I built a budgeting app around one picture: a monthly Sankey of where the money goes

Post image
2 Upvotes

Disclosure: I'm the developer.

I used to export my bank statements to a spreadsheet and draw a Sankey by hand each month, because no budgeting app showed me the flow from income to every category. So I built one around that picture.

What it does: Upload a bank statement (PDF) and each transaction is sorted into a category automatically. No bank login or account linking.

Each month becomes a Sankey: income on the left, categories and items on the right. Optionally, last month's leftover flows in as carryover and what remains becomes your account balance (the image above).

Transactions list where you can recategorise any single payment

Spending views (trends, monthly, daily, breakdown) and budgets, with suggested amounts based on your past months

Range view: 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at once

English, Spanish and German

Pricing: free tier; Pro is $6.99/month. New accounts get 30 days of Pro, no card needed.

https://clearcashapp.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=pftools

I'd really value feedback from people who already track their spending: what's missing, what's confusing, and whether the Sankey view is actually useful month to month.

Finance app suggestion

People what do you use for tracking all your investments and expense at one place.

I use bank apps, 1% club but it's not that convenient. Plus there's always something/other that's breaking.

What do you use!

My first ever app - Gecko Budget for offline automatic expense tracking for those that hates manual adding

Post image
1 Upvotes

Yes, yet another budgeting app, but mine have a different spin.

It's fully offline (verifiable, no internet permission) and uses any app notifications as the source of transactions.

Then you set up your budget to get notified if you spent too much. Simple and effective. You set up once and it works for you in the background.

And it's not AI generated. I've worked on it for 2 years in my spare time after a normal software developer job.

It's free and without ads. Check it out here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.geckobudget

PS. There is no ios version because it has many limitations and notifications access is not possible at all.

Reddit's own FIRE Calculator

Hi everyone,

I have created the first of its kind on Reddit "Perpetual FIRE Calculator". Please try it out and let me know what you think.

https://www.reddit.com/r/fire_calculator_dev/s/8MoudFpdbz

FIRE stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early.

Based on your current savings and monthly spending, this app calculates exactly when your savings yield intercepts your inflation-adjusted spending to support your lifestyle perpetually.

Features that make it different from other FIRE calculators:

- No need to guess your FIRE number.

- No need to guess your maximum age.

- Select any field as the target result, enter other values and the result field updates live.

- Sliders and live updating result instead of text forms and submit button.

A Google Sheets budgeting system for people who quit apps: planned vs actual, 10-min weekly check-in, no subscription

I make and sell this, so you know where I'm coming from. Disclosure:
If you’ve used budgeting apps or spreadsheets and given up because it felt like a second job, this one is for you. Or if you open your banking app near the end of the month with a knot in your stomach, even if nothing "bad" happened and you can't put your finger on where it all went.
That feeling usually has nothing to do with your income. It’s about not seeing the big picture.
Smart Budgeting is a system in Google Sheets that centers around that one problem:

One place to see it all, what's incoming, what's outgoing, what's left so you don't have to do the math in your head Planned vs actual for every category you see where the gap is between what you expected and what happened which is usually where the leak is A weekly 10-minute check-in: a quick review of your week financially and emotionally instead of tracking every transaction every day. Monthly bills, debt payments, money you’re putting aside. Each have their own place so nothing gets missed

How your data is handled The sheet is stored in your own Google Drive. I don’t have it with me. No bank linking, no login, no subscription.
If it doesn't work: 7-day money back. If you don't walk away feeling clearer and calmer about your money you message me and I refund you, no questions asked.
Bonus: Comes with a short free guide on how to set it up and get started.
One-time fee of $9.95

Happy to answer questions about what’s inside.

I built a free FIRE + Coast FIRE calculator that compares 3 withdrawal strategies (no signup)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recognised that most FIRE calculators give you one number based on the 4% rule and stop there. I wanted to see how much the target changes depending on what you plan to do with the money once you stop working, so I built one.

TRY IT HERE for free: https://planfolio.io/tools/
There is a FIRE and a COAST-FIRE version.
No signup, no email.

3 withdrawal strategies to choose from:

  • Keep growing: classic safe withdrawal rate (4% by default, adjustable), you leave money behind
  • Preserve capital: withdraw only the real growth, the portfolio keeps its buying power forever
  • Spend down: the portfolio runs out exactly at an age you choose (needs the smallest target)

I'd like to hear your feedback
Is this doing what you are looking for or is anything missing that would make you use it?

