"Don't worry my wife, I didn't cry when marrying you, but I still love you too. I just love this card much more."

Yeah and the graphics card isn't cheap either!

7

u/tsagalbill 9h ago

And very expensive too

6

u/jatin_hehe 9h ago

And hard to get nowadays

5

u/drittzO 9h ago

And you might cry

2

u/si_de 9h ago

And get hard

6

u/Daiesthai 9h ago

And very expensive too.

0

u/MacSchluffen 9h ago

Heard they aren’t easy to get as well.

16

u/ChaoticDumpling 10h ago

Probably cost more than the whole damn wedding 😅

1

u/razorbacks3129 9h ago

Dawg that wedding cost no less than 150k, maybe even 250k. Look at those flowers. I should know, I just paid for my wedding in January, and it was almost 100k

3

u/nostickystuff 8h ago

I can't imagine putting that kind of money into a wedding. My wife and I spent almost 1k, and multiple people told us that it was one of the best weddings they've ever been to.

4

u/Not_PepeSilvia 8h ago

Free venue, no food and no drinks?

5

u/razorbacks3129 8h ago

How the fuck you spend 1,000 on a wedding? The microphone system alone was like $600 for the hardware and technician

1

u/MYOB3 8h ago

You have a husband in the business... LOL!
My husband was a DJ when we got married. His boss did our wedding for free.
His wife was a florist. She did our flowers at cost.

3

u/pajo8 8h ago

Never heard of the hierarchy of djs. Boss DJ sounds pretty cool! Always thought they all were freelancers.

1

u/MYOB3 4h ago

Many radio station DJ's have their own side businesses doing events. My husband's boss at the radio station (where he worked) was a super nice guy, and gave us the music at our reception as a wedding gift!

So much of that is unnecessary. There's a few things I didn't include in my $1,000 claim. Didn't think about my suit or her dress, but those were still under $300. Could probably still claim that we spent almost $1500-$2000 of I include everything on that list.

Any dress can be a wedding dress if you wear it to a wedding. My wife bought a basic dress and sowed stuff on it. A veil is just a piece of fabric, no need for it to be over $400. People loved it.

We just asked our friends to provide alcohol. Just bring a bottle of your favorite spirit or a pack of your beer. We did not have a gift registry. Overall, they probably saved money.

We prepared almost all the food. We did save a few hundred dollars on the pig. Looks like going price is around $300-$400. So without the luck, add that to my claim.

We knew someone with a nice camera. Photo editing isn't all that hard.

Invitations are more personal when they're hand written.

My suit was the most expensive thing, coming in at around $150. I don't know that I included that in the $1000, so I'll conceed that it probably would have pushed us over the $1000.

A Spotify Playlist on a nice speaker goes a long way. I almost guarantee you probably know someone with a nice speaker. You probably also know somebody with great music taste that would jump at a chance to control that Playlist.

So many people give away old wedding materials online. So most of our table decorations were free. We also picked a lot of local flowers and moss. Made it look magical.

If you don't tell companies your buying your cake for a wedding, the price magically drops. So just get a big, undecorated cake and add stuff to it yourself if you want. Or don't, it's about to get destroyed anyway.

What is an event designer?

u/Turbulent-Maybe-1040 8h ago

Why do you care how they spent money on their wedding? And the whole point of their original comment was an estimate on the cost of the wedding in the video by relating it to their own wedding and providing the cost.

They may be wrong, you can only gather so much from such a short clip but they were guessing what the price of the wedding would be.

Why argue with them about the costs around their wedding when they're happy with their wedding and they have already spent the money?

A stranger spending money on their own wedding has literally no baring on your life

3

u/razorbacks3129 7h ago

Honestly it’s fine, I’d expect to be questioned over that amount. But I had the means to do it and I wouldn’t change a thing. I will be with my wife til we grow old and we will always look back at that day with such amazement and happiness

1

u/nostickystuff 2h ago

I'm glad to hear you don't have remorse for the purchase. Happy you were able to turn worthless money into a meaningful experience. I bet it was beautiful.

2

u/nostickystuff 2h ago

I don't care how much they spent and I'm not arguing with them. I said I couldn't imagine putting that much in and shared what I spent. Someone asked how I spent that little, and I used the spreadsheet to explain. Sounds like they are happy with there purchase, which is more than enough justification to spend the money. Money is imaginary, the experience they had is real wealth they turned that money into.

3

u/razorbacks3129 7h ago

that is very resourceful and impressive, even if you spent 5k all in, that is still quite the feat for a large event. I had the money to do it and wouldn’t have changed a thing about mine. Ended up buying a house 7 months after our wedding as well and now we are pregnant. If I would’ve had to make sacrifices for it, I wouldn’t have done it that way

The event designer was someone the company that provided tables, drapery behind our table, flower installations that were more technical/engineering, as well as a lot of other rentals, like chargers, dining ware, etc. they also staged the entire reception

2

u/Turbulent-Maybe-1040 8h ago

Congratulations on your nuptials. I hope you and your spouse are very happy. I don't know if I'll ever be in a position to spend that much money on a wedding but I've always dreamed of an extravagant wedding

3

u/razorbacks3129 8h ago

We have watched our videos no less than 50 times since January.. both the 3 min highlight movie and the full ceremony movie

1

u/nenulenu 8h ago

It’s a joke, Homey.

