She’s the queen of selling the same thing multiple times to teenage girls.

Remember when she put out the same vinyl album with four covers that made a picture when you arranged them together in a square? 4 times the sales for doing nothing.

And people think she’s kind and sweet. She’s a vulture

156

u/SecretAnxious6619 11h ago

Her fans base isn’t teenage girls anymore. They’re women in their mid 20s - 40s. Who do you think is buying all of this? It’s women with adult money.

28

u/Char-car92 6h ago

Unfortunately, it’s those people AND their kids

5

u/finnjakefionnacake 7h ago

adult money just sounds funny lol

•

u/TheMillenniumMan 33m ago

Real human monies

18

u/bartelbyfloats 8h ago

Teenagers and middle aged people with teenaged brains.

•

u/TheInvisibleCircus 17m ago

I work with a lot of Adult Swifties (and their kids) who have lost their minds when I told them I have zero interest in her music.

This is the biggest reason.

-10

u/FreeKevinBrown 11h ago

Definitely still teenaged girls. I know, I have one.

24

u/SecretAnxious6619 10h ago

I’m not saying no taylor swift fans are teenage girls but the bulk of her fan base are adult women now.

10

u/Breddit2099 9h ago

And some teens still listen to classic rock. Doesn’t mean Led Zeppelin is a teen band anymore

8

u/Ileokei 9h ago

I’m an over 50 male and she is my most played artist for the past 10 years or so. So by your logic it’s all over 50 males

3

u/holyflurkingsnit 4h ago

Wow, that's interesting. You're definitely not what people would consider as "the" demographic for her music. Who are some of your runner-ups for most-played artists? What is it about her music that you find appealing?

FWIW I don't like her as a person, and I fell off sometime after Lover, but I think the most extreme views of her songwriting (she's horrible and untalented/she's the best songwriter of the past 20 years) are both overblown. I've liked a lot of her singles in the past.

2

u/Ileokei 3h ago

I love music. I have two older brothers and two older sisters, who all like different music. So I grew up, listening to their music, which was a little bit of everything. Eventually I gravitated to The Doors, 80’s and early 90’s rap, mixed in with a lot of blues music, mostly.

I started paying attention to TS in 2006 or so because I have a daughter who was born in 2002 and I wanted a safe artist that her and I could connect with and we did for a while.
My daughter once asked if I went to high school with Taylor and that became the running joke in the family that her and I both went to high school with TS. Makes no sense but that’s what it was.

At the beginning, I listened because I wanted to connect with my kid. Eventually, I listened because I think she’s an excellent writer. On the surface, Taylor writes silly lyrics but if you think about her life or more importantly when I think about my life, I can almost always connect the lyrics to me, to a situation I am in or have been in. She’s written more than 300 songs and I would bet I could easily apply 280 of them or so to my life.

Is she the best songwriter ever? Maybe. For me probably. It’s subjective though right? There is not a definite answer that can fit everyone. For example, I think the Beatles are a touch overrated.

According to Apple Music, I’ve listened to more than 50,000 minutes of music this year. I’ve listened to more than 2000 different artists and more than 5000 different songs. I actively listen to a lot of music.

At the end of this year, it will likely be some version of a pop girl as my second most listened to artist. The past two years I’ve been digging pop music considerably more. If I had to guess I would say sienna, Olivia or Lizzie

Looking back at my Apple tells me that the number two spot has been filled with. B.B. King, Aurora, Bruce Springsteen, the doors, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Lizzie McAlpine, sleep token, and Metallica.

This year so far Taylor Swift first every month and this is the second most listened to.
January Illenium
February, Olivia Rodrigo
March Lewis Capaldi
April Lizzie McAlpine
May Tab Benoit
June Koe Wetzel
July Sienna Spiro
August The Doors

Disrespecting vultures. Vultures clean up the trash.

Plus they can fly!

1

u/somms808 1h ago

And they were in Jungle Book

183

u/watduhdamhell 12h ago

Exactly. No more kid gloves with this one. She's a blood sucking billionaire just like the rest of them, and no it doesn't matter that "you don't have to buy her stuff." She herself is deliberately milking her own fans for profit. It's scumbag behavior now matter how you slice it.

44

u/ThrowAwayAccountAMZN 11h ago

Agreed. It's sad how brainwashed people are with the billionaire class. Whether it's politics or music or sports, people always come out to support an extremely small and elite group who couldn't care less that they exist.

