Hey r/OLED_Gaming,
Let's talk about the holy grail of desktop setups: the 5K2K ultrawide. For years, the trade-off was clear. You either got the massive, pixel-dense 5K2K canvas for insane immersion and productivity, but had to sacrifice pure gaming speed and HDR brightness. Or, you went for a lower-res, standard OLED to get the performance.
But when we ask, "Which 5K2K gaming monitors deliver the most immersive experience?", the answer shouldn't force you to choose. It should be about combining that massive ultra-wide real estate with uncompromising, bleeding-edge gaming specs.

Enter the LG UltraGear evo™ 39GX950B—the world's first 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor1.
We built this to be the definitive 5K2K gaming monitor, giving you a massive 21:9 canvas at a razor-sharp 143 PPI.
To make sure this 5K2K display actually delivers the HDR pop you expect from a premium gaming monitor, we backed it with our 4th Gen Tandem OLED tech2, hitting an ultra-high 1,500 nits peak brightness3. Plus, it features the world's first 5K AI Upscaling, meaning you get that immersive, high-res image without necessarily needing a massive GPU upgrade4.

But marketing claims only mean so much. We want to see how this 5K2K beast performs in your actual, everyday battlestations. We’re looking for 3 hardcore enthusiasts to put it to the test.

Discussion Is 30 FPS really that bad on OLED?
Hello everyone!
I’m thinking on upgrade from IPS to OLED, saw a few GTA 6 screenshots comparison and the difference in image quality looks insane.
My main concern is GTA 6 on PS5 (and 30fps console games), which will probably run at 30 FPS, is the stutter at 30 FPS really that noticeable? Is it a dealbreaker, or do you get used to it?
I read some posts on twitter talking about OLED where some users talk about motion processing settings and that if you are going to play at 30 fps mini led is better because the quick color changue of the OLED makes the 30 fps so much worse.
Im going to use the monitor mainly for my pc so almost everytime I will have +60fps but I want to know how is on 30fps games mainly for GTA.
Thanks for your help! And sorry for my bad english since im not a native speaker. (Greetings from Spain!)

Discussion I FIXED WINDOWS COLORS! (no AI slop)
I refuse to become an Apple Slave to be Creative!
After a week of desperation to get back into drawing digitally, I was ready to give up on calibrating my settings to match colorspaces appropriately in all conditions.
Windows 11 is still my main operating system. I refuse to become an MacOS sheep!
But after long reading and researching obscure forums, microsoft release pages and trial and error, I've finally figured out a bulletproof way to get the following.
- sRGB clamp with accuracy on any wide gamut monitor (so basically every OLED or modern IPS Display) for every day activity. So any app that isn't color aware in windows, and uses ICC profiles to manage colors.
- accurate color gamuts in color aware apps like Photoshop, Lightroom Clip Studio Paint, Davinci, etc. for professional color work that requires accuracy.
No need for annoying toggles or restarting programs!
Ingredients are as follows:
- An ICC / ICM profile for your specific monitor model, either provided by the manufacturer or created using color calibration software. I found mine as "Monitor Driver" in a zip on the Monitor Page under "Support" https://de.msi.com/Monitor/MAG-271QPX-QD-OLED-E2/support
If there isn't one, you can order a colorimeter on amazon, measure yours with something like DisplayCal and return your order in countries with applicable return policies. YMMV!
- Knowledge of your Monitor's OSD default preset. Figure out which color mode corresponds to the Panels raw color gamut, without any clamp. For mine, it was the "User" mode, make sure to leave everything else on default and turn off anything called Sharpening, AI Color, Premium Color, Night Mode, etc.
How to set it up
- Select the ICM/ICC profile as your Windows Default Color Profile in SDR.
- On the Legacy Color Management Window, head into the Advanced Tab, click on change system defaults, head to the advanced tab there, and select "Use Windows display calibration" at the bottom. Without this, the gamma curve of your ICM won't be correctly applied.
- In Windows Color Settings, select ACM (Automatic Color Management) this way, any non-color aware application, will convert to your ICC profile gamut and then clamp to sRGB. If something isn't color aware, chances are whatever it's displaying was designed to be viewed in sRGB. This way, games, non aware photo apps, will all show the correct colors.
- For any application that is ICC aware and requires accurate colors, find the .exe file for it, the executable, rightclick > properties > compatibility > and select "Use Legacy display ICC color management".
And now you're basically done.
If you want to verify, use a color aware photo viewer or your browser (if it's chrome or firefox)
and look at this image. https://i.ibb.co/mCc34FQ6/gamut-ramp-srgb-p3-adobe.png
If you set it up correctly, the Image should show sRGB gamut on the left and DisplayP3 gamut on the right, the colors should have more saturation the further you look to the right.
Hope this helps!

