It wasn't politically smart to say that during her campaign IMO, I think even Bill allegedly said something to her about it, but she was nevertheless dead-nuts correct. Only thing I quibble with her over is the percentages.

It is, but mostly because they like their labels short and dumb.
'The solution to pollution is dilution!' is pushing it - woah down there smarty pants - even though it was coined by one of "their guys".
If it's not as simple and catchy like 'flip flop' or 'med bed' you're virtue signaling as "other".
That's not their team. That's 'not like us". They don't side with "other". Ever.

Because tho only job of the oligarch controlled media is "Manufacturing Consent."Ā Ā

So many of us found her relatable. For every 100 people that called her "elitist", there were at least a handful of us that watched her, the educated, sharp as a razor political operative, being stuck in the same hell we were, only broadcast on live TV.
And I'm not even a woman. It's only because of empathy that I have the barest inkling of this being the lived daily experience of pretty much every intelligent woman in the USA.
But then we have had this archetype since the tale of Cassandra.

The sentiment and the statement was correct and the issue was that no one ever listened to the whole quote:
ā
But the "other" basketĀ ā the other basketĀ ā and I know because I look at this crowd I see friends from all over America here: I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas andĀ ā as well as, you know, New York and CaliforniaĀ ā but that "other" basket of people are people who feel the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures; and they're just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says, but ā he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.ā3
u/Imaginary-List-972 2h ago
I never buy that reasoning. She was talking about Maga, Trump supporters. They're voting for Trump no matter what. "I'm a Maga Trump supporter, but I was going to vote for Hlllary until she said that". And she said that about the racist/sexist/homophobic section of Trump supporters. So "She said racism is bad, so I'm not voting for her". So you gotta act like you're for racism to get the racist vote and act like you are against racism to get the non racist vote. I always love that she said SOME trump supporters are racist and we call them deplorables, and they said "Hey she just called me deplorable". But again I don't buy "they were racist trump supporters but they would have voted for her until she said that about them". If so, why don't we now get "Trump called them Dumbocrats, they would have voted for his maga candidates until he called Dems dumb".
2
u/WhompBiscuits 40m ago
Yep. Because if you were Maga then and heard what she said and immediately identified with the latter part of what she said, then you're guilty of it.
And it's not like she didn't know what she was talking about. Although she is originally from the Chicago area, she lived in Arkansas for a large portion of her adult life. She saw more than enough.
14
u/AskPizza 5h ago
She knew because they had been turning their ire at her all her career, ever since she suggested universal single payer healthcare until Bill Clinton, which never got implemented.
But the far right lost their shit and invented lies about her ad infinitum ever since.
Because she wanted people to not die from treatable ailments nor go bankrupt, and all it would have cost was people like Elon musk a few fewer billions than he has, which are already too many billions to ever need.
She knew because they went after her before they went after the rest of us.
But she was never wrong about them. She was right to call them out, but not enough of us had her back on that.

The Clintons know how corruption works. They know how to keep their noses relatively clean while reaping benefits. They've been doing this for 40 plus years.

No there was a bunch of people still mad about Benghazi. Also at the time there was a lot of talk about what was going on behind the scenes and why everyone near the Clinton's were just randomly dying. Let's also not forget that Bernie was the more favorable option for most people and then she and the entire democrat part cut him off at the knees and forced him out.
1
u/Ok_Pop_3285 1h ago
Yes so we have trmp and facing the end of our country bc we stopped funding education and our people use only 15% of their brain that mother nature gave them . They have a canned ham minus the key attached.
1
u/Kaliking247 1h ago
We have him because the dems decided to shoot themselves in the foot. He never should have made it to office. When he won the first time literally everyone around him was coming out and saying him running was essentially a publicity stunt and nobody expected him to win. The dems ran Hilary against a person who didn't expect to win and lost. That is the state of the democratic party right now. McCain and Obama were the last two politicians with their ish together.
1
u/Double_Philosophy_42 1h ago
They did the same to Bernie in 2020. Look at how many candidates that had no chance to win stay in and drop out after Super Tuesday to dilute the delegates so it looked like Biden had a majority. And funny how so many of them became Bidens cabinet.

1
u/Kaliking247 12m ago
Brother what are you talking about? He's literally on camera saying that if he endorsed Hilary he was forced to. There's nobody mad him for not stopping something he couldn't, terrible sarcasm btw. Hilary lost because the entire party back her instead of backing him. Obama literally won off of the vote of the younger voters, the people who didn't vote for her. The actual voting data says the exact same people that help Obama win voted for her significantly less. If you look at the numbers for kamala you can see that she couldn't even get the people that Biden had. Every time the the whole system has moved to back a single person there core base doesn't show up at the polls. Because if you tell people their vote doesn't matter then they don't vote

And unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people Ā ā Ā now have 11 Ā million. I know I'm getting downvoted for this
Why are we pathetically nostalgic for the single most damaging campaign to the DNC ever, even more than 2024? They had to back pivot to Biden to barely take the presidency back. Its this groveling for a "we didn't win this one but we should of" past that really brings home how screwed we are. You guys do realize this popularized party in-fighting to the point that people had to say vote blue no matter who to essentially beg people to vote them in? This is not how people win political campaigns. Republicans do not have this problem, and they vote in lockstep....even considering how bad is Trump is polling. In the end this is just a picture of a war criminal you're using to karma farm op

I think this was one of the turning points where the left started to truly lose the working class because Hillary was saying openly what a lot of democrats believe. It's not just that they think they're right and the other side is wrong, it's that they think they are morally superior to the other side and that gives them license to insult, demean and denigrate anyone who disagrees with them even a little bit.