They try to argue that some of them are "just like us" which is absolutely batshit insane to me. They are nothing like us. They don't care who you are. You fund their lavish lifestyle and pine over it while they actively jet set around the world, and in most cases actively participating in it's destruction

-35

u/John_Galtt 12h ago

Look at you. You clearly know what is better for her fans than themselves. Luckily, they have a patronizing person on the internet willing to speak out for them.

18

u/oceanskies24 12h ago

You yourself unironically are being patronising to the above redditor with your tone of voice

Taylor Swift is a capitalist masquerading as a musician. She’s really good at it.

16

u/BeansArePastaSauce 8h ago

Taylor Swift is to music as a magician is to magic; all smoke and mirrors.

3

u/I-Am-The-Warlus Collector 8h ago

She's like the pop star version of KISS (brand not band)

8

u/Angry_X_574 Concertgoer 8h ago

TS is what ever the public wants her to be to make a $$$. If it's profitable, she'll support Trump

-6

u/GuitarzanWSC 7h ago

Show the class where she's ever supported Trump.

4

u/Angry_X_574 Concertgoer 6h ago

Read what I said then come back

3

u/Striking_Cook8603 5h ago

Let's start with how active she is about her trademark and IP. Remember when Trump had those pro ICE ads with her songs? She did nothing for a good 6 months at least.

Then, she had the director of those concentration camps at her wedding. I could care less if it's invite via Travis. She married him, and let that guy come to her wedding.

What has she said against Palestine? Against the actions our current president? What about how long did it take for her to endorse Kamala. But just because she says, doesn't mean that she did.

It's been an awful long time since she's spoken up for the LGBT. What happened to that.

0

u/Specialist_Soil_5433 3h ago

Im glad Taylor refuses to let online trolls run her life. Makes you all crash tf out 😂

1

u/Striking_Cook8603 3h ago

Well she does dedicate song after song about her "haters" so I think you're wrong on that front too.

I would like to edit to add, I could care less about what Taylor does. However, I'm pretty observant and these are my observations. She's famous, she's gonna have people discuss her.

-1

u/GuitarzanWSC 4h ago

LOL. So she's not doing enough for your liking. Got it.

No one becomes a billionaire without loving money first and foremost

-8

u/Fractal-Infinity 12h ago

Ask yourself, who gave her that money? Did she steal them, did she exploit people? It was unavoidable since The Eras Tour generated so much demand, hence income. She made her money fair and square. Blame the society for allowing that, not her for simply doing her job.

11

u/DynamiteDuck 12h ago edited 11h ago

Ask yourself, would me saying that about any other billionaire offend you enough to type all that?

LOL I actually just read all your response now because I certainly didn’t the first time… Did you really just give the Nuremberg defense for fucking Taylor swift?!? LMAO 🤡

-5

u/Fractal-Infinity 11h ago

Taylor made her money fair and square, what is your problem? Apparently she paid her taxes, she paid her crew very well, etc. What are you expecting her to do, to give up her wealth because you say so? If you were in her position, you would quickly change your tune. Just stop the hypocrisy.

As a matter of fact, she is not sitting on a billion. A large part of her wealth is how much her assets (like her music catalogue) worth in case she is selling them.

6

u/emckelvy 10h ago

Yeah, no shit. Elon doesn't literally have a trillion dollars, it's the assets he has that make him worth that much. You can say this about literally any billionaire.

13

u/DynamiteDuck 11h ago

Whatever you got to say to make yourself feel better about simping for billionaires. Not the life choice I would make, but you do you

-3

u/Fractal-Infinity 11h ago edited 11h ago

That's not simping for billionaires, I'm defending what's right. Why would her wealth even bother you? If she didn't steal from you, you should mind your business. Regular people like you and me made her rich. You're crying billionaires are bad. But there is a nuance.

For me it matters how you made your money. And surprise, Taylor Swift made her money only from her music. She didn't steal from anyone. Are you mad because she is so damn successful? That's your problem.

15

u/DynamiteDuck 11h ago

Believing billionaires shouldn’t exist full stop and believe if you are one you care about money first and foremost does not mean I’m mad about Taylor Swift, it means I think she’s a bad person and I think you’re a clown for defending her.

1

u/Fractal-Infinity 11h ago

I actually agree that billionaires shouldn't exist. That's a society problem. But why blame Taylor for basically getting money from people for her artistic products (albums, merch, show tickets, etc)? Blame the system, not the gamer.

