck lights, which are what I use on my stands. They aren't 'invisible', but after I do some wire routing, I don't think it will be so bad.
So my question: Fans - is there a recommended fan type? I've seen magnetic 3d printer fan mounts, but I want to run them through a temperature sensor to pop on and off automatically. Maybe top mount them in the roof and drop them in that way. Or is the concern humidity more than temps?
Anything else to look out for? Thanks for any advice.

European IKEA greenhouse cabinet owners - what accessories are difficult to find?
Hi everyone!
I'm a plant lover from the Netherlands and have recently converted my IKEA Milsbo into a greenhouse cabinet for my plants.
While setting up my cabinet, I've noticed that some of the products needed for my greenhouse cabinet are surprisingly difficult to find in Europe. For example, I love the Barrina T5 grow lights, but they are quite expensive to import to Europe. I'm therefore currently using the SANSI grow lights for my cabinet, but I feel like also their selection for greenhouse cabinet use is limited. Another thing is finding acrylic shelves with ventilation holes that fit greenhouse cabinets properly.
I'm curious about other European plant lovers' experiences:
- Are there any greenhouse cabinet accessories that you've struggled to find or had to order from the US?
- Have you had to pay high shipping costs or import fees to get something you wanted?
- Are there any products you wish were more readily available from European suppliers?
I'm trying to understand whether this is a common problem or just something I've run into myself. I'd love to hear about your experiences and any products you've found particularly difficult to find!
Thanks from a fellow plant lover 🌱

Temperature Is 32.3 degrees (90F) too hot for my cabinet?
Setup is in a Milsbo Tall. I have alocasias and monsteras in there, and might in an anthurium soon. My cabinet started getting hot after adding T8s. Currently the average temperature goes between 31-32 degrees.
Humidity is around 75-85% usually
When the grow lights are off at night, it drops to 25-26 degrees on average

Upgraded Today
It is a little warm but it'll do, I've got 12 Barina T5's, 2 fans, and slotted acrylic shelves for airflow.
P.S. Don't mind the pothos's on top i have to get those in order and fuller, haven't decided exactly on what I wanna do yet.

Can anyone tell me what cabinet this is so I can order some custom shelves? I only have one other cabinet and I’m not really familiar with all of them just yet. Any help is appreciated!

Hi all! Would anyone be willing to send a link to any after market 1ft cords you use with your T5’s? I need better cord management in my cabinet. Thanks in advance! Picture of my Alocasia Brancifolia Albo for attention 😂💚🫶🏻

Lighting Help with Rudsta lighting
Hey all, looking for some help with lighting for my Rudsta. I currently have 3 x 2ft t5s mounted on top, but I feel like my plants on the bottom of the cabinet are a little far from the lights. The cabinet does also get 3ish hours of sunlight in the mornings.
I have another light that I haven’t yet put anywhere and I’m wondering if it would be worth it to mount this light in the front corner of the cabinet vertically? I have taken out the glass shelves and am using magnetic shelves, so I have nowhere to mount a light in the middle horizontally.
Let me know your setups!

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ Ikea plant tower update.
I posted about my ikea Vittsjo plant cabinet/tower almost a year ago.

This is how it looks now.
Some plants didn’t make it, some thrived.
Added some new plants, a humidifier and recently a Sansi T10 growlight.

Good greenhouse?
Found near a bin and not ikea, it has auto close hinges so you cant keep them open without constantly holding the handles. There's no holes for vents so i dont know what this is used for. Pretty heavy though but not too much, i think it's acrylic.
Nana for scale

Shelving Shelves for Baggebo: too thin?
I’m getting some leftover acrylic from where I work. Is this too thin? Is a little flexible but when it cuts, I don’t think it will still be flexible.
What do you think? I can go thicker but then it will be hard to cut designs for air holes.

Original glass
What are you guys doing with the original glass shelves when you use acrylic shelves instead?
I might use them as free floating shelves in a different room. But im curious if anyone has a more clever idea.
Thanks!
Pic: Milsbo tall conversion in progress; acrylic shelves & lights should arrive next week.

✨ New Cabinet Reveal ✨ Venom Nursery
My Åkerbär for cuttings and young plants:
- 2x Barrina T5 LED, 14h/day
- USB fan
- ~26°C / 75-85%RH, live moss on the bottom
- Venom cuttings, a young Venom, 'Bulbasaur', corms in sphagnum under domes
What would you improve? Do the domes still make sense in here, and is the live moss a mold/gnat risk long term?
Also looking for small plants that like this climate and stay compact. EU sellers a plus (Belgium).
Thanks!
