Discussion Update on PSVR2
I looked at the Sony Playstation website for the PSVR2 and all I found were the controllers and the dock. Valve take notes. (Coughs in Index controllers)

$249.00. Paid $50 more when I purchased my new headset with controllers.

My right controller doesn’t charge on the dock anymore unless I actively press it down at a certain angle. Any ideas?

Try messing around with the little insert that goes in the charging port like swapping them out from each other maybe narrow down the problem a bit

Port may be dirty, you'd need a good magnifying kemse and tool to clean up the dirt from inside the port. Also check other cables, issue might be the dock.

Like the above say, take out the adapter and clean the contacts on every part. Dust and grime can cause a disconnect.

What dock did you buy, that SONY-endorsed POS? Me too — it looks pretty, but is bad.
I HIGHLY recommend that you ditch it and buy a cheap ($10-20) third party charger that includes a pedestal for the headset as well.
After hating the SONY one for half a year, I bought something no-name for $17 and it has worked like a charm for three years solid. I know it feels like throwing good money after bad, but I’m SOOOO happy I got something else.
[EDIT: I got downvoted for this comment? 😆]

They sell the controllers now because Apple made them compatible with the Vision Pro.

My left controller dies battery very quickly, even after charging on the dock. Really frustrating. Tried factory reset on the controller and everything

I don't think anyone has seen a manufacturing date later than August 2024.
I got lucky and just picked one up from Amazon (they had it in stock shipped/sold by Amazon a few weeks ago for a brief moment) and it had a manufacturing date of May 2024.
Not saying they're not going to make more, but it looks like they haven't been produced in at least two years now. And if they were releasing Christmas stock, they likely would've done it by now.

The dock is the worst thing they released

I love the dock

No issues with the controllers? I bought if few months ago, charged them once and they only showed 1 charge bar and never more until I followed some guide how to revert it and then found out it’s common issue with the charger

Never had a problem.

Some people don’t — that’s the nature of poor manufacturing, some work properly and some don’t. Many people have issues with the quality of this dock.
I had so many issues that I simply bought something else that was cheaper, worked correctly, and was better designed to include strong magnets, an LED charging indicator for each controller, and an HMD pedestal that gives you a place to put the damn thing.

Good for you, I switch between ps5 and psvr, and after first charge, it stucked on 1 charging bar. Then I found out the issue is pretty common. It’s looking good, but I returned mine after this experience

I bit the bullet and bought a Best Buy one as my unit finally crapped out all the way. I’m desperate for my flight simulators. Will send it in for repairs. If Sony sold the patents to meta, that means they’re out of this business of headsets yeah?

Is there any place I can buy a psvr2 new?

Best Buy appears to currently have them on their site in the US.

Unfortunately it’s a third party seller who has the price jacked though.

u/Jay_Magpie 2d ago
Whoa I didn’t realize Best Buy did that. Thanks for the heads up. Assumed prices were up since everything is up.

u/asemer117 2d ago
Yeah I saw that one earlier. I also saw that GameStop was selling them for $299 but they are sold out.

In NA basically everywhere is sold out, PS Direct included. Might be worth dropping by a store or two in person, though.
Hopefully SIE make more available, but it’s been over a month (maybe two?), so maybe not — hard to know. Europe still has them, so maybe you can have a friend from across the ocean gift you one? Emphasis on the word “gift”.

I saw last week Temu (marketplace) had some new available for ~$500 with Horizon Call of the Mountain included.
Aside from that, I think Walmart, Best Buy, and the Amazon marketplace also have sellers but even higher.

[EDIT: My following comment here misunderstood OP’s post. As I re-read it now, they incorrectly thought Sense Controllers were available from the PS Store. I thought the “update on PSVR2” they were talking about was about NA availability of PSVR2 itself.]
Yeah… it’s looking not great.
However, a YouTuber (who might be in a position to know) yesterday suggested that whilst they needed to be careful about how they put it, they hinted at some optimism that SONY haven’t actually abandoned PSVR2.
Grain of salt and all that, but I’m hoping they have real and current bts knowledge about the situation. They couldn’t be anything but vague about it, so… not exactly solid info, just something to tap the brakes with.

It wouldn’t be removed from their site if that was true it would just say sold out

So — yeah, as I said it does not look good, and as I also said, grain of salt... 🧂
LOL I got downvoted. 😆
—————
I figured I’d mention that someone who might actually have some inside info, did give the slightest suggestion (as recently as Friday) that maybe the current situation isn’t as dire as it understandably appears.
If they are indeed privy to something pertinent, then they are also under strict NDA’s that they wouldn’t want to violate.
Within the context of a YT discussion about the lack of new units in NA and the disappearance of the item on the PS Store, this person tiptoed around the topic and didn’t jump into it with what normally would be their natural perspective. That in itself was weird.
Then they specifically said that they had to be careful about how they framed their thoughts.
Now… if by some stupid stretch SIE has NOT fully abandoned PSVR2 (which sure is how it looks), then the timing of the NA-well-running-dry could not possibly have been worse; The recent info-drop about SteamFrame (price, availability, difficulty in buying) has led to a serious boost in sales for other headsets, and PSVR2 surely woukd have also benefited.
When this came up, this person DID pipe up — energetically noting that SIE have a long, established history of making terrible decisions when it comes to handling and promoting of both PSVR1 and PSVR2.
Reading between the lines there, I think there’s reason to tap the brakes on what it all means.
Whether SIE is fully DONE with PSVR2, or bizarrely blundering through a restocking challenge in some colossal way… either scenario is cause for head-shaking and eye-rolling.
As someone who sure hopes they haven’t completely given up on PSVR2 (despite all evidence that they HAVE), I am open to noticing when someone in the industry subtly hints that there’s more to the story.
Call it copium… call it nuance…
I felt it was worth at least touching upon, fwiw.
[EDIT: Upon re-reading OP’s post, I’m realizing that OP wasn’t updating on the availability of PSVR2 itself, but rather they incorrectly thought Sense controllers were now available from the PS Store, so all the stuff I’m talking about isn’t really relevant to that misunderstanding. 🤪]

That's only the charging dock. They don't sell the sense controllers on direct. Can only get them new from apple
