Occupation Irony of India.
India was known as the Golden Bird till the British looted it. Indians were oppressed and enslaved and whatnot. Some people were supporting the noble cause. And fighting against injustice and oppression. There was blood. There were tears. There was suffering and torment.
Simon Commission 1927 Official name: Indian Statutory Commission
Some of us already know about this; for those who don't, for them — This commission was established to decide India's political future. In total, there were seven members. And the fascinating part was that none of them were Indian. A foreign group deciding someone else's future. Indian leaders were outraged. And the famous slogan: "Simon, go back" came into existence
After a long walk to freedom, India was free! Now what was the point of telling all that? You will see.
Friedrich Nietzsche famously said — "He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee"
George Orwell in Animal Farm — Moral of the story The animals were fighting oppression. They were demanding freedom and were fighting for a noble cause. But in the end, we saw how they became the oppressors.
India is not much different from it. They represent what Nietzsche and George Orwell were trying to convey. The oppressed are now oppressors. The colonized are now colonizers. (Same goes for Israel) The more you fight oppression, Injustice, the more desensitized you get. Intentionally or unintentionally, you start participating in it.
Kashmir — oppression and occupation for years and years, and it is going to hit a century now. We are being oppressed, enslaved and subjected to systematic humiliation and torment. - Media oppression. - Transnational repression. - Most militarized zone. - Longest internet shutdown in the whole history. - Abduction of innocent people. - People used as human shields. - Mass rape. - Half-widow. - Massacres. - And the human rights violations
We have to prove loyalty, whatever that means Loyalty on our own land. Fascinating! Isn't it?
No freedom of speech, and if you are outside and you speak, your family members get targeted.
A mother is still roaming here and there, trying to find one whom none has heard.
Half widow: A term specially dedicated to us.
Sexual violence, used as oppression.
Many more
Kashmiris living under oppression, and suddenly the internet shuts down. A valley full of people gets isolated, aloof and alienated from the outside world. What are their oppressors thinking? What are they plotting? Are they going to kill more? Now, in the parliament, one of the biggest decisions for Kashmir is going to take place: its future. A parliament meeting dedicated to us, and none of us are allowed to be present there. A foreign group is deciding our future! And then Article 370 gets removed. If you don't understand how important it was, it gave us the right to have our own flag, the right to own this land, and many more things. (Basically the Simon Commission but on another level)
And not to forget the promise they made at the beginning! The promise that is inherited and that we still live by. The promise that should not be a promise. The Plebiscite Right to self-determination! A birthright that we have been stripped of. How they were fighting the oppressors, and now they are doing the same atrocities.
And the most heartbreaking part about it is that Indians now They abuse us. They call us terrorists. Invade land, oppress their people, and when the people resist, label them as terrorists! Classic oppressor move.
Hope!
