Funny, I'm the exact opposite. The base PED suit is fine, but kinda plain. The more corruption it accrues, the more interesting it gets. Although from a purely aesthetic sense, I think I like the second to last version the best.
I can see the argument for this, although the artstyle for Zero Mission is actually really awesome in general, Samus looked so badass in the official art
the heavily-shaded concept art for this game is so distinct and i will always mourn that Return of Samus and Super didn’t get the Zero Mission treatment
I love the Gravity Suit with blue. I know the green lights are more iconic so that's why they sometimes use them, but the blue and purple looks so good.
This, exactly. I haven't even played this game, but it's easily one of my favorite designs. It's extremely well balanced and proportioned while having the big ass prime pauldrons
I hadn’t seen this before and god is this such a cool depiction of power armor. I love how it looks more like an actual vehicle you’re piloting with your movements than just something making your movements stronger
Prime 4 ViOLa suit is super underrated a long with the rest of the art direction of that game. Designed like a super car, personally love how the back thrusters tuck in to make her more sleek while driving. Idk if it’s my favorite but it’s worth a mention in this thread imo
I just finished the game today and it really wasn’t bad. If you didn’t know to go for the green crystals then yeah it would be annoying to have to go around just farming them. But if you smash some whenever you’re in the desert then it’s not that bad.
PRIME 2/3 VARIA IS THE BEST VARIA. it was honestly heartbreaking the changes they made to the varia on prime 4, a very “if it aint broke dont fix it” type situation for me.
Dread power suit, easy. The classic orange and yellow is iconic for sure, but the blue and white is so clean and feels so natural despite not being something she wore previously. I love the sinewy muscle detail that shows the suit is a living thing, and it has just the right amount of mecahnical surface greebling to keep it from looking too plain (ravenous kinda failed that last part imo, it looks way too smooth)
Yeah the classic Prime Varia suit is my favorite. I see the merit in slimming down and changing shapes like with Dread, but god I hated Other M giving zero textures to the shoulders. Just doesn’t work, needs SOMETHING
This gravity suit is just…perfection. I’m actually not a fan of the other M/smash 4 styled skinnier armor look and prefer the Metroid 2 super Metroid and melee/brawl looks, honestly brawl might be my favorite default-ish suit.
So, I hate the way the gravity suit looks in every game.
Then Dread came along. The gravity suit in Dread is probably my favorite suit in the series so far. And I think it's mostly because of the white secondary color. I think I saw that the yellow color is back for the Varia suit in Ravenous, which I'm perfectly fine with, but I hope they keep the purple + white combo for the gravity suit because it just looks so much better.

I looove the combo of the purple with the red, white, and green accents. It goes so hard and I hope the look comes back in Ravenous, at least in a similar way
The DREAD suit is also my favorite, probably tied with the fusion suit. While the classic Super Metroid suit is still great, I feel like DREAD’s suit is more personally “Samus” while the classic suit is Chozo armor that Samus happens to wear. (Idk If that even makes sense to anyone else…)
Dread and Prime.
Prime I love cause I love prime, and it's pretty iconic to me, despite the enormous shoulders and WICKED knee spikes.
Dread I love because it's design is much more proportional and it's colours are brilliant. The boost look like actual, armoured, gravity/energy boots, the legs, and body look form fitting, but still like actual plated armour, and the upper bodys armour is recognizable, but now makes sense proportionally. It highlights why I don't like the Ravenous suit. It doesn't look like it's an armoured suit now, it looks like it's a bodysuit.
This suit used to be the fusion suit that absorbed the Sa-X nucleus. I guess the visor came from Prime 4 but the Sa-X was a copy of Super Metroid Samus with other M being the only Mission in between.
I’m right there with you, I love the way the base Dread suit incorporates elements from previous designs with the white panels tying it to the EMMI units. I’m so happy I managed to find the figma, it’s one of my favorites in my collection and it poses so damn well.
these days Dread Gravity suit takes the cake for me. purple is my favorite color so all of the Gravity Suits get extra points from me, but as a kid the Zero Mission sprite for that suit was delicious. the Phazon and Light suits are also highly underrated. all of the suits in Prime 4, despite the poor quality of that game, are really nice too, at least
Aside from her classic super Metroid suit, I gotta give it to the light suit or legacy suit from prime 4. I know the game was a disappointment but that suit doesn't get enough love
Big fan of the SR varia suit. I've always liked the silver metallic. vents? I think? on the shoulders. Too bad the in-game model doesn't really do it justice.
N-Chao's Varia Color Scheme for Gravity Suit, Takes the palette of the classic samus suits and applies onto the Dread's suit, mixing both the sleek and organic design with those colors we're so used to, the mod is on gamebanana and I play it with this mod on every time I can
Honestly, my favorite Varia suit design I have seen isn't even official. Motoginji made his own Suit for his Animation Halo: Pact of Predators. It's a blend of Dread and prime and Fusion. (As he said.)
