DESCRIPTION: In 2026, John has become an architect and works with his brother Marcus. His mother tells him that Hal, who has been living in Rushville to make amends for the 2016 incident, wants to apologize. John meets Hal at a café, but they fail to reconcile, and John breaks his nose. After returning home, John learns from Kerry, who began a relationship with Hal, that Hal has died. John uses a beacon set up by Guy Gardner to summon him to Rushville, where he is met with hostility from Billy and the townspeople. A fight breaks out, forcing Kerry to arrest John. The next day, Guy visits John, who asks him to retrieve Hal's suit and ring for his funeral. Guy also reveals that Sinestro has escaped from prison. After leaving the station, John encounters Maggie, a waitress from the café, who demands compensation for the damage he caused her family in 2016 or she will tell Kerry that he was the one who broke Hal's nose. After Hal's funeral, John digs up his grave, takes his ring, and summons the hologram.

After seeing the new trailer, what about this? After the battle in ep 5, Kerry finds Hal at the destroyed hotel and takes him to the hospital to be healed with the manhunter tech. Afterwards, Hal learns from Kerry about all the different alien tech so he uses them to clone himself. It's the clone that goes to prison in place of the real Hal who continues incognito. Also, real Hal kills clone Hal in 2026 to further hide himself while he contrives a way to get his ring back or investigates further because his "gut" says something is still not right in Rushville. However, while this can explain real Hal being alive, it doesn't explain who "broke Sinestro out of Spazerban.

I think hal will not come to the life. John will take the ring. Sinister will go to the jail
3
u/itsabachelorslife 25d ago
Just a stupid thought, Kerry is also a manhunter, she shot Hal.
1
u/she_thinks3 21d ago
Although I dont think shes a manhunter i know that she very well must know everything going on. She always has and is really good at lying about it. She knew in ep. 3 that Zoe didnt die and acted distressed, she lied about not knowing the benefactor. She has been lying/concealing things the whole time
1
u/itsabachelorslife 21d ago
The other thought I had was she is a guardian.
1
u/she_thinks3 20d ago
Hmm, that's interesting, what all made you gather that that might be a possibility? I know Hal mentioned looking her up and that she seemed who she said she was (aka from Gotham), but if she were a guardian I would then feel skeptical of the guardians because that would also mean they actually were protecting the manhunter and my biggest question would be why. Im leaning more towards her not being a guardian, but im curious of what made you gather that.
1
u/itsabachelorslife 20d ago
It’s a puzzle box (the show), writers like to have the twist.
Nothing based on comic lore, just watching and enjoying the show & had the thought. First as a manhunter then a sleeper agent guardian. Something just struck me in that episode.
Unless that was the writers plan, to get suckers like me.
4
u/pumpkangs 25d ago
Very heavy Lost influence in this episode. It was directed by Stephen Williams who corrected a bunch of Lost episodes
The end with Hal coming back from his body in a coffin is pure Locke/MIB energy

u/cbateman101 26d ago
Having Guy get a new ring, that's a big moment, it seems pretty clear now that we will have (at least) two Lanterns going forward, the second clearly being John. The real question is, is there a path to Hal actually being alive/being brought back (which appears could be the case), and if he is, would he not get his ring back? It seems almost impossible that John wouldn't get his own ring (based on what we would expect from the show) but if Hal isn't dead, would it really resolve with John taking Hal's? I'm thinking that if Hal does come back, John's own ring will be completely new (not to say he can't borrow Hal's temporarily). I'm not a fan of the idea of bringing back Hal only for him to no longer have a ring (and who would be?). I suspect his death is part of the situation that explains how Earth suddenly has 3 Lanterns rather than the designated 1, which on a meta level was what we would expect to be the result of this season before it started. Hal being dumped on in the story would lead you to believe otherwise, but Lindelof loves his big twist (Manhattan in Watchmen for example), so excited to see how it plays out.

