Excavator or backhoe eastern pei
So my neighbor is in need of someone with a backhoe or a mini ex to dig a hole for a horse that has passed away last night. We have called 3 company's out this way and left messages being the weekend it may be harder to track someone down. Hopefully you guys have some names of people we could call
Thanks

Good luck getting responses from any company on the Island. Unless they think there's a huge payout for them they won't respond. We had a similar request two years ago. We ended up getting a local farmer thst happened to be renting a backhoe and he came over, but the companies never responded.

owning and operating equipment is expensive, why wouldn't they want to be properly compensated?

So charge what you fucking want? But answer the emails and calls. I don't care if you want to charge 75,000 to dig a hole, but do me the fucking courtesy of answering me when I ask.
Why is that so hard to understand?
Editing the frustration from a very bad morning.
If every contractor only wants the large, highly profitable jobs, who's supposed to handle the smaller ones? Are we just supposed to let our homes fall apart because the work we need done isn't worth someone's time? I'm perfectly willing to pay a fair price for professional work. I'm not looking for a handout or expecting anyone to operate at a loss. But I can't even get someone to come look at the problem, let alone give me a reasonable quote. And if you don't want the job, that's fine. Tell me. A simple "Sorry, we're not taking on jobs of that size" takes almost no effort and at least allows me to move on. But being ignored by company after company for three months while a problem with my home remains unresolved is beyond frustrating.
Funny thing is, when I did finally find a small business with 1 employee, he charged me 4600 or so and I paid him 5000 for doing the job. It took him probably 3 times as long and it wasn't perfect, but he did it. And he will be my go to for the foreseeable future.

If these comments are any indication of your overall demeanor I can see why you have trouble getting callbacks, especially if you were expecting someone to come give an in-person quote to dig a little hole in 2024 (the busiest period in PEI construction ever).

The "overall demeanor" is from constantly having to deal with this here. I can call someone in Europe and, assuming the government doesn't do it for me, they are there. Call them, get an answer right away.
If what I said, somehow offends you, then you're the problem.
"Digging a little hole". Yeah, my bad, my fault the tree fucked my foundation. Sorry, I'll do better next time.