I liked Taylor way before she was a billionaire. Personality wise she is almost unchanged. She is still treating people with respect. She still has some people working for her for almost 2 decades. Nobody working for her ever said anything bad about her. I assume they signed NDA clauses but even then, such clauses didn't prevent the truth from escaping.

I would agree that TS is richer than necessary, but that also gives her room to make substantial donations in the future. She is already giving back to society that made her rich.

5

u/No-Transition-8375 11h ago

To be fair, she made her money only from her music because she bombed in almost all her attempts to break into the film business. Taylor’s corporate machine knows how to pivot and give her fans apologetics to use in comment sections like this one.

0

u/Fractal-Infinity 11h ago

I disagree. Taylor knows she is not an actress but a musician. Her attempts to break into the film business were like a side quest. As a storyteller, she is obviously attracted by the visual side too. That's why she started directing her own music videos. Case in point: Anti-Hero, The Fate of Ophelia, Opalite, Patient Zero. To be honest, these videos look professional and high quality.

Taylor’s corporate machine knows how to pivot and give her fans apologetics to use in comment sections like this one.

That sounds like those conspiracy threads from snark subs. Her fans have their own brains to think for themselves. No Taylor corporate machine ever gave "apologetics" to her fans. That's false and ridiculous. We all see that Taylor made her money from music because that's what she does best.

9

u/Fire_Tiger1289 11h ago

She’s still a shitty person

→ More replies (2)

5

u/SNTLY 9h ago

did she exploit people?

Yes. Categorically yes.

It's literally impossible to become a billionaire without someone else being exploited somewhere in the equation.

2

u/BeansArePastaSauce 8h ago edited 8h ago

Doing her job?!?! Surgeons do their job, grocer workers do their job, sanitation workers do their job. These services are needed and we need good people doing those jobs. Taylor’s “job” is not needed and no one “needs” her doing it. You make it sound like she’s “just doing her job” as a pediatric oncologist.

And hell yes she exploits people. She created and encourages parasocial relationships with her fans. Many of those fans were/are young girls. They have a deep deep dependency on her to bring community, joy, and meaning into their life & in order to do that (and in order to keep
up and keep status in the fandom), many fans buy whatever and all that she sells. And she knows this. It’s toxic and exploitive.

0

u/AliceJane1999 8h ago

A funny comparison since most Americans go bankrupt from having no choice but to pay the surgeons and oncologists hundreds of dollars an hour, not from buying a $20 Taylor Swift album of their own volition.

But I’m of the opinion that of the billionaires, Taylor is one of the least exploitative, with all of her worth coming from her own work or that of well-compensated collaborators and staff.

She’s Taylor Swift Inc. is a billionaire

2

u/AgentCirceLuna 10h ago

What are you saying here? I’m confused.

2

u/voxpopper 10h ago

I'm saying that she and her music are a corporatate entity. Everything is tightly controlled and orchestrated, no different than a product launch for Tesla.

1

u/DirtyBalm 2h ago

Her family was rich already, her family's money came from human trafficking.

11

u/EmeraldJunkie 12h ago

I read somewhere that her last album has 39 different versions.

5

u/ambrosiapie 5h ago

Olivia's had 46 (when counting the same type of "variants" that gets you to 39 for Taylors). It sucks that this is industry standard, but it is industry standard and has been going on in pop music long before Taylor Swift and will continue after her.

3

u/Easy_Society4864 3h ago

This is by no means unique to Taylor’s musical output btw. This is industry standard! I don’t like any of these variants either, to be clear.

1

u/Brave_Specific5870 2h ago

Jfc, how tho?? Is just an album cover?? I felt guilty repurchasing 1 cd because I lost it in a move.

This heifer has 39 different versions?

1

u/ItchyContribution758 1h ago

you oughta head over to vinyljerk, tay tay is a masterclass in selling the same thing twice, or in this case, 39 times, to anyone willing to pay.

15

u/georgia1979 11h ago

There are zero ethical billionaires.

