[Highlight] October 17, 2025: Shohei Ohtani hits 3 homers and records 10 Ks in 6.0+ scoreless innings pitched in Game 4 of the NLCS for arguably the greatest postseason performance in baseball history.

I know a lot of folks are talking about the team throwing the NLCS to avoid the lockout. I just can’t get behind that. Brew Crew are too strong and the guys wanted it too bad.

I can’t help but think about how our WBC guys had injuries and rougher than average years.

I’m thinking of Shohei in particular.

I also know Judge and Skenes both had bad years. Skenes specifically talked about the harm of being the WBC on his health.

I know some guys like Schwarber and Witt have been fine. Are there other guys? Am I crazy?

Also, I know how much this reeks of cope…and it is.

I saw Shohei.

What are the chances that Ohtani himself comes into my work, the day right after the Dodgers get eliminated. My co-workers were going nuts, and customers even had to stop and do a double-take to realize that it was him.

All I can say is, he seems like a very nice guy. Along with his wife Mamiko, whom he was with. There was a very brief moment where we made eye contact and he greeted me with a head nod and I just said, “You’re the man, Shohei.” To which he replied, “Thank you.” Then went about his business. That little engagement was so awesome. We lost but at least he gave us that homer yesterday to cheer for. I wish him another great year next season when he’s 100% healthy. Go Dodgers!

This year's exit does not feel as bad as 2023.

Yes, it sucks that our team is out. And yeah, our bats were cold as heck, but, this was a team being held together by tape, and we still have the last 2 years of amazing, amazing memories. Heck, theres even memories from this year. Shohei's homer was nice, if too little, too late.

2022, and especially 2023 felt soo bad to watch. The teams were so dominant those years, it felt like they'd finally win a full-year championship in my life time. Watching the playoffs those years, they felt like they were the team that should win, because of how good they were in the regular season. And then, they'd fizzle.

Watching Lance Lynn's meatballpalooza in 2023 felt like probably lowest point as a Dodger fan. To lose like that against the lowly DBacks? Terrible. I'm so grateful that they won in 24 and 25, and that they still had to fight for those! What a team, I'm sure the future will still be bright. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

meh…I’m not mad,

I’m not mad, just a little bummed. I’ve been a fan for 50 years, they’ve been my team since I discovered this great game as a kid, my mom was a Yankees fan, after she passed away, I waved that flag for her during the Jeter years. Like all of you, I hoped for 3 straight, even though I knew my Dodgers are a little older and maybe we shouldn’t have played in the WBC (?), but it is what it is. Our Dodgers are still the measuring stick for all of baseball and we still own the NL West. I live in Kansas, so I don’t get to see them In person unless they visit the Royals and come to Denver, and, boy do we represent! We got 3 ‘Ships in 6 years!! 🤪 I’ve been lucky enough to see 5 of 9 titles so far. So, it’s ok, we’ll be back next year! I hope everybody has a wonderful offseason and I’ll see you around! Thanks for reading!

Just vibes.

I hope he gets to be with the Dodgers long term.

Met him last year at a signing. Such a nice dude. Seemed so down to earth.

I know his teammates like him.

He was vibes all game yesterday.

From making his MLB debut as a Dodger in 2014 to finishing his career as a Dodger (despite playing at Miami in between) Thank you for everything (especially kershaw's 2014 no hitter game and the season-saving play last year), Miggy. Once a Dodger, Always a Dodger

Random thoughts about the players we will have on our roster entering next season.

- I don’t think Mookie is a top of the order bat anymore and he should move to 2nd to save body.
- Yamamoto, Ohtani, Snell, Glasnow, Sasaki, Sheehan, Wrobleski is a good enough rotation to win division…however
- Glasnow has not met the expectations when we traded for him. He is not a dependable top end starter in playoffs and can’t stay healthy.
- Snell can’t stay healthy for a full season.
- the further development of Sasaki as a front line starter is crucial to Dodgers success next season.
- If Teoscar can be moved the team should make JDP the full time LF despite the fielding worries.
- Diaz should return to form next season. His good year followed by bad year stats are hilariously accurate.
- Tanner Scott needs a third pitch. He should be used as a lefty specialist. I can’t watch when he pitches.
- All the talk about Yamamoto possibly being the greatest postseason pitcher before his start against the Brewers made the baseball gods angry, so of course he had a terrible outing.
- Pages is a FA in 2030. Where does that put Sirota, who is also a +defender in CF, but can also hit RHP. Pages numbers not great.
- Freeland/Kim are not usable players at SS.
- Jake Bauers is a free agent at the end of the season. His one chance at a big contract, Brewers probably don’t resign him. I’m coping.
- The dynasty is not over.

