Question Fish and Games Assn

• Upvotes

I’m having a hard time getting in contact with the people at ptbo fish and game association. I emailed them last week and their phone # is out of service. I applied to be a member last month and haven’t received an email that said I’ve been ACCEPTED per say but I’ve been receiving emails from them since (like mailing list) that include instructions on how to proceed and when orientation/classes are. Can any other member let me know if I can go attend orientation or if I should wait to receive another type of email?
They did already take the 400+ dollars out of my bank account for the membership. Also every month the order of classes goes rifles, then orientation, then hand guns. So can I attend the rifles class before orientation? Or would I have to wait another month? Just tired of waiting any info helps thank you. :)

Other Did someone steal your blue bag/ carry-on?

Sorry for not posting this sooner, or getting a picture. I've been biking over the pedestrian bridge by the U-Haul where George & Water St. split & there's been a big pile of "stuff" on the west side of the bridge all week. I *just* realized it's someone's stolen bag. There was a little fold-up scooter early in the week but that's gone now. Last time I biked by (yesterday) I noticed clothes, deodorant, medications, etc. I'm always in a hurry & thought someone else might post it but nope. Anyway, I know what it's like to have something stolen so if it's yours some of your stuff is still there as of yesterday. It looks like it was a small navy blue backpack or carry-on bag. Sorry this happened to you, & that I didn't post when I first saw it. I'm out of town now & finally had a spare moment to post.

Politics Municipal Candidates: our Public Library

As far as I know, no one's been talking about our Library, it's budget and maintaining services.

You will recall the public outcry when 'restructuring' was announced that would see the loss of 3 full time Librarians - both the Children's and Adult Librarians and the Librarian in the background who catalogues the collection - behind the scenes work that keeps the collection current. The Librarians that do all of the fantastic programming for our community.

I may be remembering wrong, but I believe that after the public protests & the contact Councillors campaign, these cuts were 'paused' but never cancelled. So to me, these budget cuts are still on the horizon.

I know not every candidate for election is here on Reddit, but seriously, I'd like these candidates to address our public and community service of the Library.

Where do they stand?

Event Vendor Recommendations!

My fiance and I plan to have our wedding in the Peterborough area late summer/early fall 2028. Although it's a bit of a ways away, I wanted to snoop around and see what vendor options there are as we are not from the area.

- We're hosting the wedding at a relative's place as they have a big outdoor space -

Specifically, I'm looking for budget friendly options within the hairstyling, photographer, catering (buffet style), tents, chairs and tables, decorative rentals (not florals but plates/cutlery, dinnerware things - I may also just thrift some things depending), lighting, and microphone and speaker rentals.

Any leads would be great!! Thank you guys :)

Politics Ashley Bonner Campaign

This post is simply informing those within Ashburnham and the City of Peterborough of something that is becoming more known post Electionfest and should be known to assist their voting if in Ashburnham Ward.

The campaign for Ashley Bonner is being supported and run by former mayor Diane Therrien. This should be great cause for concern given Diane's poor tenure as Mayor and the controversies around it.

Additionally, Ashley and her campaign have been deleting posts and blocking accounts who mention it on her social media.

What is there to hide? Is she ashamed of her support and who is running her campaign?

Deleting posts and blocking accounts for sharing known information is at the very least odd, if not concerning for a potential councilor. Will she silence her critics the same way if elected?

Hey r/Peterborough, I wanted to hop on to let you know about Peterborough Currents' latest project, the Peterborough Currents Election Special zines.

This pack of five FREE one-page zines explores five of the most important issues facing Peterborough this election season: homelessness, addictions, downtown vitality, democracy & council culture, and climate change.

It’s already been a chaotic election season, with a lot of candidates, a lot of chat, and a lot of bright-eyed sloganeering, but we wanted to go beyond the buzz, taking a hard look at the issues of the day. What’s the situation on the ground? What have our elected officials actually been doing… or not doing? And with Peterborough facing multiple crises and an uncertain path forward, how do we fix it?

We hope these zines will help you to better understand your city, sparking questions that you can ask to candidates on the campaign trail, and then keep asking them after they take office and over the next four years.

Pick up the Peterborough Currents Election Special zines today. All five are available as a bundle, for FREE from multiple locations in Peterborough:

  • Sadleir House
  • The Food Shop
  • Dreams of Beans
  • Take Cover Books

You can also download copies of the zines from our website.

Other Friendly reminder

Just a small reminder to be kind to fast food and service workers. A please and thank you go a long way. I've seen far too many people in this area being super unkind to people working behind food counters. Everyone is trying their best, I promise waiting 5mins for crazy bread isn't going to ruin your life.

Question Line Painting for Monaghan Rd. Cycling Lane

Does anyone know when they might be repainting the lines that delineate the cycling lanes on Monaghan Rd. between Lansdowne and Sherbrooke ? It's been a number of weeks since the pavement "microsurfacing" event and still no lines. Or is this just another Doug Ford overreach initiative to eliminate cycling lanes in Peterborough as well :)

News SIREG withdraws condo conversion appeal for Parkhill Place in Peterborough - thepeterboroughexaminer.com

I haven't made a post on Reddit so here it goes!

There was some interest last week about SIREG and the garbage situation at 700 Parkhill. On Oct 9th the city by law enforcement removed the garbage. I also got official notice that day that SIREG has withdrawn their appeal with the Ontario Land Tribunal regarding the condo conversion plan that the city denied. Overall it was a great day!

This is a great example of how the city staff, city council and tenants can come together. It's a huge win in my books!

As of yesterday, 700 Parkhill has a new property management group taking over, tenants have been notified in writing but also in person (which is awesome 🙌) and garbage is at this time being picked up.

Politics Ward -2 and Mayor -Vote

Looking at the options in Ward 2 I went ahead and voted for Matt and AJ, I like the door canvassing AJ did,..

Matt atleast is honest and open.

Of all Mayor candidates Neil Morton seemed a decent choice so I went with him, no disrespect to anyone else..

I just feel working/leading at University is different from dealing with City and City Staff

Recommendations Haircuts?!

Looking for a good place to get a haircut. Someone who specializes in curly hair, and can also tell me what would look good because I really am not sure what I even want in the first place. Someone who will cut hair of any gender too. Kindof looking for a gender neutral cut, mid length. Don’t mind paying a little extra for some professional advice. Thank you !