u/DungeonCrawler552 26d ago
Honestly I think the show or movie can continue with John and the Halogram. Since that Hal is a lot nicer and can be a better teacher to John
4
u/Ambitious_Emu355 Me and mogo were still right here. 26d ago
I can see hal being ressurected by manhunter tech, but that would require manhunters blood.
My guess is noah
1
u/ksixnine 25d ago
How are they going to pull that off?
Zoe married into the Macon family, she isn’t Kerry’s mother, and per the conversation with Antaan she was infertile: technically Noah should be an Earthling.
Unless Zoe made a blood oath with Noah, or left behind a pint of blood for him to ingest when he turned 18, none of her blood should still be here.
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
antaan said they couldn’t conceive that doesn’t mean Zoey/manhunter couldn’t have a child. Maybe they were incompatible or maybe he was sterile…who knows. But I’d lay a lot that Kerry couldn’t conceive and the miracle she was talking about was Noah. Zoey somehow created Noah for Kerry
1
u/Ambitious_Emu355 Me and mogo were still right here. 25d ago
I think that zoe has constructed noah and gave him to kerry to raise
12
u/samclops 26d ago
I have a feeling that hal's ring is actually de-commissioned and that they reveal that John is powering it by being the first GL to be able to make constructs himself(if they stay somewhat close to the comics) which will be the payoff to the question of how he was able to keep the bird construct alive without a ring
3
u/ProgressiveOverlorde 26d ago
oh shi, also hals ring being 5% battery won't matter. cuz John can keep constructs almost permant. What if he creates a construct of a ring because his will power is so strong
3
8
u/landofthebeez 26d ago
Man, I love this show. John Stewart is so tired of everyone 😆
And Guy fits right in the grumpy lantern club.
Rip Hal
10
u/IndecisiveMate 26d ago
Ok, that was pretty good.
Random thoughts:
- Batman mentioned!
- Guy said the Ring was depowered, but I guess the Guardians didn't have the due diligence to just drain it to zero. My guess now is that John will have the Halogram open the box in the Fortress of Storage, which could have the ring battery.
- Maybe this wouldn't have made sense, but I was lowkey hoping the ring would fly out of the coffin and just go to John.
- As cool as the Halogram ending was, it would honestly have been cooler if the Halogram was the older Hal. Or maybe it was. It's hard to see since it's so dark.
- OH SHIT! I just rewatched it. That is older Hal. He rerecorded himself. I love that!
- I saw a post saying the blond girl was a lantern and I believed it. I guess she isn't.
- The juxtaposition of Hal's almost empty funeral and his eulogy clearly beign written for a large crowd is both hilarious and sad. I'm going to miss him.
- I wonder if John will still become a lantern. Maybe the Guardians will deem Earth needs 2?
6
u/LettuceLegitimate654 26d ago
They actually mentioned in an earlier episode that it was an older ring, and this was sort of a trick, kind of like pumping the gas before you try to start the car being the only way to start it. If you hit it directly on something right on the jewel, it gives it 5% charge but if I remember correctly, it only works once.
Maybe I butchered that I was drunk.
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
Yeah until it’s re charged again Then when it reaches zero again the trick can be used again to draw it back up to 5
6
u/Winter_Chocolate8329 26d ago
I believe the ring was decommissioned. However Hal's ring was buggy as hell. He's wacked it more then once before. So the ring appeared fully zeroed out. John knew that if you walked it there would be 5% remaining.
4
u/Embarrassed_Piano_62 26d ago
- I saw a post saying the blond girl was a lantern and I believed it. I guess she isn't.
She´s the girl John gave a watch during the destruction
- The juxtaposition of Hal's almost empty funeral and his eulogy clearly beign written for a large crowd is both hilarious and sad. I'm going to miss him.
I actually read it as sarcasm

I have some conflicting feelings about the writing and portraying if certain characters in this series. Obviously there is a lot of nuance left out below, but anyone care to share their opinions on my thoughts below?
The Culprit: The Manhunter (Zoe Macon) owned the weaponized satellite tech and consciously made the decision to fire the orbital lasers. She did this to completely wipe out any evidence and threats to her survival, entirely driven by her past murder of Abin Sur.
Hal's Actions: Hal Jordan did not cause the devastation; he was the one attempting to bring a manipulative murdering manhunter to justice while putting his life on the line trying to destroy the satellites and intercept the lasers and gunfire to protect the citizens. The destruction of Rushville and the murder of it's citizens was the Manhunter's doing. Zoe Macon consciously chose to fire the orbital lasers to wipe out the town in order to escape justice from murdering Abin Sur.
John Stewart v Hal Jordan? In the comics and DC animation, they're my favorite 2 lanterns. But this show seems to want me to despise both of them.