Shoutout to Andy Pages for turning it around this postseason! I hope to see continued improvement from him next season.

Pages led the 2026 team in postseason RBI’s. Seeing the dugout go nuts after his breakthrough RBI in the NLDS was one of the high points of this postseason. I know a lot of fans soured on his bat after his 2025 performance and there is more to be desired still, but he put in the work to contribute in 2026. He kept us in it, and I think he will be better next postseason. I am grateful we have Andy Pages.

Don’t buy the empty seats narrative, Dodgers still sold 49k tickets in an elimination game, more than any other ballpark could fit.

I like the Dodgers’ hitting strategy of relying on home runs. It won them back to back titles (along with great pitching)

In this run from 2024 to now, the home run ball has been the difference in nearly every series.

2024 DS vs Padres:

  • Game 1, Shohei hits a 3 run homer off Cease to pick the team off the floor and tie the game. Huge momentum shift.
  • Game 4, Mookie homers off of Cease to start the scoring in what was an elimination game.
  • Game 5, the Hernandez brothers score the Dodgers’ only two runs with solo homers off of a very good Yu Darvish.

2024 NLCS vs Mets:

  • Dodgers banged the ball all around the yard in this series. Nearly too many homers to go through. But in the game 6, the series clincher, Edman hits a 2 run homer off of Manea to put them up 4-0.

2024 WS vs Yankees:

  • Game 1, Freddie. Although even a single would have likely won the game or at least tied it. Side note, their first two runs both came via sac fly. So maybe this game isn‘t good evidence of the premise.
  • Game 2, Edman, Teo, and Freddie homer, resulting in all of the Dodgers’ runs as they win 4 to 2.
  • Game 3, Freddie hits a two run homer, Dodgers win 4 to 2.

2025 WC vs Reds:

  • Shohei and Teo each had two homers. Reds were a bad team, no need to discuss that series.

2025 DS vs Phillies:

  • Game 1, Teo hits a 3 run homer late in the game to put the team up 5 to 3. They steal that game.

2025 CS vs Brewers:

  • Game 1, Freddie homers late in the game, they win 2 to 1.
  • Game 2, Teo and Muncy both homer, they win 5 to 1.
  • Game 4, Shohei’s greatest game. 3 home runs.

2025 WS vs Blue Jays

  • Game 2, Will Smith and Muncy homer late in the game to get Gausman out of the game, and take the lead after trailing heading into the 7th.
  • Game 3, Shohei homers twice, including a 7th inning shot that ties the game. Freddie walks it off again.
  • Game 7, Muncy, Miggy, and Smith with the late game heroics. They’re back to back champs

2026 DS vs Braves

  • Game 1, homers from Teo, Tucker, and Muncy prove to be the difference. They win 5 to 3.
  • Game 3, Kike and Freddie score the Dodgers’ only runs with their homers as they beat Chris Sale.

The Dodgers won the majority of these series by out homering their opponent.

And when a team out homered them, they lost those games. The Blue Jays won three games in the WS by out homering the Dodgers. The Brewers out homered the Dodgers in all four games of this year’s CS.

So what’s a better hitting strategy in the postseason than hitting home runs? Please provide some evidence for the counter argument.

So I’ve been watching old games lately to get my Skully fix and came across this gem. Just about anything that can happen in a game happened in this one. For starters, there was an inside the park HR, a bunt double, a run scoring double tag up double play, hard collisions at home, first and and second base, a wild pitch un-assisted put out at home and some absolutely hilarious commentary from Statler and Waldorf (the two old men from the muppets) from the booth/balcony.
If you got some time and want to laugh a bit give this one a spin, you wont regret it.

We will be back next spring barring a lockout happening.
