💼 Career Thinking of moving to Lebanon
Saba7oooo
Let's say I'm open to come to lebanon in a couple of years with my wife and daughter and open a business in dahieh(location non nogociable)
We have a comfortable lifestyle in Canada and would not like to downgrade it. So rent + estirak/ta2a 24/7 let's say 1500$ USD per month.
If we have 40-50k USD ready to invest in Lebanon (nothing restaursnt related), how impossible would it be to be able to make 5-6K USD per month after monthly business expenses (rent+employees+ electricity+water+taxes and wtv).
We dont have a specialty that would translate to a direct opportunity in Lebanon. My wife is a SAHM mom but with a daycare teaching degree, I am a manager in a car dealership. We wouldn't necessarily want to work in those fields as realities are completely different in Lebanon.
Seeing online, ta2a installation company, ishtirak, B2B tejir bel jemleh, water filtration installation in homes to have ready to drink water from 7anafiyyeh, equipment and tool rental, car/motsik rental mar8oubeen.
I know lebanese people live on cigs+argileh+coffee+ CSGO lol but it's not the kind of business that would like to open.
Im very good with sales, inventory managment, pricing, understanding clientele and budgeting. That's why tejir B2B would be logical for me. Run by my wife and I.
Thank you for your input!!

The comments are very negative and demotivating. I have many friends who moved back from abroad to Lebanon, including myself after 12 years in the UK. Your kids will be a lot better off if you and mom are happy in a place where you feel alive.
With regards to business, think about something that gives you the highest leverage, aka building on your experience but also fulfill a desire in the market, and at the same time you’d be happy doing it.
Start with your sales experience, and what is something you always wanted to do? Do you have any digital skills? What people do you want to help or products you want to sell? What excites you?

I guess the only business that needs 40k as investment is a daycare center, but you would need to pick a good location

This is the stupidest post I've come across on reddit so far. It's either AI generated or the author of the post is 15 years old

Think about your daughter future more than the lifestyle. There are people praying for the opportunity to leave and provide a better life and future for their family. If you want to help your community it’s commendable and there are other ways to do it than potentially jeopardizing your daughter future

When you see that 45% of your salary is leaving to taxes, getting an MRI in the public sector takes a year (no exaggeration), when you see daycare costs 40$ a day and when you see how slow the educational system is. It makes you wonder if you're really in the right place.

Those taxes go towards free health care. OAS , and for a Canadian pension plan. They don't just disappear.
There's a federal system of 10 dollars a day and if it's not the. There is a subsidy of 50% that's until your child gets a place for 10$ a day.
And ofcourse there's also the provincial and federal money you get for you child.
Not sure what you mean by the education system is slow , so won't even go there.
So ya, you are getting something for your 45%.
You want to move to Lebanon thats great , but to say it's because of taxes , while you know how much social benefits you're getting is misleading

I’m in Canada. Over 50% of my salary goes to taxes. My daycare is 65$ a day per kid. But also my parents in old age are taken care of and their medication, my kids medicinal needs are taken care of and their education when they get older…is it perfect? No. Do I work like a dog? Yes …but I put my head in a pillow comfortably at night

The worst decision you will take. Every calculation you did multiple it by 2 due to unexpected things will happen

So you want to move and open a business in one of the highest risk areas in Lebanon (except the south) Good for you, very smart, do it. You have 50k to invest and planning to earn 5k after expenses? Your business will need to make 10k at least. You have no skills, wife without significant experience, you work in a car dealership so good luck getting hired with that experience if everything goes to sh*t. I don't think this is a smart move. But please do it, I could use one less person to pay taxes for in Canada

Curious what business idea would generate 10% of your initial investment per month (no matter the location). Sounds too good to be true
