Users How to ban a user whose profile won’t load?

I know they exist because they’ve posted NSFW r34 art on my sub (for a kid’s show) FOUR TIMES & I get notifications for it, but everytime I try to ban them it says they don’t exist. My other moderator is having the same thing happen to them too

If I search “reddit u/______” online I can also see their account exists & pictures of these things they’ve posted on my sub..

I don’t think I’m blocked either because their profile still doesn’t load when I’m logged out of my account, please help I want my sub to be a safe place but I really don’t know how to deal with this

I’m on the ios mobile app

Answered How do I moderate a sub that was banned for being unmoderated?

I went to set up a sub for a niche topic, only to see the sub name was taken and it was banned for being unmoderated. I'm up for taking it on, how do I do this? I'm on desktop at the moment.

Answered Help removing inactive mod

I'm one of the mods for r/MNSwingers and the mod with full access has been in active for 3+ years. No other mod was given full permissions and now we can't edit the rules, update the auto-mod or make any sub wide changes.

Right now there are 3-4 active mods and they have agreed that I should take over the sub. What should I do?

I primarily access via Android but also access from a Windows laptop.

Answered General circle jerk advice needed 👀

I have a few communities which are occasionally reposted to the respective circle jerk community. I understand why these communities exist, but kind of feel bad seeing my members getting roasted like that.

Sometimes users from that community (0 sub karma in mine), intentionally or accidentally, leave comments on the original post instead of the reposted one. I do have a rules like Be courteous in your criticism which addresses most of their comments. I also set up automod to remove comments like, “See you in x circle jerk,” etc.

Would it be too much, or even worthwhile, to ban the users who are basically using the subreddit just to repost elsewhere? It’s not like it would prevent them from doing so in the future. I was trying to think of ways to minimize things, but I keep resigning my thoughts to C'est la vie, and letting the OPs deal with the results of making bad posts and/or post titles.

Sorry if I rambled too much.

Tools What are the best apps for removing bots and shill posters?

I added a couple of apps, including Bot Bouncer, but there are still users that I suspect are bots or shills. Which apps have worked best for you? I'm using a desktop computer and an Android phone to manage my sub.

Answered Incomeplete Subreddit/User Performance CSV

Hey guys, I hope this is the right sub for this, but I'm having trouble exporting data from my account. I'm trying to download a .csv with all the posts from the past year, but the downloaded file only contains 100 entries. I'm downloading it from:

https://www.reddit.com/user/_______/performance/

I need this data, because I want to make quarterly comparisons. How can I get the full historical data for the past year?

Couldn't find anything helpful on Google or Claude.

I'm on Desktop, and I'm trying to get the data for a subreddit I run.

Thanks!

General How am I meant to moderate popular comment sections when Reddit has updated my app to sort new comment sections by “live” only, with no options to sort the comments in any other way? This is incredibly frustrating.

See title. I am using an iPhone and an iPad. I only use the app. If I’m changing settings in a subreddit I log onto desktop, but for my usual moderating I use the app exclusively.

If anyone knows how I can turn off the “live” comments setting and go back to the usual sorting options, please let me know.

I did not sign up for the beta test. I do not know why I was opted into it anyway.

I typically schedule posts for theme ideas and I am no longer able to do so in one of my subs. Any ideas? I am not inactive, I am the primary mod. I am currently on Desktop, but I have also tried in the reddit app on my phone.

Tools [Desktop] Advanced search in modmail

I want to search for a modmail that includes two specific keywords, the first is "discord" and the other keyword will be my own discord

Desktop (I am forced to write "Desktop" here, for some reason the title is insufficient)

Will be better if the word "discord" is made by moderator #1 and my own discord is made by me, so a conversation where I don't say the word "discord" will work if moderator #1 asks what my discord is, and I immediately drop my discord username without specifying something like "My discord is XYZ"

Answered Mod application link is broke

Hello, I am using ios

I have created an application for recruitment as a mod for my subreddit but when I share the link to the application
Aka
https://www.reddit.com/r/
90dayBeforeThe90Days/application/
It takes the user to a broken page. One person did apply but I am not sure how others can apply if it’s a broken page?
Also seems like there is no recruitment banner showing on the page.
Thanks

General Help (not) moderating posts and comments

Desktop, Macos Tahoe, Vivaldi browser / ios, app

Hello. I have just started a private subreddit for my organization and it's my first time as a mod.

