QUESTION Where’d this shot go?

Post image

This was at the very end of the first teaser. Obviously it was deleted, but I’m simply curious as to why it’s gone, and where it would’ve taken place in the narrative.

Obviously this is just fun speculation, but still.

Bro I literally remembered about this in the first trailer and I looked it up and I was right literally what happened to this? And they catfished us in the trailer having John and Hal going into the city hall meeting too

Of all the things that never went anywhere, the one that still bothers me the most is that when John found Hal dead he immediately checked his hand for the ring, leading us to believe that where the ring is was part of the mystery that would unfurl. Only to find out John knows he hasnt had the ring in a decade at that point.

That’s very true it never explained why he did that I think they just did that to pull us into that mystery in the first episode

He was checking the hands for fistfighting bruises

But he brushed the finger where he had his ring

Also I could have sworn in the first episode, the finger had a mark where the ring used to be (implying that he always wore it and never took it off), but when the scene happens again later the hand is perfectly unblemished. I’ll have to rewatch but it was something that stuck out to me immediately in the finale

That has always bugged me because it's something that was only done as a shock for the audience at the end of episode 1 but makes zero sense for him to check if Hal had the ring in episode 6

Which is valid, but its just one of many things where I realized, upon my second watch, that led me to overvalue the early episodes during my first watch.

I was going around telling everyone I know its a 10/10 show. And a lot of it was because of these ideas of mysteries hinted at, that we find out meant nothing, implied depth that didnt pan out into narrative depth.

Yeah that explains why he only checked one hand and specifically only brushed the finger he wore the ring on - that must be his fighting finger!

I don’t think that was an investigative check. I think he felt guilty about taking the ring from Hal because he felt responsible for his death.

It looks like it takes place when the satellites were all bombing the city and he said "God damn manhunters"

You’re right, it’s immediately after he uses the ring to push the red truck off the road. He’s yelling at the cop to give him the handcuffs before flying off to apprehend Zoe.

That actually makes a lot of sense! Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the fight in rushville originally had a "one shot" take that was cut up in editing.

Apparently they filled half an episode where 5 lanterns come to save the town from zoe and they started filming an episode that gave Zoe's backstory too that took place on other planets

Source?

yes

I just looked it up. The Zoe backstory was animated or...going to be animated.

It makes sense though. This was a super high cost show and the money doesn't show on the screen. The entire show took place either in a car or on some country road, or a dinner yet it had a 16 to 20 million dollar budget per episode. It makes no sense. Them filming partial episodes then changing the story line makes sense. Because I mean really this show could have had the budget of some basic cable station like FX or something.

To put it into perspective the last season of game of thrones was 8 million per episode and every episode was and Epic war with Dragon fights. It makes no sense this show is double and they are just driving around in John Stewarts truck

the last season of game of thrones was 8 million per episode

Season 8 had a budget of 90 million and 6 episodes coming out to an average of $15M per episode.

Ok.... GoT had dragon battles.........Lanterns had........bad wire work?

No one, including me is disputing your point, but that doesn't mean misinformation shouldn't be corrected.

It looks like where Hal is asking for the cuffs from the cop that is nearby, right before he flies towards Zoe at the water tower.

I’m glad we’re this discussing this bc idk if anyone else noticed the behind the scenes portion of this episode and the rushville attack specifically doesn’t line up with what we see. What I mean is that I think it’s painfully obvious they cut huge parts of that scene out from the final release, they describe the scene being Children of Men-esque, but I think they cut out a huge part of all that. I also think the cop who gave Hal the cuffs must’ve had a line cut out, it just seems like his character was more involved in the scene before the final release of the episode.

People still haven't learned that trailera include scenes that aren't always in the final product for advertising purposes. This is why i never watch trailers. Misleading as hell

Or for hiding purposes, like Marvel's trailers..

"Oh, my god. Oh no. I better dodge this trailer, there might be a .5 second shot that's not in the final production, how would I cope."

Looks like he's yelling at people to get to cover or something like that. Guess the showrunners realized the people of Rushville would rather get blown up by a red laser than follow Hal Jordan's instructions.

Through his my head

u/krypter3 4h ago

They defs filmed more scenes of the Rushville battle but ended up cutting it. They were determined to literally have no actual battles at all in the show

I think it's from when he yells at the officer to give him the handcuffs which he then uses on Zoe.