3
u/engineeeeer7 26d ago
The people don't know that though. I'm sure all that was classified. All they know is Hal came back and worked with some guys who murdered the town leader and his wife. And while that happened there were bombings.
But Hal was also aiding some of the guys who blew themselves up. Not a huge leap to think the other explosions were caused by them.

u/markc230 27d ago
So, Hal had the ring the whole time, they buried him with it AND he could have gone to the fortress of Storage anytime and charged it up? Is that right???
Which if it is the case that is one hell of a crazy idea and does fit in with his redemption arc. In the preview for 7 they have the Halogram and John, and I'm guessing Johns going to have to say the oath, because I'm guessing the clone cant?
23
u/Thorfinn-Karlsefni85 26d ago
Did you watched the show with your eyes and ears closed? Hal no longer had the ring, that's why John played a ruse to Guy to bring the ring so he can use the ring to investigate the murder.

I’m curious why they forged a new ring for Guy. Can the choice of a ring not be overridden (though John wasn’t quite chosen either). Or, as they told us many times, it was bad optics?
4
u/Orange_T0RNAD0 27d ago
I’m surprised we didn’t se kilowog Tomar re or saint walker, also Alan Scott doesn’t exist in this universe I know Hal was a “criminal” and his ring was decommissioned so it makes sense why only carol and guy showed up but besides that I really liked this episode

I can’t stand John Stewart he is so damn unlikeable but every character in the show automatically loves him despite him not doing anything to warrant it. Hes dull and cliche
-10
u/CapOk1892 27d ago
I don't know what's worse. Boring John being Mary Sue or old bitter Hal being utterly humiliated.
1
u/asukaisshu 26d ago
I dun think someone being trained since he was 5 or 10 is a mary sue lmao. He is trained by a father from the military and condition to be stoic asf. Bro even went on multiple kill missions alone as a sniper. His steadiness and patients is both his greatest feat and weakness.
2
6
u/tforbia 27d ago
I think i missed something. Why did Hal go to prison.? What crime did he commit? Or did the Rushvillians frame him for all the death and destruction the Manhunter caused?
2
u/engineeeeer7 26d ago
He aided the aliens who suicide bombed a chunk of town and murdered a few people. With the Manhunter dead it's also likely they attributed the orbital strikes to them too.
5
2
u/Appropriate_Net7664 27d ago
Exactly what you said. Someone had to take the fall
0
u/ComicCapybara 27d ago
Fall...for what? Zoe is dead and can be confirmed not to be human. Hal is a known decorated hero and was seen saving multiple lives. What is there to "fall" about? This is basic super hero shenanigans. This is like arresting the Flash because the Rogues caused property damage.
5
u/iron-wyvern 27d ago
The town never found out about Zoe being an extraterrestrial genocidal war criminal robot. Even if they did find out, I doubt they would care. To them, the very generous benefactor that gave them new lives, free healthcare and futuristic technology was suddenly and unfairly targeted by Hal Jordan and the Antaan crowd.
The only evidence to her being a manhunter was her heart and John gave it away to the Guardians.
Hal probably got accused of Zoe's murder and took the blame for the attack on the town. There is no proof that Zoe was a criminal, they just found her body with her heart carved out and the Guardians kept quiet since they wanted to get rid of Hal.
The show has been very clear that the GLC are NOT recognized by the authorities of Earth, which would make Hal a vigilante to the eyes of the government.
1
u/ComicCapybara 27d ago
How do you think a decorated publicly acclaimed hero who has saved the day multiple times would take the blame for an attack perpetrated by atmospheric weaponized satellites and, even then, if found guilty, only get 10 years?
1
u/iron-wyvern 27d ago
Again, there was no evidence of Zoe being a criminal and Hal was the only known superpowered being involved. The case probably settled that it was a dispute between Green Lantern and a civilian with access to high tech (Zoe) and that their fight caused the destruction.
Everyone in Rushville took Zoe's side 100% since they were willing to kill Hal in the first place. He got blamed for the whole thing and he just accepted his time im jail. That's why he "took the fall" and that's why he calls John a murderer since he is the one who took Zoe out...
1
1
u/ComicCapybara 27d ago
The case probably settled that it was a dispute between Green Lantern and a civilian with access to high tech (Zoe) and that their fight caused the destruction
That would mean she's a super villain like so many others.
Everyone in Rushville took Zoe's side 100%
Except you would have footage, orbital if nothing else, and satellite beams are not the same thing as lantern constructs.
He got blamed for the whole thing
Genuinely think, if he did get blamed for all this, why would he only get 10 years?

