Looks like we got a new Death Valley in town. Either ABC7 is fake news or we about to roast.

Called the police after seeing my local arsonist light his fire and run away. Police never came and LAFD showed up 20 minutes later. A couple of good samaritans helped put it out before it climbed up the 10 and lit a nearby house on fire.
Called the non-emergency hotline afterwards to tell them where this guy lives and they said there is nothing they can do if the arsonist "is not on the scene". I said "Who lights a fire and stays on the scene?" They copped up an attitude and reiterated that if he does it again, to call. Wtf is going on, LA?!
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this differently ?!

She has a high fever and we just found out that he’s a SHE!! Almost 7 months old and very friendly… She’s so affectionate and hasn’t attacked anyone since we found her. She’s honestly the best cat I’ve ever came in contact with tbh. I wish I could keep her.
I will make sure you go to the vet and take care of everything..I won’t be giving her to just anybody so please be aware of that before messaging me.

This gave me a nostalgic, tender feeling.
Lately I've gotten used to crimson sunsets and constant 80+ degree days. But seeing this warm glow under a cover of clouds made me feel like the seasons are finally (maybe) transitioning to something different.
And for some reason, it reminded me of summer road trips I'd take as a kid. I'd endure the long stretches of road going to some faraway place my parents dragged me to. I'd count down literal minutes in the back of the minivan while thinking about my crush, like I was in a trench with a weathered photo in my helmet.
But looking back, I realize those were some of the only days I had no worries and no desires to chase after.

I over slept and thought I had missed out again but arrived close to noon and got mine, they still have cards and the line was not long at all.
Check the website because they will be updating at each location’s page if they ran out, they won’t update over the phone.

The monthly report from LINXS can be found here.
There are reportedly at least 3 “blast instances” along the length of the track, and there is structural damage to the rails and electronics in these areas. Given the scorching, it also appears there was fires of some kind.
This is nothing short of criminal negligence and weaponized incompetence from every single person and contractor working under LINXS and LAWA.
LINXS should have found these issues months if not years ago, but since they’ve been more busy trying to extort the people of Los Angeles for billions of dollars to pad their pockets and running skeleton crew operations working on the train.

Okay LA, I need to put you onto something.
Jessie Ware is bringing her Superbloom Tour to the Greek Theatre on Tuesday, October 20th, and if you're not familiar with her music, consider this your official invitation.
If you love Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Studio 54, disco, house music, incredible live vocals, and unapologetically fabulous energy, Jessie Ware NEEDS to be on your radar.
Her last few albums have been a love letter to dance music, blending disco, funk, soul, and electronic sounds into something that feels both nostalgic and incredibly fresh.
And the woman can SING.
What makes Jessie special is that she's creating the kind of music that brings people together. It's joyful, sexy, theatrical, queer-friendly, and genuinely FUN. In a world where so much pop music feels manufactured, her music feels like an invitation to let loose and celebrate being alive.
If you're new to Jessie, start with these songs:
- "Free Yourself" — an absolute disco anthem.
- "Spotlight" — pure late-night dance floor magic.
- "What's Your Pleasure?" — sophisticated, sexy disco perfection.
- "Begin Again" — a euphoric masterpiece.
- "I Could Get Used to This" — a taste of her Superbloom era.
She's already a huge favorite among dance music lovers and the LGBTQ+ community, but I genuinely believe she deserves a much bigger audience here in the States.
And that's why I'm posting. Artists who make this kind of music deserve our support. Buying a ticket, bringing a friend, or even just checking out her music makes a difference.
Imagine dancing under the stars at the Greek Theatre with thousands of people celebrating life, music, and each other. That's the kind of night I'm hoping for.
📍 Greek Theatre, Los Angeles
📅 Tuesday, October 20, 2026
🕗 8:00 PM
🎟️ Tickets: https://www.ticketmaster.com/search?q=Jessie+Ware
I'm going, and I'd love to see LA show up for her!
Anyone else going? And if you've never listened to Jessie Ware, give "Free Yourself" a spin and tell me you don't immediately want to dance. 🪩

Anyone know what it was for? I was on the 405 today from around 5-6 and was kicked out the carpool lane by a bunch of cops on motorcycles and some red and yellow buses labelled la brea tours. Anyone know who was in them? just wondering because they made me merge into oncoming traffic from double yellow carpool -_-
EDIT: I don't watch sports so I never thought to guess that. Thanks guys! Also It wasn't oncoming traffic, but the lane next to me. I used the incorrect term. The lane next to me was going so much faster than us in carpool, and the cop blasted his sirens for me to get out when no one was safely letting me out (thanks tailgaters).

I'm visiting from Australia with my three year old. We took the 460 to and from Disneyland yesterday rather than the train as I like riding different cities public transport. It was also the only way back late leaving the park after 11pm given we don't have a child seat to take a rideshare. While I didn't mind it on the way there, it was tough on the way back due to one bus not turning up making the wait nearly an hour. Think I'll take the train next time 😂

Election text spam has become hilariously useless. There’s so much of it that virtually none of it gets read. I delete them unopened by the dozen.
If you’re a candidate or on a referendum campaign team: your money is better spent elsewhere. Right now you’re just adding to the noise.

Last week, I had to take two buses and a train to get to DTLA because my car was in the shop getting its starter replaced.
I used to take the train daily as part of my commute, and I had forgotten just how much I actually preferred it over driving.
I
A few things I enjoyed about the experience:
Getting some extra steps in while walking to the bus stop and just being outdoors in general.
People-watching on the bus while not having to worry about traffic or getting into a car accident.
More people-watching while waiting for the train.
The cost: Just $3.50 round trip from Downey to DTLA.
You can also live track the buses now using your phone.
And yes, of course you’ll encounter the occasional crackhead or someone having a conversation with people who aren’t there, but that’s all part of the entertainment.
At one point, a homeless guy got on the bus and started singing whatever songs passengers requested. Naturally, I requested “Hit the Road Jack.”