Looking for Mac friendly budgeting app that helps me pay off debt

I’m searching for a Mac friendly app that keeps track of my checking and savings, monthly bills and expenditures In order to create a budget and stay on track. I want to be able to enter credit card interest rate information into this app so it can tell me what payment to make on my credit cards or loans, in order to pay them off.

So far, I haven’t found one that does all that thinking for me.

Any recommendations?

A free tool I made to help make informed financial decisions by exposing the numbers.

pennycounter.ca

I was inspired to make this when trying to decide whether renting or buying a property was the right choice. As I started working through the numbers in a spreadsheet I realized it was fairly complex and I thought there should be something available online that doesn't require any math knowledge for people to make informed financial decisions.

An expense tracker that tracks spending by person, not just by category, looking for feedback

Hi, solo dev here, had this idea for own needs, and been using it for a couple of months now. The main idea is this.

Most of what I spend isn’t really on me. It goes on my parents, my kids and the house. Every app I tried could tell me I spent X on groceries, but not how much I spent on my mum's groceries this year, which was the thing I actually wanted to know. So it separates spending by person.

It’s called KinSpend. You log spending by typing it the way you’d say it, like “paid 3,500 for mum’s medicine from bank” or “kids school fees 12,000”. It works out the person, the category and the account, and shows them to you before anything is saved. If it gets something wrong you just reply with the fix, like “account cash”.

A few other things it does:

  • Voice: tap the mic and say “500 for petrol from my card”, or send a WhatsApp voice note. It understands mixed languages too; I switch between English and Urdu all the time
  • Receipts: send a photo or screenshot of a receipt and it reads the total, date and shop. You confirm before anything is saved, and the image itself isn’t stored
  • Loans: “lent 2,000 to Sam” goes on a separate list of who owes whom
  • Questions in plain language: “how much did I spend on my parents last month?”
  • Pay periods can be monthly, fortnightly or weekly, since not everyone gets paid once a month
  • Works in the web app and on WhatsApp, so you can log things from wherever you are

• Budgets against categories or generally for a month
• Loans given or taken

It doesn’t connect to your bank. Everything is entered by you. What you type, say or photograph is read by an AI model to understand it, and you can export or delete all your data at any time.

It’s free while I’m testing it. Web version: https://household-ledger-rho.vercel.app/ (Android is in closed testing).

What I’d really like to know: does tracking by person make sense to anyone else, or is it just me? And what would stop you from using something like this? Comments are welcome, i am trying to gauge if this idea resonates with anyone.

an app that shows what's actually safe to spend

I kept seeing $3k in my bank and going broke 2 days before payday because $2.8k was bills. Built a dumb simple app that just shows Safe to Spend = Bank - Bills - Buffer. Would this help anyone else?

I am building a private iPhone app that shows your net worth. Replaces my GSheet entirely. Try the web demo!

Hi all, I'm the developer. This is my second app. First app flunked, as first apps do... Here's a bit about what I'm building now:

WaffleWealth is a net worth projection app (a personal finance tool). You input what you have, what you earn and what you spend, and it draws your net worth month by month, from 1 month up to 10 years

It's not a budgeting app. There's no transaction list, no receipts and no bank login (it's in the plans, if all goes well). All you do is type in a few balances and some monthly totals, and you get a net worth line

The part I focused on most right now is privacy. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no server, no analytics and no ads (it's free!). The only network request is an exchange-rate fetch (optional), which is off until you turn it on, and it only sends a currency code, not what's on your account

The iPhone app isn't out yet (awaiting second review), but there's a working demo in the browser. Nothing you type there is stored or sent anywhere either: https://pinkhummingbird.github.io/wafflewealth-app/try/

Would really love your input. What works, what doesn't, or if it's completely unnecessary garbage. What features you'd want to see. Thank you!!

[ This is a personal finance tool and completely free so please don't ban me. Also not soliciting services or business, just looking for feedback / comments ]

I built Moneytor — Financial tracking for the chronically lazy

Thumbnail
play.google.com
8 Upvotes

Moneytor is a minimalist, offline-first expense tracker built around one idea: type a line, in whatever language you think in, and it just works.

No dropdowns. No category pickers. No forms. No AI model. Just a text field that understands English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Spanish, French, and Arabic — mixed freely, in the same sentence, with no language picker anywhere.