u/Ilahni 26d ago edited 26d ago
I agree with you and there's a lot of headcannon work being done in these comments.
The fact is, Hal (even by John's estimation in ep5) did not intend (or had any way of knowing) that the car was going to blow up.
Plus, if that was the reason Hal went to jail, it'd mean that John pressed charges over being burned up and then completely healed by the alien genocidal war criminal that blew up the town as a diversion to save itself.
That seems kinda dumb?
My best guess is all the lives lost. Hal didn't mind risking the safety of everyone in town, but he seemed to underestimate the lengths Zoe/Manhunter would go to. A lot of people died and someone had to take the "fall" and Hal was it, with maybe guilt over his role in all that happened.
That's still a stretch because Hal and John stopped a literal attack from outer space. That people in Rushville blame them is understandable, Zoe was like a god to them, but the rest of the world? Hal who saved however many lives for however long he was GL and he gets a decade in jail for screwing up during an alien attack?
Unless we get more info, it's frankly poorly written. I think they just needed a quick explanation for what Hal would have been up to during a decade without a ring and jail was the easy fix.
Edit: typos & stuff
1
u/Appropriate_Net7664 26d ago
Because he’s a super hero so they went easier on him? Idk man you have access to the same information I do

u/Moeymomo1999 27d ago
He can use the Halogram to open the box in the storage unit right? Then he can charge the ring and recite the oath?
3
6
u/NightwingB01___ 27d ago
That would mean he had a backup lantern cause John gave the guardians the ring and the lantern
1
u/Moeymomo1999 27d ago
True but it would surprise me that in all his years as a lantern he would be able to sneak an extra lantern in case this happened. If not what else could be in the box?

u/Queasy-Primary-3438 27d ago
Guy having a green lantern energy drink is hilarious.
2
u/Delicious-Future8630 26d ago
Even as a newbie to DC comics, it did not fly over my head and I thought it was hilarious, so random 😂
11
u/averagecounselor 27d ago
I laughed so hard but It makes sense since Hal was so broke. Ads can make serious money for one whose day job doesn’t technically come with a steady paycheck. ( aside from a fat diamond)
12
u/A_Polite_Noise 27d ago
The biggest evidence for the cloning theory to me is that they show a scar on John's arm in ep. 5 when he's healed, call attention to it by having him notice and rub it, call further attention to it by having Zoe explain its a tissue sample to duplicate his skin, when they didn't need to do any of that.
They added a line, special effect scar makeup, and spent time showing it to us but we would have believed the device works without that tidbit. The only reason to add that detail and focus on it is to set something up, some later reveal or relevance.
And then the mid-season trailer shows us Hal in what looks like the high-tech Macon slaughterhouse with a similar mark:

2
u/TheCakeWarrior12 27d ago
Especially if the pair of legs in the final shot is Halogram. John takes his body, somehow acquires the tissue machine, and then makes a new body for Hal/clones him
2
u/Snapple--jr 26d ago
Remember the machine regenerates so maybe they’ll bring hals body there to revive him
9
u/outdoorsnstuffz 27d ago
U either got a good theory or hitting that vape too hard we will see next week

u/dudemanbob18 27d ago
I wanted the autopsy lady to find he has a crystal heart
5
u/W0lfsb4ne74 27d ago
That would be so insane, and it would give the opportunity for Hal to be alive and held captive somewhere. It looks like they're opting for permadeath with him because there hasn't been a reveal at the end of the episode. The real question is, whether Jon decided to steal Hal's ring to give him another shot at being a Lantern, or if he thinks the Hal-ogram has information to solve who killed him.

7
u/Ross_E_Geller 27d ago
He also needs a lantern to charge the ring
2
u/Deep_Let_9445 26d ago
Which is there in the warehouse and he can take a walk with hologram hal to warehouse and unlock it and charge and go ... In birghtest day ,in the blackest night ......
3
u/nsommers25 27d ago
He needs more than 5 percent? I assumed maybe any amount of charge could be enough for him to take control of it by saying the oath. I’m guessing once shiii gets real though, Guy will charge it for him.
I also saw someone say Hal clone might will Hal back with a full new body and ring which I like that theory too
2
u/darthdooku2585 26d ago
John kept that bird construct alive, so I assume the halogram will have quite some time
14
u/Crotean 27d ago
That was a fucking episode. This show struggles with the sci-fi stuff, but damn are they doing John and Hals characters right. Best episode of the season so far. I need to know what is going on with Sinestro. I'm half suspecting he killed Hal now.
6
u/Shamn_it 27d ago
I think we all have to come to peace with the fact that this is not a movie. It was clear from the start as to where this was going. While I wish it had more cool Intergalactic stuff, this is also the most engaging piece of content I have seen from DC in years. Lanterns and The Penguin are powerhouses when it comes to writing. All the high budget stuff is being reserved for the DCU movies. Although I do agree that Lindelof could have done more here considering what he did with Watchmen.
3
u/Crotean 27d ago
Last episode is clearly being saved for the budget. They have like 15 million an episode and they have barely touched sci-fi stuff. We know Sinestro is with John last episode, hopefully we see some actual alien stuff. I am enjoying the grounded version of the lanterns but at some point you can't just ignore all that even if it's not a movie.

It's the new Halogram, the one version who went to prison.
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
No it’s still the version from 2006 that talked to John and Hal in 2016. Hal lost the ring immediately after the battle in rushville John gave it to the guardians and they locked it up. He never had a chance to update it. But that’s ok I liked the Hal o gram he was like a character all of his own

Ring charged 5 percent im crying
1
u/Delicious-Future8630 26d ago
I am still giggeling about this, like was this ring ever charged more than 5% and how is it that difficult to charge it, like just sleep beside your lantern or sth?
1
u/Fahrenheit130 26d ago
If you tap the ring when its empty, it recharges 5%, kind of like safety juice.
Hal says earlier in the season
2
u/masterdogwalker 27d ago
Idk if they just don’t know how to write John Stewart or if Kyle chandler is just that good but this show doesn’t hit the same without Kyle
2
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
They can do good with John but the issue is that Kyle chandler steals this show. All the actors who play John, Kerry, Macon, Antaan all of them have done great jobs but Kyle chandler is the best part of this show. I’ve never saw him in anything else before but after watching him in this I’m looking up his other work.
1
u/namewithak 21d ago
Start with Friday Night Lights! He won best actor emmy for it and it's just landed as #14 on the NYT Best Shows since the 2000s list (should be top 10 imo).