30

u/Hazel_Evers 12h ago

She doesn’t even behave like a person, more like a board room full of execs. A semi sentient LLC

1

u/TheSilverOne 10h ago

She's the Skyrim of music

1

u/OwnAstronaut209 9h ago

That's on her fans for being obsessed with everything her. If I could x4 my profit selling the same thing to my fans while doing nothing then why the fuck not

1

u/denneval 9h ago

She’s a vulture… is perfect

1

u/Mccobsta 7h ago

She's not much of a artis over a business woman who knows how to make the most from her fans

1

u/jojo_mimi 6h ago

Literally this is the standard in the music industry. It's not a great practice for sure, but EVERYONE else is doing it, but she gets the heat since she is the most popular. What does this have anything to do with her character a person? Has she done anything bad to you or to anyone??? It's her job to be competitive. Are you not competitive in your career ever?

1

u/miss_kittycat88 6h ago

Capitalist Barbie

1

u/blonde-bandit 6h ago

I remember because you could orient them in such a way that it made a very prominent swastika 🫣

1

u/Masta-Blasta 6h ago

1

u/cointoss3 5h ago

Are you really this fucking dense?

1

u/tanz420 5h ago

Yes and no other artist puts out a thousand variants of their albums, she's the only one!

1

u/Creative_Tone_9241 5h ago edited 5h ago

Didn’t her last album or the one before end up with like 32 variants? The tortured poets whatever was like four different albums with only a couple songs different and then a bunch of variants of each one and a box set. I looked it up her album folklore has 38. Im all for doing a few different ones so fans xan choose or having an exclusive one here and there but 38 is just beyond Jt. There aren’t that many vinyl pressing plants so smaller artist get pushed to the back and their releases delayed for this nonsense

1

u/evewashere 5h ago

Honestly whatever. If you don’t like it, it doesn’t have to be for you. We can let women/girls like things. People have free will and can spend their money how they want and we don’t need to shame them for it

1

u/nvmenotfound 4h ago

she is a rich bitch that wants to put forth this sweet little country girl while she flies around in pjs hanging with the elite.

1

u/jellytwins101 4h ago

I mean Olivia also released multiple variants for this remix song.

1

u/Specialist_Soil_5433 3h ago

I do love how all Taylor has to do is…her job and people completely crash out over it lol

1

u/Cabbages24ADollar 3h ago

Just like AC/DC to teenage boys in the 70’s.

1

MJ’s fans probably were even more obsessed with him but he didnt use that power squeeze every dollar from them lol

5

-3

u/JarlBalllinnn 12h ago

I fear I would pay a lot of money for that lol

6

u/sillyjew 13h ago

No shit. She’s far from the first artist to release multiple covers of the same album.

8

u/bhputnam 12h ago

Name someone who does it more

2

u/QuercusTomentella 12h ago

The rolling stones: https://www.loudersound.com/news/rolling-stones-hackney-diamonds-vinyl-variants

Virtually all rolling stones albums have 20+ variants (several more than 40) of just vinyl alone if all formats counted many albums are over 100 variants

But also miley cyrus (16 vinyl vatiants of latest album), charli xcx, just about any modern pop star.

2

u/Aero_Rising 11h ago

It's funny how the other comment got an immediate response but yours that proves them wrong is just ignored.

-2

u/tikstar 12h ago edited 12h ago

So the issue isn't that artists sell the same thing more than once, but the frequency of which she does it is the issue? Keep in mind consumers have a choice on how they spend their money. This isn't insurance.

2

u/bhputnam 12h ago

Weird take

2

u/JarlBalllinnn 13h ago edited 13h ago

I really can’t fathom why people get so angry about this.

9

u/Trippingthru99 11h ago

Really? You can’t understand why some people are angry and tired of vapid consumerism and materialism?

It’s not about Taylor specifically. It’s gross when you see anyone engage in such scummy tactics to make an extra buck, or game the charts.

We used to call out artists for being “sell outs”. Now it seems like a lot of people are applauding them for “getting their bag”.

And dont take my words out of context. If a struggling artist tries to make an extra buck, that’s one thing. But it’s just gross to see Taylor Swift, a literal billionaire, nickle and dime her fans like this over and over for years. And it would be gross for any artist to engage in what she’s doing. So once again, it’s not about Swift specifically.

Just dumb shit and we should be calling it out.

5

u/BingleFlip94 12h ago

It doesn’t necessarily make me angry that she’s cashing in on her obsessed fans, it’s just disheartening that so many millions of people are so captured by chronic consumerism that they’d spend money on useless shit

0

u/kajohansen 11h ago

Yet, the targets of this criticism are always women. Whether it’s Stanleys, makeup or Taylor Swift vinyls, women’s interests will always be moralised. Yet people are silent when men buy multiple football jerseys for the same team or deck their house in football merch. Not to mention that these teams often are owned by oil billionaires from the Middle East and have players with multiple rape or DV allegations, yet you’re morally questionable for financially contributing to Taylor Swift.

