In 2016, after the second Clinton-Trump debate, a co-worker literally said to me, "I don't like that she had an answer for everything."
I responded, "Isn't it good that she has experience, she's cared enough to prepare?"
"I didn't like it."
I stopped listening to talk radio by this stage but it was hugely influential back then. Looking back, I'm convinced Fox News or WOWO (Indiana AM radio) put this idea in my co-worker's head.
I heard about a reenactment of their debate where they actually had the malr person pretending to be Hillary and the woman being Donald and they reenacted exact things that were said and everyone ended up hating the male. There's just something inherently unlikable about Hillary's delivery or word choice such that no one was going to vote for her who wasn't going to vote for her anyway.

Remember, this worked on Hillary Clinton. Voters found it offputting that she was "overprepared"!