u/ArchStanton75 27d ago
Minor complaint: Minneapolis to Rushville, NE is almost 10 hours and they’re treating it like a quick drive. Also, they needed to choose the season for the episode. Otherwise, rock solid that had me immediately thinking it’s too long to next week.
2
u/mcfly54 26d ago
The seasons really bugged me. I was so confused how far apart set pieces were set in this episode. There's a few inches of snow at the murder scene but the funeral is green grass and green trees?
2
u/ArchStanton75 25d ago
And a funeral is typically within a week. Granted, weather on the Great Plains shifts quickly, but still…
6
u/Specialist_Unit_5078 27d ago
It’s not Minneapolis, it’s Midway City. That’s in Kansas or Missouri.
1
1
u/ArchStanton75 26d ago
Assuming Kansas City or somewhere close by, that’s still the same drive time. I know firsthand because I make that exact trip periodically. My wife’s family lives in Rushville.
1
u/121scoville 27d ago
I don't think they did--that little montage of his truck as he drove was definitely the indicator that "despite everything" he immediately hopped into the car and did a long drive to go hear Hal's apology.
3
u/kriticosART 27d ago
It is a quick drive, Austin is just as far from Dallas and my brother drives here for every party like it's nothing.

14
u/Street-Common-4023 27d ago
John you really are crazy like guy said. Bro dug up his ring
2
u/Delicious-Future8630 26d ago
Really not clear on this yet: They met before he died and hatched a plan?
Loved how he is just standing there, answering a phonecall while grave-robbing 😂
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
No they didn’t have a plan John just knew the Hal o gram might be able to help him get in the vault and also help him solve Hal’s murder. Hal showed John the trick of how to get the ring back up to 5 from zero. So John had guy steal Hal’s ring from oa to bury Hal with it. But his real plan was to get to the Hal o gram
13
u/aureliamix 27d ago
Having Halogram around forever is fucking great. He’ll will himself a body one day
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
I like that idea But even if he can’t have his own body I like the idea of him coming out of the ring all the time to train and help John. It’s a perfect way to keep Hal John and guy all 3

The girl is from the last episode. She was at the wreckage near the end if the episode.
John hands him her clock and tells her "I'm Sorry".
She is gonna tell the Sheriff John was around Hal, he would be prime suspect, as he is the one that broke Hal's nose.

Respect to guy for actually doing such things
I find it ridiculous the guardians don’t respect Hal to give him a proper service. I don’t like that the show did such a thing. The guardians are always sad when one of there own is killed ring less or not
1
u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
They don’t know Hal has died for one. Nobody does yet except the ppl in rushville and the ppl at the funeral. Also the guardians wanted rid of Hal they didn’t trust him because of how close he was to sinestro even though Hal took down sinestro

so next episode is all about Hal.... we're getting carol as part of the backstory me thinks...

This episode reminded me of how more grounded and kinda slow the finale of Peacemaker S2 felt after how action packed the previous one was but at least here we got two more epsiodes
5

Considering next week’s episode is meant to be a backstory on Hal. It does make me feel like the finale is going to maybe do a 180 and leave us off a major cliffhanger.

I hope not. Even though we'll see more of John, I can't imagine much screen time will come from any upcoming cinematic apperances. We don't need a peacemaker S2 kind of cliffhanger (though that may also come to play in future movies I guess)

The trailer for next week doesn’t show anything for Hal’s backstory, and focuses on the 2026 plot. I think we’ll get both the backstory and more plot progression

I think it will be mostly set in Hal’s past maybe Hal o gram telling Kerry and John stuff about Hal’s past but also a little bit of 2026 progression like you said

The waitress is the girl at the end of ep 5 when John gave her the watch at the motel after John shot the manhunter.

I just don’t understand why they tried to make it seem like she actually has much leverage over John. That didn’t make sense at all.

She knew he was at the cafe with Hal before his murder, maybe? I wasn't really sure, but she mentioned she was going to tell the sheriff if he didn't pay up.

u/bucketofsteam 27d ago
I mean john straight up ignored her lol. I think she is just there as a personal reminder of a character who we directly saw affected by hal's + zoe + alien bombers battle.

I was thinking "man, it'd be cool if they did that was the girl from last episode" when she was at the front of Hal's apartment.
Then they actually did it, love this show, lmao.