6

u/BromoFom 10h ago

Men get shit on for mindless consumerist behavior all the time. Especially if it’s anything that isn’t sports.

1

u/BingleFlip94 7h ago

Case in point: Funkopops

4

u/BeansArePastaSauce 8h ago

Didn’t your English teacher give you a lesson on logical fallacies? Here, I’ll help:

Lesson #1: Logical Fallacies

Today’s Fallacy-

• Whataboutism:

a rhetorical tactic that deflects criticism by countering with a different accusation or question, often implying hypocrisy without addressing the original issue. It is considered a logical fallacy because it distracts from the main argument and does not provide a valid response to the initial accusation.

1

u/BingleFlip94 11h ago

I hate all of it

15

u/lrrssssss 12h ago

People get so angry because it’s the opposite of her purported image. She feigns activism, being in touch with _____, calls out billionaires but then acts exactly like them.

Plus overexposure. We all had enough of her around 2017

0

u/tikstar 12h ago

Well there are CEOs that make you pay for insurance and then deny your claims. Are we grouping the behavior of insurance ceos with Taylor Swift?

7

u/lrrssssss 11h ago

Taylor swift flies in a private jet between cities that are 20 minutes away. Just bc the damage is indirect (to the earth that we rely on for sustenance) doesn’t make it less harmful.

-4

u/JarlBalllinnn 12h ago edited 12h ago

She is neither an elected official nor using her money to influence public policy so I don’t see the point in getting angry at a musician for a lack of accountability.

18

u/bhputnam 12h ago

She’s gaming the system at the expense of up and coming artists. She always times these to eclipse other musician’s albums to keep herself on top.

-3

u/_Cat_12345 12h ago

Taylor Swift has been elbow deep in the music industry since she was 16. She’s put in an insane amount of work to create artwork that resonates with a large group of people.

She isn’t popular because she’s gamed the system her whole life. She’s popular because people keep listening to her music. Up and coming artists shouldn’t expect handouts, especially from someone like Taylor Swift who gets picked apart and raked over the coals by the general public/media every other Tuesday.

2

u/BeansArePastaSauce 7h ago

I think you mean her dad put in an insane amount of work to buy her start in music. Read the infamous Scott Swift email.

0

u/_Cat_12345 7h ago

You can’t buy the level of stardom that TS has developed, and I’m not gonna participate in a conversation that implies a successful female is only so because her dad has money.

Like her music or not, her songwriting resonates with millions of people, which has solidified her legacy and why she’s the youngest female ever inducted in the songwriters hall of fame.

5

u/bhputnam 12h ago

There’s a difference between expecting a handout and expecting one of the biggest names in music to not put out a carefully timed album to mitigate anyone else’s time on the charts.

0

u/_Cat_12345 12h ago

If Taylor wants to extend her time on the charts, that’s her prerogative.

Every other artist does the exact same thing.

-4

u/bhputnam 12h ago

Every other artist does not do the same thing lmao

It’s also her prerogative to date football stars and make weird music about their “wood” and fly her private jet all over the country. I don’t think she should be jailed but don’t be obtuse and make false equivalencies and ignore how she games the system.

-2

u/_Cat_12345 12h ago

You’re right. Sorry it’s just Taylor.

That second paragraph was a wild read lol. Sounds like you just want her to disappear entirely rather than share the charts.

4

u/Slowpc 11h ago

No it's understandable how many variants of the main album get released on release day but Taylor's releases alternate versions of just singles during nearly every other female artists single or album release.

It's like other artists setup a premiere on YouTube and once I see that I'm expecting a surprise taylor drop.

-4

u/derekbaseball 12h ago

The “up and coming” artists in this case seem to be Olivia Rodrigo and Chappel Roan. Won’t somebody protect the poor innocent millionaires being targeted by this evil billionaire?

3

u/bhputnam 11h ago

Yes, because it’s only ever them trying to put out music, right?

And people will go and complain that so much sounds the same these days…

They are miserable in their own lives, and they get high from feeling morally superior to others. The problem is they are so high on their own self-perceived moral superiority (which has a black-and-white view of the world as its foundation) to realize they have become judgmental aholes.

