When you see a post about cis men assaulting and raping cis women, the reaction should be SUPPORTING and UPLIFTING the victims/survivors of the situation. Trans women are not the victims of THIS situation, cis women are.
But youâre not even making it about trans women being victims, youâre saying âHA! See! Cis men are raping cis women, not trans women!!â which is an awful thing to turn this into.
Donât turn the conversation about cis women being raped by cis men into a conversation about how trans women are victims of social propaganda?? Wtf
I say this as a trans person who is fully aware of the violence trans women face. Itâs just not about us here and itâs selfish. Misogyny affects everyone.
All the fear mongering against trans women is that its suppsedly going to give cis men an in to do this stuff, but this keeps happening. They don't need an in. Everything is an in. And this post is about cis men raping and killing people, of course trans people should get a seat at the table. They are statistically even more likely to be harmed by cis men than cis women are and should absolutely be considered here too.
Edit to add: Cis women are going to get the majority of this kind of news written about them because there are more of them and society generally has deeper feelings about this kind of violence happening to them. Because of this, its absolutely necessary to make sure trans people are remembered in these discussions, much in the same way that it's necessary to make sure trans people are included in discussions about health care.
The first part is a good point.
I just think the conversation should be about supporting victims, not playing a game of whoâs the real attacker. At the least, if youâre going to say âsee? Cis men are violent, not trans womenâ at least have the heart to address the women who were harmed and uplift them.
Also, I just want to say, I think you and the other commenter are assuming the person we are responding under is a trans person trying to center herself, but we can't assume that's the case here, especially considering her profile and history gives no indication of being trans, so I don't think this is a case of whataboitism.
