Discussion It seems clear to me that Metroid Ravenous is the end of a trilogy that started with Fusion back in 2002.

I've seen some people talk about Ravenous as the second game in the MercurySteam trilogy, but I believe that MercurySteam always wanted to follow on from Fusion to complete the story being told there(which is supported by the fact that they actually pitched a Metroid Fusion remake originally, and then their Metroid 2 remake heavily connected it back to Fusion).

1-3 is the "Hunter", "Orange Suit" or "Metroid" trilogy.

4-6 is the "Hunted" or "Blue Suit" or (possibly) "X Parasite" trilogy.

In the first trilogy, Samus is the hunter. Her mission is to seek out and destroy Metroids and Space Pirates. She has her classic orange suit throughout, and it ends with the eradication of all Metroids, and the destruction of Zebes, where it all began. It tells a complete story.

In the second trilogy, Samus is on the back foot thanks to the X parasite. Her suit is nearly destroyed, it is now blue, and it is regrowing over the course of the trilogy.

The Metroid DNA saves her life, and it starts to change her. She's also being hunted by the SA-X, then the Emmi/Raven Beak, and now the Space Ninjas/remaining Mawkin Chozo.

I think Ravenous will see Samus reach her full potential, fully restoring her suit, and I cannot waaaaait.

Not really the end. Pay attention to his wording in every interview. He specifically says its the end to the „uncanny relationship between Samus and the Metroids“. And that that saga concludes.

Same guy also said in an interview to pay close attention to Dreads ending to know where the story will go

And he wasnt kidding ravenous has so many minute connections to Dreads ending, beyond the Metroif suit, that its insane. He really meant to play close attention.

Hanubia ships gone, 99 Energy Meter gone, Aeion gone and connected to the Metroid suit, and most importantly mystery mawkin with his double pointed spear

This would make more sense if Ravenous didn't follow so directly on from Dread's ending and plotlines?

I understand this was Sakamoto's intention 5 years ago, but surely what we've seen of Ravenous shows that this is no longer the case?

You have to ignore everything we know about Ravenous to believe that it's the beginning of a new saga.

I think it’s a new Saga of proper Metroid samus and that’s about it

She only really truly becomes this version at the end of dread when ravenbeak kills her (I’m going to assume they imply by the visor going dark that she is dead momentarily) so her Metroid side literally kicks into overdrive

I mean, Ravenous is still primarily focused on Samus’ relationship with the Metroids, now through being a Metroid herself, and typical series factions like the Chozo are still a prominent part of the story.

This is the truth. The whole 'two trilogies, ending with Ravenous' is wrong. First saga is the five 2D games.