4

u/JarlBalllinnn 12h ago

You’re probably right. At the end of the day we are all just generating shareholder value for the record labels and media companies, so makes little sense to moralise anything within that sphere.

So we can take advantage of teenage girls now? You share that opinion across your life?

-11

u/LimeLauncherKrusha 12h ago

Youre right no other artist has ever put out multiple versions of an album before 🙄

2

u/Fractal-Infinity 12h ago

That's a ridiculous take. All major artists release various versions of their albums. That includes the same album with different covers.

She could sell 1 million versions, what is your problem with that? If they're selling then it means there's demand for them. That's basic capitalism: supply and demand. But apparently, it's only a problem when Taylor is doing it. I don't see the same energy against other artists who do exactly the same.

Yes, she is kind and sweet. She didn't steal your money and didn't harm you in any way. She donated a lot of money to food banks, hospitals, etc. She visited children's hospitals, and so much more.

You're basically mad because she is doing her job of being the biggest popstar alive and being a savvy business woman. The problem is yours, buddy. You need to stop being jealous of her.

Your rage bait is a little too on the nose towards the end

u/Living_System_7850 12h ago

Defending rich people is so kooky. Do better ya dork.

0

u/Fractal-Infinity 11h ago

No argument, kiddo. Stay down.

1

u/Thin_Yoghurt242 7h ago

RiCh PeOpLe BaD is the argument

0

u/Owlblossom 5h ago

She wasn't 'kind and sweet' in Brazil

1

u/Fractal-Infinity 5h ago

Really? What did she do, besides playing stadium shows?

1

u/Owlblossom 5h ago

1

u/Fractal-Infinity 5h ago

Right from the intro:

On the day of the concert—which was attended by over 60,000 people—Rio de Janeiro recorded an abnormal heat index of 59.3 °C (138.7 °F) due to a heat wave in Brazil. T4F reportedly prohibited concertgoers from bringing their own food and water into the venue, citing "security concerns", which caused about one thousand dehydrated attendees to faint) before and during the show.

Do you know how to read? It clearly says there was a huge heatwave and T4F indirectly caused Ana to die. Taylor just played her show, she has nothing to do with it.

She isn’t selling anything here though if you actually did the bare minimum level of research you’d see she made old variants free and didn’t release anything new.

9

u/nutbaby420 12h ago

you’re in every comment. either a bot or just…really sad.

2

u/ImpracticalJerker 13h ago

What an insane take. She doesn't need to 'sell' them to make money she just needs people to own/listen to them and that also stops any other artist from reaching an audience.

3

u/Dry-Mongoose-5804 13h ago

Taylor making music free prevents people from listening to other artists??? What a deranged thing to say with absolutely no basis in reality hahahah

12

u/Old_Direction_3713 13h ago

Some people truly only find music through the charts and can’t fathom that some of us ignore the top 10 entirely lol

2

u/bhputnam 12h ago

Prevents other artists from getting the exposure they maybe deserve. It’s not like no one has heard of Taylor Swift. Your fave is undoubtedly taking advantage of the system, defend it blindly all you want.

0

u/Hortos 11h ago

Just remember she didn't come up with that. Someone who makes less than six figures suggested it to someone above them and above them till it got to an executive who will make an additional bonus off of sales.

0

u/obsoleteconsole 8h ago

It's her name on the cover, and she has the power to just not

0

u/MadeOfPoison27 8h ago

Fuckin so? What's your point?

There was a time when she put effort into the alternate version (i.e. Long Pond sessions of Folklore). Things jumped the shark when she reverted back to the Lover era for Cruel Summer. The grift has been much more overt since.

-1

u/Finchypoo 13h ago

She's a goddamn vampire.

1

u/Beneficial-Serve-204 7h ago

No one was obligated to buy anything.

0

u/Lazy__Astronaut 5h ago

And gambling addicts aren't forced to gamble, but when those sites have a bunch of algorithms that offer deals at the right time to one as individual to make them add more money to their accounts it's still predatory.

-2

u/killey2011 12h ago

My favorite part of this is where Taylor swift goes into your house and holds a gun to your head until you purchase them.

1

u/Recent-Day3062 11h ago

That would be impractical. You have to lure people in by the thousands

0

u/torn8tv 11h ago

She gives her obsessive "fans" FOMO when she releases shit like this. So yes, it may not be a gun but she sure as hell may be pointing one at her "fans" heads with how they react if they don't get her "newest" released slop

-1

u/kajohansen 11h ago

Everyone does this but she’s the only one you people call out.

