Question Little me Lamb want to ask you something about whatpeople around me thought of MC when I was little

This post is more of a little rant from little me.

Hi Lambs, when I was little (90s and 2000s) I was the only one liking Mariah Carey and around me. I heard kind of mean things from others..

My older cousin liked her, she actually brought 90s cassette and CDs from New York (that's how I got my hands on MC music, nobody knew of her around me). Only in 2001 a few of my schoolmates were really nice about my love for MC (some gave me Glitter for my birthday, and another one asked me to lend her Butterfly, she even gave me a little present as a thank you, a bracelet).

But I remember others saying things I didn't really like:

- my kind-of-same age female cousins and some other would describe MC as vain + they have this prejudice that girly girls are stupid, while "modest" (???) girls are intelligent (???) (we were watching Mariah singing live on MTV Heartbreaker remix in 1999!!)

- my brothers turn the name "Mariah" into a slur to mean something like embarrassing loser, actually one of their friends (the dumbest one) told me they were using it to say "you are the worst" (???), though I think this is maybe directed to me

- the school idiot was harassing me about her boobs (he was probably starving since birth. He might still be starving)

- my aunt's (nasty human being) first comment was about Mariah Carey being biracial (in Italy, no one gave a damn about races, she pointed this out because her life is pointing out anything that would make another woman seen as "lesser" than other women/my aunt)

ETC.

Little me was all the time thinking: "Her music is amazing, are they deaf? Why aren't they just talking about her music??"

When Loverboy came out, I hoped my mother didn't see it otherwise she might have told me not to watch "slutty" stuff.

It's just a rant from little me, I'm in my 30s, I just wanted to give voice to her. If you want to comment, can you comment as if you were talking to a 10-13 years old Lamb? I needed that at that time, Mariah has always been the anchor to my soul 💕.

Thank you 💕

Discussion People don’t talk about how Mariah is the visual blue print for all the girlies today

I was watching Tate McRae’s new video but the honey blonde blowout the tan skin, the capri pants the summering in Capri

It’s all giving classic Mariah

Every hyper feminine pop girl since Mariah has been riffing on an established Mariah Carey visual identity since 1997