Discussion Is the LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B Worth It as My First OLED Monitor?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about upgrading my monitor for a while now, and I’d really appreciate some advice.
Currently, I’m using an AOC 1080p 240Hz monitor, which I’ve been really happy with. I’ve had it for about two or three years, and it was my first gaming monitor. However, since GTA 6 is coming out, I’ve been thinking about upgrading to something better.
I’ve found the LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B, a 1440p OLED monitor, for €293, reduced from €600. The deal is only available until the end of today, so I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth buying.
This would be my first OLED monitor, and while it looks really good, I’m a bit unsure because I’ve seen quite a few people mentioning issues like gray banding and other panel-related problems. I don’t know that much about OLED monitors, so I’m not really sure how common these issues are or whether I should be concerned about them.
For those of you who own this monitor, would you recommend it? How is the picture quality, and have you experienced any issues with gray banding or other panel problems? I’ve also read that this monitor uses an older OLED panel, but that it’s still pretty good. Is that true?
Another thing I’m wondering about is GTA 6. Since GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS on consoles, I’m a bit concerned about how it will feel on an OLED monitor. I’ve read that 30 FPS can feel noticeably worse on OLED displays compared to other types of monitors. Is there any truth to that?
I have a really good 4K Samsung OLED TV, and playing games at 30 FPS on it has never really bothered me. I can definitely notice the difference between 30 and 60 FPS, especially when a game feels less smooth, but I generally prefer better graphics and resolution over higher frame rates.
I play quite a lot of games at 30 FPS because I usually prioritize graphics over performance. That’s why I’m wondering whether an OLED monitor would be a good choice for me, especially considering that GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS on consoles. I don’t want to spend money on a new monitor only to find out that games at 30 FPS feel significantly worse on it.
At €293, the LG seems like a really good deal, but since this would be my first OLED monitor, I want to make sure I’m making the right decision.
Would you recommend this monitor, especially at this price? Are the potential panel issues something I should worry about, or is it a good choice for someone upgrading from a 1080p IPS monitor?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences!

Unlock full HDMI 2.1 (48GBPS) on MO27Q28G(R)?

While I was toying with Custom Resolution Utility to fix an issue, I noticed some interesting settings related to the maximum bandwidth. I set both of these to 48Gbps, and disabled DSC on my monitor.
And to my surprise, I was actually able to select the full resolution and refresh rate, which is indeed within spec of true HDMI 2.1 without DSC:

Even DSR-factors, a setting which doesn't appear on RTX 3000 with DSC enabled, shows for me:

I tried 2.25 DL, but refresh rate was limited (does that even fit in the HDMI 2.1 spec?)
Now, unless I'm missing something, did I just find a way to "unlock" the full capability of the HDMI 2.1 spec? The full 48 Gbps? Or is there still DSC going on, even when the monitor itself has it in the "off" position?
To test that this wasn't a fluke, I ran reset.exe. And I was actually not able to select the same resolution and refresh rate with DSC disabled anymore! I had to choose between resolution or refresh rate.
TLDR: somehow i'm able to run my monitor in full spec after a simple CRU edit, even when the port supposedly only supports 24gbps?

Setup Very happy with my first OLED.
I recently bought a "Open-Box" GIGABYTE G27Q24G for £240, it had around 16 hours of usage time on it when I checked and I'm very happy with my purchase coming from a 1440p 180hz IPS panel.
Just wanted to ask do you guys leave HDR always on or just turn it on whenever you need it?

Discussion ASUS XG27AQWMG Auto Pixel clean bug report.
Hey y'all. I've been seeing more and more posts both here and on Asus forums regarding a bug on the automatic Pixel clean causing exaggerated grey banding and DSE which requires a manual clean to fix. So I decided its about time someone made a formal bug report. I just got off with ASUS support and they escalated my report and took down my contact info, and said theyd be in touch in a few business days, so hopefully a firmware update gets pushed at sometime in the future.
This is my message I sent them.
"I’d like to report what is presumably a firmware bug on the ROG STRIX XG27AQWM, Firmware Version MCM107 in regards to Automatic Pixel Clean, as well as the pixel clean run through the Asus Display Widget app. After the Automatic Pixel Clean is run during standby mode or ran through the Display Widget app the monitor shows an exaggerated amount of vertical banding as well as horizontal “dirty screen effect”, which is only remedied by the manual pixel clean run through the Monitors OSD. This issue has been reported on multiple online forums including r/OLED_Gaming on Reddit as well official ASUS support forums, so I am sure this is not isolated to my unit and also does not affect my ROG STRIX XG32UQWMS, which also utilizes a 4th Gen Tandem WOLED panel, which both point to it being a firmware bug.
I would also like to clarify that this is not a complaint about vertical grey banding in general, as I understand that banding and DSE to a certain degree is to be expected on these panels, and this is specially a problem with the Auto Pixel Clean Function."
They then asked for some picture comparing the difference (which clearly showed improved uniformity after a manual clean compared to auto) and confirmation I was on the latest firmware MCM107, which i provided.
I will provide an update once they respond.

LG 27GR95QE-B edge of monitor issue
I noticed this appear just a few days after the warranty period, and since then, it's been around a month and it's spreading throughout the right edges of the monitor. If it pixels shifts to the left enough, I don't see it anymore. Could this be a delamination issue?

