Hype One of my favorite Giants of all time was in my home town this weekend for his daughter's hockey tournament. He spent time in the community enjoying some local eats and drinks. I didn't meet him but know a few people who did. Comes as no surprise that he was super friendly and a class act.

Discussion the sudden jameis hate is a little much
i don't like any of this winston hate at all. he played great against washington (326/3td/0int) and willed us back in that game. and he had a decent performance against the cardinals the week before. yesterday's game he had us up 10 before special teams and defense blew 17 points without winston even touching the ball.
keep in mind we had zero run game yesterday, everyone here is bitching skatt got benched. at that point he was just trying to make plays at a point where we had zero momentum or run game. i definitely think the switch up of throwing jj in there helped us but he still made multiple bad throws that fortunately went his way.
seems like i'm in the minority here and hopefully i'm wrong as jj will probably lead us against houston, but i feel way more confident in jameis.

Discussion [Raanan] John Harbaugh says he knows and understands how Najee Harris and the RBs feel about the 4-man rotation. They all want to be the No. 1 guy. But Harbaugh says he also knows that carries are "earned" and tells them "do something" in their opportunities and more will come.
x.com[Johnson] John Harbaugh on Najee Harris' comments:
"I do understand it, respect it. Also understand that that's earned. I would love for us to be in that kind of a circumstance, a Derrick Henry circumstance or the Saquon Barkley circumstance ... that would great.
"Our run game hasn't earned that yet. None of those guys have. My advice would be, to any player ... 'Do the most you can with the opportunities you get. Make the most of those opportunities and you're sure to get more opportunities. Do something.'
"I get it that you want to get out there and you want to get in a rhythm, but that rhythm is earned, too, and it just hasn't happened yet. Definitely want it happen. A couple weeks ago we kind of went that direction, and the running game was no different than it was this last game.
"My advice is, 'Go out there and take the job when you get the ball. Take the job.' That would be true, I think good advice, for all of us at all times in every circumstance, and I know he understands that."

Discussion [@nflrums] 🚨🚨Several teams have called the #Colts about RB Jonathan Taylor
x.comShould the giants give the colts a call? This could be a move for the future, not just this year
Taylor with Skat at 2 sounds pretty damn good

Discussion [Johnson] Najee Harris on the Giants’ RB rotation: “It’s hard to get in a rhythm with one or two plays. The first couple runs will be like, ‘OK, how are they playing it?’ And then next ones will be, ‘OK, this is how you attack it.’ But if you’re getting a play here then get taken out for a series.
x.comContinued: There’s nothing you could do. That’s why I’m saying, ‘I don’t know.’ I’ve never been through none of this before.”

Articles [Duggan]: The New York Giants can’t keep making this many mistakes and counting on a comeback
The New York Giants have trailed by double digits in four of their six games this season. That’s not a formula for success, and the Giants were burned by digging a deep hole in their 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The Saints scored 34 straight points over a stretch that started with 1:18 left in the second quarter and extended to 11:31 in the fourth quarter to open up a 34-10 lead. The Giants improbably rallied behind J.J. McCarthy, who replaced Jameis Winston early in the fourth quarter. But their comeback fell short when McCarthy’s last-second pass sailed over the shoulder of tight end Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone on fourth-and-1 from the Saints’ 14-yard line.
The Giants are a flawed team whose degree of difficulty increased when starting quarterback Jaxson Dart was lost seven snaps into their second game with a season-ending knee injury. It was impressive that the Giants overcame an early 14-3 deficit to beat the Cardinals 36-24 in Week 4 and staged a furious comeback to climb out of a fourth-quarter 27-13 hole against the Commanders last week to force a tie. But the Giants’ surprising 3-2-1 start could be derailed if they don’t start playing cleaner football.
“We’ve got so many stretches where we’re not playing good football,” coach John Harbaugh said. “There’s so many stretches that are not winning football. We’re not stopping the run like we need to at all. We’re not keeping the quarterback where he needs to be at all — way too many quarterback scrambles. We had a couple of things in coverage that weren’t good. So defensively, we’ve got to play way better. And our guys know it. Way more consistently. Offensively, we’re not executing well. We’re not hitting basic plays like we need to. We’re not running the ball well enough at all.”

Discussion The Jameis Winston Experience is Over
Let me start with this. I thought it a very poor decision by Harbaugh to bench Skatt all game, when he brings a different energy and toughness to the game. No carries is criminal in a game where Harris and Singletary weren't getting it done when it mattered. I'm furious about that. The energy shift was palpable. Extreme punishment.
With that said, the Winston Experience should be done. JJ McCarthy won the locker room. you could see it at the end of the game. Players coming up to him, players hugging him and talking him up. He was the reason for that comeback. He took control. You could see his confidence grow after each pass. He had ZIP, he showed accuracy. He showed elusiveness. Yes, I know the detractors will say the interceptions. He had one. I know. There aren't too many QBs in the league who aren't throwing picks this year, and oh, by the way, Winston threw two and looked abysmal.
Bottom line, JJ has the greater upside potential this year. He has the stronger arm. He has the elusiveness and speed advantage over Winston. He is younger. His reads were quicker, while Winston was dancing around the pocket, while JJ was escaping.
We all saw it. You don't give up a 5th rounder for a back up with no intention to play him. Now is the time. Now is a critical time in the season, 4-2-1 next week or 3-3-1 and mediocrity. You make the statement now as the coach. Harbaugh needs to show guts and uses his eyes like we all did. Was there some garbage time throws and great catches? Yes, but JJ got it there, whether it was soft zone or not. you could see the Saints caving. If We had kicked the FG immediately, I believe JJ pulls off the miracle comeback
11-21- 243 and a 90 passer rating.
He gets the rest of the season.

Discussion What JJ needs to prove that Jameis hasn’t.
So many times throughout the past three weeks, we see James look like shit in the first half which sets up the inevitable comeback attempt. We were never gonna win many games playing like that.
If JJ can prove he could play competent football for 4 quarters and not turn the ball over at a high rate then he’s gonna be the starting QB.
At this point see what JJ can do, if he balls out then we can flip him for a high pick, get dart back next season and draft a back up qb in a late round or something. JJ being a project for a 5th rounder can benefit us if he continues to look good.

Data and Analytics [Dunleavy] Giants had a 0.1 percent win probably when J.J. McCarthy entered the game, per ESPN. They finished one 14-yard pass short of needing a PAT to tie.

Discussion [Dunleavy] Cam Skattebo was a ghost. Skatteboooooooo He knew he’d have a lesser role as punishment for fumbles. But… “I didn’t expect to have zero’ touches Did Giants make a mistake?

Discussion Was benching Skattebo basically the whole game really worth it?
This team is pitiful, had so much potential but just awful...
