So basically, in August, I went to Markville Mall after a one month vacation. And I found that the KFC was not there, it was just a blank white wall. And when I checked the status, according to Google, it is listed as "Temporarily closed". So my guess is that they are either doing renovations OR it's permanently closed.

At around 3 p.m. today, a car horn or alarm started going off and has been beeping continuously. I’ve had to close my windows because I can hear it all the way from Raymerville Drive. I’m not exactly sure where the car is located, but I believe it may be somewhere near Rouge River Bar. It’s extremely loud and annoying. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Today, I had a really weird interaction. I (late 20s female) got in my car to leave the mall. I was near the parking lot outside the Shoppers Drug Mart/Kinton Ramen area.
From a couple rows forward (closer to the Best Buy), this woman walked up to me in my car to the driver’s side window. She seemed mid-30s to 40s, had her dark/grey hair in a bun, wore glasses, and a pink long sweater/hoodie. She didn’t seem to speak much English and had an accent (possibly Eastern European or Middle Eastern)*.
I rolled down my window a bit to ask if there was a problem and didn’t get out of the car as alarm bells were going off in my head. She said something like, “Oh, I can’t say. Would you mind coming with me to somewhere else?”
I immediately said no, that I had to get home and drove off. She just kept walking down the other rows of the parking lot.
Red flags were ABOUND.
Just leaving this here so other people can know to watch out for this! Stay safe.
ETA: possibly Middle Eastern/Eastern European *
ETA 2: I reported this to the YRP non-emergency line!

Over the last month, this cutie has visited our yard for his afternoon naps about 5 times - absolute highlights of our days everytime he drops by!

Kennedy/ highway 7, new electronic signs… Displays “ drive safe”. Changes to “ No right turn on red “ for a very short period, only when pedestrian sign is lite. But, then turns back to “ drive safe “ while pedestrians are crossing….
So , can we now turn right on a red ?

I am pregnant and looking for a safe family friendly restaurant.
Is the BP on Markham Rd overall pretty good? Is it clean and serves fresh food? I don’t want to risk getting food poisoning.

Who’s running for mayor? Which councillors are facing challengers? And which wards are guaranteed new representation?
We put together a special Hello Markham Election Issue covering the candidates, the key races, and what’s at stake.
Online voting starts tomorrow, October 16.
Whether you’re happy with City Hall or ready for a change, take a few minutes to see who’s on your ballot.
Read the free election issue:

Full disclosure: I’m involved with Hello Markham. The issue also contains clearly labelled sponsored candidate content.

Just looking to join any acting classes/workshops that don’t cost a fortune. Looking for community within theatre/film in Markham. I’m just doing this for fun and to meet new people. Not trying to make a career of it. Any suggestions are welcome. I live close to Markville/Pacific Mall areas.

Hi Everyone, looks like the fall colors have started hitting the streets of Markham! What are some nice parks in and around Markham for a quick photoshoot?
My partner and I were thinking of some place in the rouge park but we aren't sure which entry or trail leads to the best spots. Any suggestions in rouge or elsewhere?

We were waiting for parking spot and this guy just hit and run fleeing the scene, scratching up my car. Even Tesla has a bunch of cameras on it it is still pretty hard to get the license plate, can anyone help identify this vehicle’s plate even better if you have the dashcam video. Thanks a lot ahead of time.
Edit:
Seen some discussion on why not chasing the car and here is why, a bit difficult as mentioned we were at a parking lot and the camera angle here is not the front camera it is actually the side camera facing back, since a 3-point turn is not feasible in that situation and lunch hour FMP is very busy, we cannot immediately move the car and I think reversing the car is a bit dangerous. I think the best course of action I can is get out and try to get their plate but I do suspect they notice the hit and just speed up to get away.

My family uses City swimming and skating programs quite a bit, and one thing I always found frustrating was having to check multiple pages just to see what drop-in options were available.
So I put together a simple free tool for my own use that brings them together in one place:
We've been using it ourselves for a while, and I figured some other Markham residents might find it useful too.
Have a good day!

UPDATE: Owners found!! Kitty is on his way back to his rightful home :)
We found this white cat wandering around Fincham and Larkin. Almost got hit by a couple cars. She's hanging out in our garage at the moment, but noticed she kinda pants and her meows are a little wheezy, so not sure if she has asthma.