WHAT YOU CAN TYPE
• "coffee 45" logs an expense instantly
• "udhar ravi 300" tracks a debt, with an automatic reminder
• "gasté 45 en café" — same parser, different language
• "salary 50000" logs income
• "-call the bank" — a quick task, no price needed
• "dominos: pizza 250, coke 100" — an itemized bill
• "hdfc savings 57000" tracks a net worth item

The parser is deterministic, local code — no model, no API call, no surprises. The same input always gives the same result, and it runs in microseconds, entirely on your device.

EVERYTHING BUILT ON ONE INPUT
• Splits & debts — share an expense with people, track who owes what, settle in one tap
• Bills — itemized purchases with a per-item price breakdown
• Reminders & tasks — local notifications, nothing routed through a server
• Calendar & records — browse by day, filter by tag, person, or recurring pattern
• Wealth tracking — accounts, deposits, loans, credit cards, mutual funds, and insurance, with a running net worth
• Voice input — speak a line instead of typing it
• Auto-suggest — learns your own vocabulary and is typo-tolerant
• Custom keywords — teach it any word, in any language

PRIVACY BY ARCHITECTURE, NOT BY PROMISE
Moneytor has no account system, no sign-up, no analytics, and no telemetry. Your data is stored securely on your device and is not transmitted anywhere. Core functionality works identically in airplane mode.

YOUR DATA, ALWAYS YOURS
Export a complete, password-protected backup any time, or a plain CSV for spreadsheets. Moving phones? Export, then import — no account, no waiting, no lock-in.

Personal Finance Tracker - Help Needed - Beta Testers

App / website: BudgetBuilt — https://budgetbuilt.app/ (free during our private pilot - limit 25)

What it does: BudgetBuilt helps a household plan its month and understand where its money went. Shared bills stay in the household view, while each adult can track their own accounts, cards, and spending in a personal view.

At month end, it calculates where the household should be from its starting position and actual activity, then compares that with current balances. It helps explain differences before you close the month. If there’s a surplus, you can choose how to allocate that result between personal accounts. Other features include a monthly plan, transaction review, subscription tracking, and Net Worth. This uses secure Plaid for account connections.

Who it’s for: Couples who share expenses but also want personal accountability without mixing every purchase into the family budget.

Feedback I’d like: I’m trying to flatten the learning curve. After looking at the site, what do you think you’d do first? Which idea or screen needs a simpler explanation before you’d feel comfortable trying it? The system works quite well, but it may be a difficult ask for the user to understand it completely and actually use it in real life.

I will try to be very responsive to questions and hotfixes that come up.

I built the tool I wish I’d had when my entire financial life depended on my salary

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I was an employee, I struggled to connect the different things I was trying to do: manage my money, make career decisions, support my commitments and build something beyond my salary.

I could look at each separately. What I was missing was a way to see how they affected each other.

Could I afford to change jobs? Did I have the time and money to test another source of income? Was I making progress towards a goal, or just getting through another month?

That’s why I started building LearnCorporate about two and a half years ago. I’m the founder, so I want to be upfront about that.

Since 2016, I’ve been thinking about how changes in the economy and technology might reshape work and what that would mean for people whose plans depend on a regular payslip. I don’t think everyone needs to quit their job or start a business. I wanted a more practical way to prepare and make decisions.

This project means a lot to me. But caring about it isn’t enough it needs to be useful to someone who finishes work tired and doesn’t want another complicated system to maintain.

If you’re employed and trying to build more financial independence, where do you get stuck: knowing what to prioritise, finding room in your budget, or following through?

I build this incredibly simple app. It shows how much money you spent and where it went. Both in real-time.

It has genuinely changed my life. The month before I started using it I spent $14,743 and this month I’m on track for around $4,200

If anyone else would find it useful I’ll put it on the App Store for free!

PerkTrack for iPhone: keep card benefits and reset dates in one place

Hey folks, I build PerkTrack. Thanks to the mods for checking that this post was okay.

Card benefits can turn into a tiny calendar-management job. One resets monthly, another annually, and suddenly there are six things to remember.

PerkTrack brings the used amount, what's left and the next reset together for benefits on supported cards. You can add cards manually or connect supported accounts. It also has views for recurring charges and spending, but benefit tracking is the main thing I wanted to share here.

A useful distinction even if you stick with a spreadsheet: 'used' and 'statement credit posted' are separate things. Check enrollment, eligible purchases and posting times with your issuer. A tracker doesn't make a purchase eligible.

It's live on the U.S. App Store for iPhone (iOS 17+). Free download, with paid subscription plans. Automatic tracking requires a subscription, so check the current in-app price and included features before subscribing. If your spreadsheet already does the job, fair enough.

