Family reunification

Hi! I am a German citizen, my husband is a Mexican citizen, living in the US as a permanent resident. I am currently pregnant. We were debating for a long time on where to start our lives together and decided that Germany would be the better choice as a family. He came here visa free since Mexicans do not need a visa. Our baby will be born soon. Is there any way for him to stay here after the 3 months are over and not having to go back to the US? Of course take the German classes and everything else that is needed here? I already reached out to our Ausländerbehörde but they never answered and they wrote in an automatic reply that they don’t do Beratung, so I’m not even sure if they will answer. Crazy to me but yeah, that’s how I ended up being here. What forms do we have to submit? Can he travel back and forth during the process? What do they need from me? Thank you everyone and have a great start of the week!

VISA process Moved from Heaven to Munich

• Upvotes

Been living in a place where Ausländeramt Ebersberg had been available for me and contact had been relatively easy.

This easy contact had been super important for me because I am working while doing a recognition as a physio.

In the middle of a soon expiring Aufenthaltstitel I found an apartment in Munich and moved on it.

I am in a storm of details and I would like to talk to anyone somehow from the Servicestelle für Zuwanderung und Einbürgerung (SZE) to know what steps to take next.

Getting no replies on General Contacts and there are no appointments available for my topic.

How do people in Munich reach the SZE?

Family Reunion Visa: Spouse Has 18b Permit but Fixed-Term Work Contract

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for a family reunification visa (Ehegattennachzug) at the German Embassy in Rabat in November 2026 to join my spouse in Germany.

My wife has a 18b residence permit that’s valid for 4 years. She recently changed jobs, and the change was approved by both the Ausländerbehörde and Agentur für Arbeit. Her Zusatzblatt has also been updated with her new employer.

The only thing I’m a bit worried about is her work contract. It’s a fixed-term contract that ends in September 2027, so she’ll have around 10 months left when I submit my application.

We have all our documents ready, but I’m wondering if the Ausländerbehörde could see the short remaining contract as a problem, even though her residence permit is valid for 4 years.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or had their visa approved under similar circumstances?

Thanks a lot for any advice!

I have been trying to find an interview appointment for past 3 weeks but no slots visible in this category. All other German consulates have slots available, all other categories also available. Anyone else facing this?
I am tired of calling CSP and VFS and checking slots every few hours. Any leads will be appreciated ! Ty

Anyone from Kerala in Germany converting their Indian driving licence?

Hi everyone! Is anyone from Kerala currently going through or has recently completed the process of converting their Indian driving licence to a German one in Berlin?
I’m facing an issue with my licence issued by the Kozhikode RTO. The Berlin driving licence authority says the original paper-format licence I submitted is a copy, but Kerala RTO has confirmed that this is how the licence was issued and that my licence is digitalised.
I have been trying to contact them via email but i didn’t get any response for over 3 months.
Has anyone from Kerala faced a similar situation during the conversion process?
If so, how did you resolve it? Did you submit a DL Extract or an official confirmation letter from the RTO? Any advice or experience would be really helpful.

Thank you in advance!