Episode isn’t boring lmao
Actually quite entertaining in a little sense
John family dynamics is all messed up. Aaron he is paying for his album to do. Marcus he is the one working with. His dad is a mess trying to get his attention I don’t see how he could’ve killed Hal. His mom and Hal talked but are we sure that was actually Hal. This is quite interesting.
Sinestro is fucking out. Someone broke him out like wtf
Guy knows of such but isn’t doing anything??

I mean I know the show runners all but confirmed Hal was actually dead, but fuck man! I’m in disbelief he actually is??
At least the Halogram gives us more time with Kyle

Noah or Kerry killed Hal
3
u/mighty_phi 27d ago
I don't think Kerry did it.
Either Noah or the girl from the café, maybe? She did really seem to resent Hal and John

Noah is obviously a manhunter. Hal likely found out and Kerry killed him to keep Noah safe.

u/Embarrassed_Piano_62 26d ago
But why would she then call John? Why not just hide the body.
2
u/travisr91 26d ago
You know that is a good question. Maybe she's trying to set John up to take the fall.
Yeah idk now lmao

I’m going with Kerry did to protect the fact that Noah is most likely a Manhunter or hybrid at least

Was him using the knife to chip something off in episode 5 mean it somehow stopped to being decommissioned or what?

Another amazing episode even if it was a complete 180 from last week. I cannot wait for these last two episodes

Weakest episode of the whole series .... There was a lot of scenes here that did nothing for the story. The pacing was super weird in this one. The Guy Gardner and Carol Ferris cameos I expected more out of. Definitely felt the most CW to me. At least the ending picked up the story a bit, but overall the episode was so underwhelming...

What are going on about? This series gets better with every episode

We waited a long time for the story to explain more about what happened to Hal but all we got was more of bashing Hal and the Green Lanterns. I get he made mistakes but really ... He spent decades as the Green Lantern.. I'm sure he did a lot of heroics. And only Carol Ferris and a Guy Gardner who had to be begged showed up for his funeral? Made no sense to me aside from budget constraints. The intro and ending were good but there was a lot of bloat in this one.

Long time? You waited one week lmao. People these days are ridiculous. This show has incredible pacing. We are on the 2nd timeline by episode 6 of an 8 episode show. I want to take you back to the good old days where shows would spend entire seasons on specific plotlines. Back then, tons of shows would be routinely approved for 5+ seasons so they just would pad the shit out of plot progression. Lanterns literally throws you into the mystery right away on episode 1. No origin story and how they met. Also, never compare it to a CW show. I watched every CW show when they aired. The writing quality here is leagues ahead of them. Now, I agree with the general criticism on the lack of intergalactic stuff but I would much rather watch this than the DC live action movies lmao.

I'm glad many of us feel as you do. Even IGN gave it a 6/10 for basically being boring after episode 5. I'm not sure what show people are watching, but it's been amazing so far

I am a Gen-Z but I am so glad I grew up doing a lot reading, writing and watching a variety of shows/movies. It's sad because my generation especially seems to severely lack in these traits. Most of my digital exposure started around the later years of highschool so I escaped the attention span crisis. I remember Dragon Ball Z taking up like 50 episodes for one fight lol. People complain about everything. Their expectations are sky-high but they also want seasons to air year after year with top tier CGI and polish somehow. If every episode doesn't have the world ending, they won't like it lol

Media literacy overall is sadly declining. I’m glad you were able to build that up!

Possibly the saddest funeral I’ve seen on TV in a long time.

u/DefactoOverlord 26d ago
Superhero for 30 years, no family, no friends. Like 5 people came to his funeral. That's so fucking sad.

u/Admirable_Lab_8841 22d ago
True he didn’t have any family but if people would have know Hal Jordan died there would have been a lot there. Remember the medical examiner told Kerry she would hold off on filing until Monday so nobody outside of rushville knows Hal is dead except guy and carol ferris and John’s brother. Now the people of rushville some know he is dead but not one person in that town would go to his funeral. They all hated him. But everywhere else on earth regardless of him going to jail and losing the ring ppl would have come to his funeral.
