Managing a waffle house is the worst existence imaginable to me certainly. That work is back breakingly difficult and you deal with a lot of shit. Working in food service sucks, managing in food service sucks worse because you get an ounce more pay and a pound more bullshit.
Not really. As someone who spent the first ten years of my career working at restaurants, and still thinks about going back for the better pay, they are right. Unless your calling is to cook or bartender, almost everyone working at a restaurant is there because of life circumstances. Its hard, grueling work. There's also only a limited amount of promotion available. And waffle house is even harder, because the open kitchen means you are expected to perform in front of others as well. And I don't mean that they are giving a show, i mean that they are being watched by the customer so they have to move, they have to be always "on". I love going to WH, but i also know I would HATE working at one of them. You have to be tough, have endurance, and have a strong will of mind to work there.

Waffle House catching strays. I have mad respect for WH employees - they work super hard and do a great job of getting shit done.
