What projector would you recommend? And what software is used for this. Super cool

Thanks! It’s extremely easy to learn projection mapping, and I’ve made a guide here: https://www.motionbynick.com/freebies/projectionmapping

Yes but do they know about

Projecting onto the BACK of a screen

bruh... that is how screens have worked for a while, which is why we have the term "rear projection" lmao

Nick does this stuff for a living, I don’t think he needs a lecture.

That's cool though

You're hilarious Nick. It saddens me every time someone on here takes it seriously.

I prefer the home alone method

The zombie hands is very effective.

Nick, big fan of your work! For future reference, The audience here are not the same as Instagram. We are salty here. idk why. I'm normally a cherry person. Something about these motion/vfx threads that turn me into a grumpy 50 year old man with nagging kids and water damaged home, and I'm a woman. unless this is the reaction you were going for. I'd hate to see another motion designer I admire get the Reddit treatment. There's no pleasing these goons!

Sorry man but this is hella lame.

Ever since I saw that video where the guy projected the animation onto that museum dome, this rinky dink stuff doesn't hit the same.

You should check out his video and learn a thing or two.

You know this is the same person, right?

This thread is full of people who don't understand jokes. He knows it's the same guy, that's why it's funny.

u/Bob-Shurunkle 1d ago

…or does he know it’s the same guy? 🙂

1

u/JohnAtticus 2d ago

It's obviously not the same person.

This guy doesn't have a 50 foot dome in his living room to project on like the other guy.

u/Bob-Shurunkle 2d ago

You can’t have been following him for long. You haven’t seen the upstairs of the house

u/motionick 2d ago

he sounds cute tho tbh

u/motionick 2d ago

I agree

Jokes aside your work is great and this is a solid idea.

There is absolutely zero trick or treating in my neighbourhood, so I have never decorated my place.

If I did, I always had the idea of a two projector setup, one on each of the upstairs windows, which are symmetrical. Then run a loop of a pair of evil eyes that are glaring at the street and down at the walkway below.

Nick, when do you rest your brain?

2

u/motionick 3d ago

What is that R word

1

u/Upbeat-Strain-7999 2d ago

Nick's brain doesn't have a rest mode, it only has "render in background" and "start new project at 2am"
