It's been like this for a few years here in NZ. It sucks. Pepsi was so much more refreshing with KFC, it was the perfect combination and didn't leave you with dry lips or still feeling thirsty.

International KFC locations will still be using PepsiCo products I heard, it’s just US locations switching to coke. Did NZ have its own agreements?

u/Imaginary-Tension787 7h ago
Some kfcs outside the us switched to coke several years. Mexico , new zeland, germany and Indonesia to name a few

Agree with you about KFC but PepsiCo has been losing big customers lately like Marriott recently? What is wrong?

Upper management and new ceos killing the company with horrible decisions.

That’s not the reason, these big names in beverages are purely marketing and branding. Pepsi is not retaining existing establishment partnerships because of competition. Pepsi is not being aggressive as others in the industry to market themselves to establishments.

Coming from an actual employee, it absolutely is upper management and the ceos pandering to their home countries and not paying attention or giving af about North America. They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

SPOT ON. As a retired Pepsi employee, Pepsi has been in the toilet since Inderi Nooye came on board talk about a “dei” hire

can i also include the chicken and food items not being cooked well?
i know KFC is not a 5 star luxury joint, but they can at least have some respect and cook things better than they are now..... the finished product coming out can be bad overcooked not crispy like it should.... doesn't taste right.
also sometimes they give you thighs and not breasts when you requested breasts. a lot.

I was just speaking on pepsis side of things.

Don’t forget Costco. Only major one picked up was Subway, and a good chunk of them have already closed. Not sure when Jersey Mike’s contract is up, but I feel confident they’ll switch to Coke.

The whole “shrink flation” with their chip products started a sharp decline in sales. A few European grocery chains shrunk pepsi shelf space and pepsi has been in free-fall since

u/SpecialFXStickler 10h ago
The Lays bag of chips being 90% air has been around so long it can probably drive a car.
2
u/Mortis_XII Pepsi Twist 9h ago
True, but there is literally less product while the price increased (well outside inflation). I know they fired several people once consumers caught on, but they have been having trouble reclaiming shelf space since
1
u/SweetHomeMissouri 5h ago
if they keep lessening it i bet we could turn those bags into balloons and they would float....

I thought pizza hut, Taco Bell, and kfc were all owned by a pepsi. I guess I was wrong.

u/Commercial_Pianist97 1h ago
Im puzzled too, because isn't YumBrands Pepsico?

Yes, the brand has been sold off. Taco Bell and Pizza Hut have a 10 year contract left for Pepsi.

KFC is already circling the drain. HOWEVER this is a major F-UP but someone in senior management. CEO needs to be fired

u/Highheat1 4h ago
Whereas KFC is in slow decline in the usa, it is actually seeing growth outside the usa.

Good to know that people that mock the U.S.A. eat our garbage. Quite pleasing to know indeed.

We still have Dunkin' and Subway. I'm not crazy about either one but have been to both more recently than I have KFC.

Is it weird in the fall I like coke zero, around the holidays I like vanilla coke, in the winter I like regular coke, and the rest of the year I like pepsi

instead of making the food tastier and crispier and more filling.
they chose to switch to coca cola.

u/Necessary-Cow9770 5h ago

Literally going against your own company

u/berntout 11h ago edited 11h ago
PepsiCo has been out of the restaraunt game since the 90s.
Yum! Brands is an independent company completely unrelated to PepsiCo. PepsiCo has partnered on special items over the years as a supplier, but do not own YUM! Brands.

The one thing KFC had to set them apart from other chicken joints. Now they just have worse food and equivalent drinks. What's the draw to go their store anymore? I don't think the lack of Coke was why diners preferred the competition.
Coke won't make them a Sweet Lightning either. I always found it to be sickly sweet and syrupy, but in a full cup of ice it balanced out pretty well over time.