I'm having problems since all the new posts (including mine) and comments are going to the moderation queue and I don't want it! I want free posting and commenting, since this subreddit is private and with selected members (all people I know in person).

* safety filters are all OFF, "hold content for review": all off

I have already checked the setting in "post and comments" and all the toggles are unchecked.

What am I doing wrong?

Tools Do you allow the custom report option in your subreddits?

I have it enabled in some communities and not others. Usually it starts off as an option, but once I get too many reports that are basically anonymous mod mails or being generally abusive, the community loses that report option. Where are ya'll at on this report?

Thanks for all the input. I don’t think I really saw any examples that couldn’t also have been mod mail (rule confusion/applicability, additional info, humor), but people are definitely more in favor of the babbling it.

Tools Point me in the direction of your favorite mod guides!

Hey yall! I’ve modded lightly for a while now, and I’m eager to learn more about the advanced tools beyond those introduced in the mod bootcamp another or two ago. I primarily use an iPhone and a Mac.

- I haven’t yet read the automod guide, but I recall trying to figure out the automod and having a lot of issues actually getting it to show up and work. 😬 I’d super appreciate your best ELI5 guides!

- Where could I find out info on making content visible on the sub’s home page? I created our wiki, but I don’t see a link to it, nor do I see a way to link it as I see done in other communities. (Our wiki has a TON of resources to help our community members, it’s a pretty essential piece of the sub I’d like to get more out in the open!)

The subs I mod are focused on a pretty severe cousin condition to OCD, and the condition is particularly dangerous and destructive. It’s extremely common for folks to post asking for help or advice, so I really need a strong set of tools to automate pointing posters in the right direction (mainly our wiki, where I have a growing list of resources available) so they can learn more about the condition and the various opportunities to work towards recovery. I mention this only to really emphasize how important it is to me personally that I deeply understand the modding process.

And for the record, if you find yourself struggling with picking your skin (picking anywhere… fingers, nails, scabs, feet, groin, wherever) or pulling hairs out (again, hairs from anywhere) to the point that you’re causing consistent damage and you’re suffering, but you’re struggling to stop, you may want to look into Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors, or BFRBs! They suck, they’re neither sexy nor fun, but there are tons of resources to help you decrease the damage and work towards suffering a whole lot less. And you are EXTREMELY not alone… it’s estimated about 1 in 20 people have a BFRB!

Even if you don’t have a BFRB, feel free to ask questions in the sub. Our community is active and happy to chat! :)

Stay hydrated unclench your jaw and tummy relax your shoulders fist fight your inner demons smooch smooch love you thank you bye

Tools How to make an automatic rule

I am using an android phone. I am a newer mod and I don't know how to make an automatic rule in my reddit thread. Someone has requested that some photos be flagged as NSFW/disturbing. How do I put that rule in place without blocking every photo that is posted?

Design Unable to update subreddit icon.

[Desktop] I made r/YahwehEats about a day ago and tried to set the subreddit icon to a picture of a cat with a spread of cash and two guns in front of it, it is the very first post on the subreddit as well if you want to know what the picture is as well. I set it and made sure to apply the changes, multiple times. It is STILL a default icon.

Tools Using automations to block badly titled posts

Hi! One of the subs I run has an issue with people leaving out information in post titles, is there a regex code for automations that can block if someone puts only specific phrases with no other information but if it has additional words it would be allowed. I debated putting a block via number of characters but some people will frequently put "please help me find this!" which tells you nothing and some will put "ISO [specific thing]" where the prior should be removed but wouldn't hit and the later will hit but shouldn't be removed. I have a list of all repeat versions of "help me!" but blocking just "help me!" or the others isn't then allowed if say someone writes "help me find [specific thing]"

I would rather use automations over automod so they can update the title right then and there and not have a back and forth.

Is there any way to do this? Thank you

General How to add screening/application questions to a Restricted community?

Hi r/modhelp! Android and laptop browsers

I recently changed my subreddit to Restricted, and I'm trying to add screening questions that potential members must answer before their join request is sent to me for approval.

I've looked in:

- Mod Tools → General Settings

- Mod Tools → Mods & Members

I cannot find where to add application/screening questions.

Is this feature still available? Has it moved? Is it only available on certain Reddit versions?

Any help appreciated — thank you!
