Why can I never find any slots to write my Leaner's License in centurion?!?
Hi. I moved here around march and have been trying to get a slot to write my learner's license on and off for my entire time here. I don't know what's happening! You would eventually think that one out of the 50+ times I logged into the portal and checked the slots, that I'd get at least one, but apparently not.
I would like to get it before being back home for X-mas. If anyone has any tips for getting a slot or at least knows why this has been the case, please say in the comments.
Thank you in advance and enjoy the rest of your weeks!

Please help me identify this murder-sounding bird
Dear Pretoria readers,
I was in Garsfontein this past week and there is a bird with a call similar to that of a child being murdered or a cat having its tail stepped on. It's very unique.
I originally thought it may be hawk or kestrel family, but I finally had a look at it today and its surprisingly small, greyish in color, and the most similar looking bird I have seen is a kookabura. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it, but I've Googled without luck and am sure it's not:
- Arrow-marked Babbler
- Hadeda (obviously)
- Myna
- Kwêvoël
- Trumpeter Hornbill
- Spookvoël
I also can't see relation to hawks or kestrels.
I'm sorry that I don't have more info, but if anyone can help me identify this I would be forever grateful! Not knowing is driving me nuts.

A Wellness Experience in Pretoria
instagram.comHey ladies! I wanted to share this lovely wellness experience happening in Pretoria this weekend.
If you've been looking for something relaxing to do, a chance to unwind, or just some time to focus on yourself, this might be for you.
Yoga in the Garden with Maia is happening at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden. The session includes a gentle yoga flow and journaling, all surrounded by nature.
Date: Saturday, 17 October 2026
Time: 09:30–10:30
Venue: Pretoria National Botanical Garden
The best part is that all levels are welcome, so you don't need any yoga experience to join. This event is exclusively for women. Just bring your yoga mat, water, journal and pen as well as comfortable clothes.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, you can book your ticket through Quicket using the event link.
Hope to see some of you there!

Could you please take my survey about air quality in Pretoria?
Hi everyone! I'm a student and I’m doing a school project about environmental quality, especially air quality in Pretoria, and I’d really appreciate your help.
I chose this topic because I have asthma, so air quality is something that affects me personally. I also have a friend who’s an athlete, which got me thinking about how the environment might affect people who exercise and spend time outdoors.
I’ve made a survey to learn more about people’s experiences and views. If you have a few minutes to answer it, your responses would really help me understand the issue better. Thanks so much!
