Early Modern 1526–1757 CE Battle of Godavari

Post image

Naseer Jung started off from Aurangabad and came towards the Godavari. When the Peshwa’s family was assembling at Pune, the moves against Naseer Jung began in earnest. The battle was fought largely to the south and west of Aurangabad and is often called the battle of Aurangabad or the Godavari. The Peshwa was supported by his most reliable aides: Chimaji Appa, Pilaji Jadhavrao, Malharrao Holkar, and Ranoji Shinde. The Marathas crowded Naseer Jung and attacked him when the ground was just right for battle, forcing terms.