4

u/gleaminranks 11h ago

She’s the most popular artist in the world, of course people are gonna notice it from her more than anyone.

She is leagues ahead of every other pop musician which is what makes all the chart blocking maneuvers even more pathetic

1

u/BeansArePastaSauce 7h ago

You guys can’t have it both ways; she can’t be the “biggest pop star alive” and then not get called out for her transgressions. You want your cake but you want to eat it too, ya can’t.

1

u/Defiant-Speaker-5681 11h ago

Um. No. The vast majority of artists do not release an album with 4 different covers and nor do they intentionally line up additional releases in attempt to overshadow other artists. Most artists cheer on their fellow artists. Other artists do not release nearly as many versions of songs or albums as she does. Proportionally. I know you are going do some other BS argument about how she is just a prolific artist but I am talking about frequency.

Is this really your best defense for her behavior? "Everyone does this" when it is blatantly obvious to everyone else that, no, she is the only one doing this.

Remember when she has yet to perform any of her new music LIVE?!

1

u/AliceJane1999 8h ago

…. Because she just spent two years doing 3.5 hour shows every WEEK!?! God forbid a girl take a break to have a wedding, I guess?

-2

u/TheMapesHotel 13h ago

Ya what's up with that?

-2

u/Bonnavetty 13h ago

And that Toy Story “performance” during the premiere doesn’t count.

-2

u/tswiftdeepcuts 9h ago

do all these also make you mad at what vultures the artists are? or is it just a common industry practice to release lots of variants at this point but you are only aware of taylor doing it or only care when it’s her

4

u/Specific_Culture9239 7h ago

Yes, it's all pathetic, welcome to the conversation. Your idol is part of the problem.

2

u/Recent-Day3062 7h ago

I have no idea what you’re showing.

1

u/BarrathBeyond 5h ago

they’re showing the multiple variant releases of other pop artists as some sort of gotcha, like if you had criticized jeffrey dahmer and someone had said “well what about all these other murderers, why aren’t you criticizing them?”

1

u/dancingyoyo 5h ago

Variants vs a picture, variants allows choice while a picture encourages multiple purchases of the same release. It’s manipulation and dishonesty from the richest person in show business.

1

u/CaptSnafu101 5h ago

Are you mad

0

u/phone2slow 10h ago

And if you arranged it, it forms a swatiska

1

u/tswiftdeepcuts 8h ago

forms a clock. cut any circle in fourths and arrange it weird and see what happens - they were numbered on how to arrange them to make a clock

→ More replies (1)

0

u/Msmadmama 10h ago

And people were arranging them into swastikas

0

u/sLXonix 9h ago

T Swift isn’t a person, it’s a giant media company that’s great at repackaging the same product

-11

u/SnowflakeSorcerer 13h ago

Didn’t they arrange into a swastika on the back as well?

13

u/CelestrialDust 13h ago

It was meant to be a clock some people just got….creative

u/Helporsomethinglike 13h ago

Hey now, I have a 35 year old male friend who did that as well. She's just the queen of grifting her fans.

6

u/Slight-Owl4300 13h ago

Who is forcing them to buy it?

How is it grifting if those fans actually want the variants she's selling?

-5

u/Helporsomethinglike 13h ago

The idea of "not being a real fan"

4

u/Slight-Owl4300 12h ago

LOL

This is so funny to me.

Some Swifties collect vinyl and CDs, some don't, and those that don't aren't any less of a fan than those that do.

9

u/John_Galtt 12h ago

I’ve been friends with hardcore swifties. This is not a view they share. They are not sizing each other up on who is a bigger fan. They just think Swift is a generational artist and like her content.

1

u/Slight-Owl4300 12h ago

I think you misread my comment because you're actually in agreement with what I said?

My comment was stating that Swifties don't qualify their level of fandom based on what they collect or don't collect.

1

u/John_Galtt 12h ago

My bad—you’re right.

-1

u/CTFMOOSE 11h ago

You mean business and marketing genius! Money doesn’t have owners… only spenders. The game is the game yo!

0

u/mojizus 7h ago

I say it’s just smart practice. Any of us would do the same in her shoes.

0

u/CanPlayGuitarButBad 7h ago

Im so happy people are realizing she sucks. Ive been the aforementioned hater for so long and it’s so liberating to see it wasn’t in vein
