For England. Not for Ireland, Scotland or Wales. They'll immediately start the process to rejoin the EU. Happy days ahead. You'll always have London, they'll pay the bills for the rest of the country.

Yeah eu won't accept you 🤣 Wales voted leave. Why would the EU want two tiny countries joining?

Typical British attitude. Just because you view them as tiny and worthless doesn't mean the rest of us do. And then you wonder why they want to leave you. You're like the abusive partner "Yeah, leave. See if I care. No-one else will have you!"

I'm sure the EU will love two more net drains on there budget

Especially as leaving the UK will cripple those countries

We aren’t exactly a roaring success when England pays the bills now are we? What do you think England puts up with this and the EU won’t. We will be like Ireland and actually making our own money instead of relying on Englands charity.

Ireland, the tax Haven for big companies I don’t think that model will help you in the long run

It helps Ireland.

It also isn’t something you can bases an economy on as you cannot guarantee businesses actually coming and other countries stopping loopholes

Also end of the day, you’re not really helping your own people doing that

Ireland has a currency and a decent existing economy, neither Scotland nor Wales would have even a tenth of the income Ireland does to be able to give those tax incentives.

Rubbish, all business income in Wales is counted as originating as coming from England. Wales has a greater GDP than many smaller nations of Europe.

2

Wales GDP sits at 92% of the smaller countries average in the EU. What are you talking about? It's also massively subsidised.

1

Wales has a higher total nominal GDP than roughly 8 to 14 independent EU member states (including smaller nations such as Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Malta, and Luxembourg).

What are you talking about?

You just explained precisely why the EU doesn’t need more draining countries.

They lost the paying part of the uk and want the subsidised parts of it?

Amazing call, take down the EU with crippling dependence on Germany and France to sort you out instead 😂

Because there's benefits to keeping the Union together, together stronger right. Why do you think the eu would want to pay your bills lol

1

u/PositiveLibrary7032 Sep 15 '26

No there isn’t. And I’ll vote for it to end when this referendum comes.

Fair enough, not sure where the 15 billion black hole is going to be filled mind. Or the fact it could take a decade to rejoin the eu

2

u/PositiveLibrary7032 Sep 15 '26

London is almost 1 1/2 trillion pounds in debt a 15 million black hole is nothing compared to that sum and the international banks lend money. More Scotland will have all the lives necessary as an independent nation to thrive.

1

u/Top-Strength-2701 Sep 15 '26

Right, but the UK is in three trillion debt. You think Scotland or Wales won't have to pay any of that back? Let's say a fair share is ten percent, that's 300billion. Not to mention england has been paying Scotland and Wales more than they make in tax for decades, why doesn't england call that debt in also.

u/PositiveLibrary7032 Sep 15 '26

The UK will no longer exist and all debts were raised in London. The rest of us have no financial controls to raise or not raise these debts. You can keep the pound and all the debts.

Haha yeah this fantasy does sound appealing, however the reality won't look anything like it. Why would england let Wales and Scotland off the hook for money owed? If they don't pay then england could just cancel all funds to those countries, whose going to pay for your pension and nhs? Why wouldn't england just pull all their nhs workers to england? England could wack on a hard border, good luck getting goods intothosefCountries with extra boarder checks. It would destroy trade like brexit did for the UK

I did with Ireland. We will send you two quid.

I can never quite understand this. Want out of the UK as they 'have no voice/say', see no value of being part of a greater whole.....but then want to join the EU.

A more practical approach would be pushing the whole UK to rejoin the EU over independence from the uk?

2

u/PositiveLibrary7032 Sep 15 '26

The EU member states are equal members that UK doesn’t have equal members.

1

u/Mission_Pizza9672 Sep 15 '26

Having seen the issues in the US (and also the difficulties the EU has faced in supporting Ukraine), I think a proportional representation is actually fairer.

Bit I can see the appeal, and would give smaller nations the ability to leveridge for greater benifits.

That’s something we just don’t get in the UK, Westminster of dismissive Scots, Northern Irish and Welsh people