Discussion Looking for my first 1440p OLED monitor
I’m finally looking to upgrade my monitor setup and get my first 1440p OLED display, but honestly, I only know the basic specs and could really use some advice from people who know their stuff.
Right now, I'm upgrading from a cheap LG TV, so my main goal is just getting an amazing visual experiencevibrant colors, deep contrast, true blacks, idk... I also want to enjoy HDR in games and movies.
As for refresh rates, 140Hz - 160Hz is enough for what I play and do. If a monitor happens to have 240Hz or higher, that's great, but crazy high refresh rates aren't my top priority at all. My absolute max budget is around €450 (or strictly under €500), and I'll be using it most for gaming, watching movies, browsing, and everyday light desktop use.
My desk setup is next to a window on the right side. During the day, quite a bit of light comes in, though I always have the curtains drawn. It’s not direct blinding sunlight, but it’s definitely not a dark room either. I'm a bit unsure how different panel coatings or brightness levels handle ambient room light like that. Also, burn-in and long-term durability worry me a bit.
These are my main options for the research i've done :
- Gigabyte GO27Q24G (27" QHD, 240Hz OLED) – ~€345
- MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 (27" WQHD, 240Hz QD-OLED) – ~€349
- ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMES (26.5" QHD, 240Hz OLED) – ~€399
- Gigabyte MO27Q2A (27" QHD, 280Hz OLED) – ~€419
- ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQDMGR (26.5" QHD, 240Hz OLED) – ~€468
Would love to hear your thoughts on these! Are any of these a clear must avoid or an obvious winner for the price? I would love to know your opinions :D
Thanks in advance for any tips or guidance!

AW3926QW + Steam Machine 😮💨😮💨
Of course, I'm running the monitor at 2560x1080p 330hz mode.
To be honest... it still looks amazing, I'm able to running everything in HIGH, using Quality mode FSR.
I have been playing more on the Steam Machine despite having a super high end rig, SteamOS is simply amazing, I can just turn it on and boot the game without any hassle.

Discussion LG 32gx870A-B or 32gx870B-B?
I'm on the fence between these two, the monitor is going to be used mainly for gaming and some photo/video editing.
I can currently get the A-B for 610€ where I live, and it arrives in a week, and the B-B for around 830€ but this one takes up to 2 months to arrive.
My question is if tandem 4th gen OLED is that much better than MLA+ 3rd gen OLED, because it seems to be the main difference between the two. And the B-B is UHBR20 as well, which is nice.

Discussion Best way to clean an OLED monitor without damaging the coating?
Hey everyone!
I own an OLED monitor, and lately the screen has gotten pretty dirty with lots of fingerprints and smudges.
I’m looking for the safest way to clean it without damaging the delicate screen coating.
Are there any aftermarket screen cleaning sprays or kits you guys recommend? Or should I just stick to distilled water and a microfiber cloth?
OLED monitors aren’t cheap, and the last thing I want is to ruin the coating trying to clean some fingerprints lol.
Would appreciate recommendations from fellow OLED owners.
What do you guys personally use?

Discussion PG32UCWM/PG32UCDM3 (Gen 3) UK Availability
Hello - my monitor (a very old Acer Predator XB321hk) stopped working after 10 years, and i've been looking for a new monitor. My pc is otherwise brand new up to date, so was looking for something to do 4K, higher refresh rates, etc.
I use it work WFH and also gaming - and settled on the two in the title after doing a bit of research. My concern however is they seem weirdly difficult to find - and i'm not sure if i'm missing some kinda weird pitfall or something, like if there was a recall or issues or something. Neither model shows on Amazon except for one listing which doesnt ship until next year? The asus store has them, but i'm concerned about a lack of stock if there's like, a warranty issue and i need a replacement?
Idk, maybe im just dooming but is there something about these i'm missing, or is it just brexit nonsense messing with availability?

Technical Support MSI 271QRX - horizontal lines appeared after Panel Protect cycle (not burn-in)
I've been using an MSI 271QRX as my daily driver since January 2024. Today, after its last auto Panel Protect cycle, I noticed a bunch of horizontal lines appeared at the bottom of the screen. They're always visible, even when displaying a full white image. The monitor has zero signs of burn-in (icons, taskbar).
I've run a couple of tests using different cables (DP, HDMI, and USB-C) and computers using the EIZO Monitor Test. I can confirm this is a monitor problem.
I use the monitor mostly for gaming and watching video content and on very rare occasions for work, but I have been very carefull with it:
- I run the Panel Protect cycle everyday before I go to sleep
- The screen is set to turns off after 3 minutes
- Taskbar is set to auto-hide
- I use dark whenever possible

I haven't factory reset the monitor yet. Is there anything else I can try before reaching out to the store or MSI support?
Thanks!

G6 or C6, Help me decide please.
I’m getting the LG C6 83-inch and G6 77-inch for the same price, around £2,754, after applying the Blue Light and PayPal discounts. On top of that, LG is offering an additional 10–15% cashback after purchase.
Which one would be the better buy for gaming and movies?
I’m in a dilemma: should I go for the bigger 83-inch C6 or the 77-inch G6 with the better panel?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
