My dog and I actually do this to each other. He'll take my seat, and his whole body wiggles with excitement when I notice. Then he jumps to his side of the couch. Sometimes I'll sit in his seat, and he'll "lure" me away with his toys before jumping into his spot.
My dogs would do this to each other. If they'd be eating a treat or a bone or so and the other finishes first but wanted the bone from the other, she jump up and run to the front door barking to lure the other dog away. And then quickly run back to get the bone. They are really really smart.
Whilst also being really really stupid. Ours is super smart but then something just clicks in him and he channels his inner scooby doo. “Ruh-roh, I’m a dog. Ooo squirrel 😀”