1

u/AcademicMistake 7h ago

Did you tell them these things were for a wedding? Saying wedding always jacks up the price......

1

u/razorbacks3129 3h ago

I mean the vendors had to set them up so ya they know it’s for a wedding

45

To be brought to tears over a GPU. Pathetic.

Just downvote me and move on with your lives. This is nothing to smile about. It’s sad and pathetic.

6

u/ParasolWhiskey 8h ago

“It’s sad and pathetic” seems more sad and pathetic to try and dictate what is and isn’t smile worthy like a cliquey highschooler.

You don’t know the guy’s life story, his circumstances. He could’ve been more prone to being emotional that day because it’s his literal fucking wedding, already a very happy and emotional event for him, when his wife makes it even better by gifting him something expensive for his hobby, cause she loves and cares for him and supports him

0

u/BigBlackdaddy65 7h ago

Why do you even care lmao

1

u/ParasolWhiskey 4h ago

Why do you or the guy I’m replying to care, hm? Why do you need to go into a subreddit focused on positivity, and shit over people, whose lives you’ve only seen a glimpse into, enjoying themselves? No one’s making you have to go and cry over gpus at your wedding, it’s not contagious

1

u/Crispy_p_bacon 8h ago

The modern gaming ham man

1

u/Quitlimp05 8h ago

TBF in Chinese culture, the cost of wedding is bore by the groom's family; and that includes the bride price (though for modern middle to high income families now that is mostly meant as a symbolic token), tips, door games etc. The bride's family is not expected to pay for anything. So for the bride to actually gift the groom something that in today's pricing amount to almost selling a kidney in black market prices yet still meant a lot for the groom, that is truly unexpected.

1

u/251Cane 7h ago

Ah yes, the Chinese tradition of giving the groom a present during the ceremony while putting a mic in front of him.

1

u/Andrew225 7h ago

... yeah I'm a PC gamer and I kinda agree with you bud.

It's a nice gift. It's thoughtful. But the kinda dude who cries over a 5090 is the kind of dude who obsessed over chasing FPS even though he's already sunk so much money into his system that he likely won't notice any difference.

Like holy hell no one needs a $9000 GPU..you just don't. The quality improvement is fucking nothing

0

u/ZMrosegolden 8h ago

Bro these are expensive if i got this, or any pc with good graphics as a gift id cry too

0

u/DivineMango- 7h ago

I think you judging people is pathetic

I swear to god of I see this same video again for the millionth time

1

u/rswings 8h ago edited 7h ago

Maybe people are a little jaded. There’s some truth to that. But it is an odd thing to see at a wedding. He’s crying because he’ll have a more immersive video game experience. I mean, I play video games too. But this seems over the top.
The other thought is that he’s just emotional to begin with. So it could just be that.

1

u/AcademicMistake 7h ago

Pretty pathetic really, he will install it and now need a new cpu and more ram just so the cpu isnt the bottleneck.

1

u/brn1001 7h ago

Scrolled past this shallow and materialistic video across several posts yesterday. Please stop already.

1

u/monkey_zen 6h ago

u/twisted-logic 8h ago

God forbid a man has hobbies and is touched by a loved one acknowledging it with an incredible gift for it.

This site is so miserable

-2

u/Critical_Mix_8959 9h ago

That’s not a man, that’s a child

2

u/Imlardirion 9h ago

Ah sorry didnt know that a man isnt allowed to show emotions for a hobby that he loves, or having fun.

-2

u/Critical_Mix_8959 9h ago

This would be like my wife gifting me a Rolex on our wedding day and me parading it around infront of friends a family at my wedding. No different to a 5 year old on his birthday making his friends sit around him as he opens presents. It’s childish behaviour.

-1

u/Imlardirion 9h ago

Your poor friends. If they would do that, you would be willing to tell them the same and ruin their day? Sadge..

-1

u/Critical_Mix_8959 9h ago

If they were grown ass adults, absolutely.

0

u/Imlardirion 8h ago

What harm does it to you or anybody if this individual person is showing emotions? Its not as if the person is hurting anybody or crosses anyones boundaries. I cant tell you what you should do, but I would still recommend that you reflect on your form of thinking. Why pushing negativity on something positive, instead of taking that positive energy and enjoying it yourself and hence be happy yourself and others too.

-2

u/itakeyoureggs 9h ago

Ai and work.. not just a hobby

3

u/guydogg 9h ago

Completely normal to be crying at your wedding over a video card for AI and work. Completely.

0

u/N0meFake 9h ago

Funny how many people there didn't even know what it was lol

I expected more aplaude

-1

u/razorbacks3129 9h ago

This is weird, has to be AI

-1

u/Fun_Avocado1199 9h ago

Bro got the ultimate wedding gift, forget the honeymoon, that RTX 5090 is the real love of his life.

1

u/li_shi 9h ago

Probably more expensive too…

Yes. AI made prices go through the roof for these items (they also make ai calculate fast). And this man does not have his priorities straight.