28-second demo, with actual app footage and made-up data:

https://www.summerjib.com/perk-app/start

App Store:

Does an app like this exist?

I have a career where there are several times per year that I make extra. I’m looking for an app that will allow me to plan those extra payments ahead to predict my Debt Payoff date. All of the other apps that I’m seeing allow me to predict the payoff date using a snowball or avalanche method, but only allow me to input an extra amount that is the same every month or to do so as they come. I’m looking for something that will allow me to input that ahead of time to allow for a more accurate prediction. Anyone use anything like this?

WealthYogi: Financial Health and FIRE App

Post image
0 Upvotes

How well are you doing financially ?

Your high net worth does not mean you're financially healthy !

I built WealthYogi for iOS and Android around this simple idea of Financial Health, like our physical health.

*Personal finance is not just about tracking Net worth and making it big enough. It is about doing it efficiently, It's about building better money habits and changing how we behave with money.*

The app is built around a simple loop:

*Track → Know → Control → Repeat*

*Track* Track your financial accounts globally, with support for 23 currencies, live FX rates, and 18 different account types.

*Know* WealthYogi uses 10+ personal-finance metrics to help you understand your financial health — not just your net worth. It highlights what needs attention and what you're already doing well.

*Control* Based on that guidance, you can set financial goals and track your progress. The idea is to turn financial insights into concrete actions and, over time, better habits.

*Repeat* Review your financial health, work on the areas that need attention, track your goals, and repeat.

The goal here is to help answer:

*Where am I financially? What should I focus on? And am I actually getting better?*

I'd really like people to try it and tell me honestly:

*Does this actually help you build right money habits and change how you manage your money?*

Feedback, criticism, and especially disagreement with the product idea are very welcome.

Please post your genuine feedback in the respective App/Play Store.

Ahead: affordable budgeting app that isn’t just another Excel template

Full disclosure, this is mine.

I got sick of money apps that cost a fortune, or sheets that fall apart when one number changes. Wanted a real month-by-month plan without babysitting formulas.

Ahead shows bills and paychecks by month in a fully editable sheet, where checking lands, read-only bank connect if you want, and “can I afford this?” scenarios on a copy of your plan.

Free trial on the site, then cheap on purpose ($3–$6/mo).

https://imahead.io

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Built a free tool to map out your debt-free date without downloading an app or linking a bank account

Hey everyone,

I’ve been tackling my own debt recently, and I wanted a clearer way to see the actual light at the end of the tunnel. Just staring at static balances can feel overwhelming, but visualizing how a payoff plan plays out makes the progress feel much more manageable.

That’s why I built DebtFree OS. It’s a clean, straightforward tool designed to help you map out your debt payoff timeline and experiment with how changing your monthly payments affects your timeline.

### Privacy & How It Works
* 100% Local Storage: Your financial entries stay strictly in your browser on your device. I don’t collect, view, or store any of your personal financial data on a server.
* The Catch: Because it lives locally in your browser, your data won’t automatically sync across different devices, and clearing your browser history/cache will erase your saved plan.
* Zero Friction: No account creation, no login walls, and no tracking.

👉 Try it out here: https://lively-praline-10fd88.netlify.app/#/ (Tip: Feel free to test it with made-up numbers just to play around with the charts and projections!)

### What I’d Love Feedback On:
I’m actively improving the site and would genuinely appreciate some honest eyes on it:
1. Was it intuitive and easy to understand your payoff timeline?
2. Was anything confusing, missing, or buggy?
3. Is this something you would actually find useful in your day-to-day budgeting?

Let me know what you think, and tear it apart if you find any bugs!

Tesorin 2.0 — the personal finance tool I shared here has grown quite a bit

I shared Tesorin here a few weeks ago, and since then it has moved into 2.0.

The original goal is still the same: bring everyday spending, budgets, debt, investments, net worth and longer-term planning into one place without requiring bank linking.

Since my last post, some of the bigger additions/improvements include:

  • much deeper investment tracking
  • retirement planning
  • category budgets and forecasting
  • receipt scanning
  • better expense capture
  • expanded web experience
  • a cleaner overall UI

I also finally made a short video that shows how the different parts connect instead of trying to explain everything through screenshots.

There’s now a free version, so the core experience can be used without subscribing.

I’m mainly interested in feedback from people who already use personal-finance tools: what still feels missing, overcomplicated, or unnecessary?
