Discussion/Tips & Tricks What problematic brands are you changing to new brands after panning?

I’m trying to be a more conscious consumer especially with project pan. I have a LOT of problematic brands in my collection right now, either in Epstein files, anti-Palestine or brands like elf. What’s a product you are panning now that you will not purchase again because of the brand, and what’s a product you’ll replace it with? I’m also trying to pick more cruelty free products aka get rid of L’Oreal!

Posted yesterday I needed to toss a bunch of lippies because I contracted strep, here's the full casualty list.

I feel genuine grief over that Rituel De Fille lip oil.

Discussion/Tips & Tricks Need help with an alternate use for hair products

I have a hair oil and a leave-in conditioner/primer that I haven't been using because they both really weigh down my hair and make it look greasy after a couple hours. I've been using them as "hair masks," but was curious if anyone had any other suggestions on alternate uses so I can pn them!

Discussion/Tips & Tricks Has anyone else started to apply project pan to other areas in their life?

Project pan was truly the kick to begin changing my overconsumption habits. I noticed I've been trying to apply this mindset in other areas in my life. Shopping and using up my kitchen pantry first, and the reward I feel is similar to the joy I feel in panning my makeup where I'm learning and exploring a lot more dipping into all my makeup shades that have been sitting there. It's been fun to think about how to use all the kitchen ingredients creatively and discover love for food ingredients that can become staples and ones to skip.

I noticed this mindset even in digital goods like video games. I always bought digital games whenever they went on sale thinking I'd get around to it eventually but now I've put a soft ban on buying anymore until I finish playing what's in my backlog first. I noticed personally it's particularly easy to hoard digitally because I don't see the clutter firsthand so this rule has helped skip urges.

I really enjoy having this mindset now because I see easily how pre project pan overconsumption habits has been in literally every area in my life.

Discussion/Tips & Tricks Eyeshadow as powder blush?

I've been using one color of eyeshadow that I am not going to ever use on my eyelids as a powder blush exclusively, and it feels like it works. What do you think about it?

Do you also do sth similar to this? Thanks!

Discussion/Tips & Tricks What did the OG make-up influencers do with all their products?

I just wonder sometimes.. people I watched growing up, like Zoella or Tati, they had boxes on boxes on boxes and always more PR coming in… it looked like so much fun back then but now I would see it as an incredible burden… I guess they just threw it all out eventually…! what are your thoughts?

I haven’t made a lot of progress on my stash haha, but I’m proud of my progress. Lately my skin has been freaking out (itchy & dry), so hopefully I’ll have a lot more moisturizers to full pan.

Hate Pan The Ordinary Squalene + Amino Acids lip balm

More often than not, it would leave a white residue on my lips, that I’d have to scrape away with my top teeth. Didn’t taste good to do either. This was an at home balm.

I also didn’t like how after a month, I had to cut it open and decant. I wish it had a more conventional container, like a tin/tub, or a tube I could use a tube roller on.

And I still peeled my lips daily. Would not repurchase.

I’ve been silently watching and jealous of everyone else’s pans! I am makeup hoarder and I barely even wear any. Started going through makeup and focusing on using up as much as possible. Here is my small progress!

  1. Vitamasques lip butter balm in caramel. Loved this, loved the smooth feel. I’m not sure if it made any difference in hydration, but the price is right and it’s a nice daily balm.

  2. Tower 28 lip oil in Pistachio. Very hyped, but I hated it. The smell went off quickly and it just felt greasy. I know oils are not meant to have a ton of staying power, so I was not the target audience. I unfortunately leaned into the hype and bought it.

  3. Naturium Phyto Glow lip balm in petal. This was perfect to me- gloopy and thick and lovely color. Getting out was a challenge but I’d just hold it in my bra and it warmed it up enough to use. Unfortunately I will never support anything from the brand again. Oh well! Onward and upward.

  4. Kylie Cosmetics Supple kiss lip glaze in Kylie. Lovely shade, but nothing wowing in terms of moisturize.

  5. ELF glow reviver in honey talks. Nice color, good price and nice plush feel.

  6. Jeffree Star cosmetics liquid lip balm in unicorn blood. I know, I know. It was a gift! This was fine, nothing special and I felt like a massive douche pulling out this massive balm. Glad it’s finished.

  1. Juvia’s place cleansing balm. Not a full pan, but mold started to grow so I discontinued. I don’t think they make it anymore, but nothing special. I am using makeup eraser wipes now which are much more eco friendly

  2. Derma E eczema relief cream. Nice daily moisturizer but will not repurchase because it’s too thick for my oily skin.

9. Beekman 1802 Milk drops. I don’t think I noticed any significant changes with this, but it felt nice.

  1. JVN air dry cream. I loved this for my fine curls, will continue to purchase

  2. Byoma milky toner. I bought into the hype and noticed no significant difference using this.

  3. Diane Dry Shampoo. I bought so much crap in Japan and this was one of many unnecessary purchases. This was fine but had a strange menthol scent that was very off putting.

Final thoughts: I’ve realized that I have an obsession with finding the “perfect” item which has led to so many doubles, triples, quadruples of things and endless urges to purchase more and more. I have so much stuff I can’t even go through it before it goes bad. I have way more lip products than shown and I’m feeling hopeful I can work through those and focus on using up instead of endlessly buying. I’ve also realized I buy into hype items instead of just focusing on buying sustainably what actually works for me. Looking forward to moving towards a balanced and less wasteful use of beauty products.
