I did at first but not once I realized writing something doesn't really mean it's been approved by the company that will be funding it. This confirms VIZ sees a decent enough profit in the franchise and has decided to set it in stone.
Let's just hope Volume 10 isn't forced to be a final volume and that they can stick to the initial plan!

They definitely want 3 volumes at the minimum for the Vacuo arc. 2 actually set in Vacuo, and the last is a wild card. For the last, we could be going back to Beacon or Salem's domain for all we know.

Tbf that was kind of an unofficial greenlight, it being released at all meant that Viz was serious about proceeding with the show. This confirmation just means the writing and budget have likely been approved and production can start in earnest now.

I was imagining either they greenlit volume 10, or they went back and remade the show entirely with better pacing and full length episodes for the earlier seasons (the less likely option unless they really wanted to change the general image/marketing of the show)

I don't think they'll ever remake the original seasons. They definitely would improve with the production value of the latter seasons, but a vocal part of the fanbase would see it as an affront to Monty

It honestly surprising, and impressive, how much RWBY survived through all the unfortunate obstacles that hits it. And lets pray RWBY don't get a surprise shot in the head with an abrupt cancel of the greenlit for whatever the reason may be.

All I can say is that I hope it’s profitable. I have no real expectations in terms of quality but if it’s profitable then the future of the series is much easier to see…whether that is a reboot, a spinoff, another video game, I don’t know. I’d rather see the actual concept of RWBY and its world continue outside of the main series itself at some point.

I'm really curious what the show will look like for volume 10. Viz does have the original assets so that pushes me to think it'll look the same as always, but I struggle to think what animation studio could pick it up as is.
With Viz' connections it wouldn't surprise me if a Japanese studio animates it and we get something more like Ice Queendom.
And depending on how confident Viz is I could even see them spinning up a small "RWBY Studios"

We knew they were working on drafts of V10 before, which is a big difference from being greenlit. At that stage, shows get canned for many reasons. Not enough confidence in the script, not enough audience demand, scope being too big for budget, etc. Being greenlit means that Viz has enough confidence in V10's success that they've approved a budget and CRWBY can begin on animation.

I am super curious what Studio will be animating it.
Will VIZ build one from the ground up? Probably not, and something pie in the sky like Fortiche isnt likely either.
Maybe Studio Giggex? Those Sonic videos they are doing have very similar feel, and they already worked with Casey Lee Williams. Viz invests in making a new studio from scratch? Wildbrain? (Ninjago) Blue Spirit? (Blue Eye Samurai)
Would be funny if it ended up being Studio Orange, Austin Hardwicke can never escape.

Back when it was announced Rooster Teeth was shutting down I was having a really bad day, in response I boycotted Warner Bros. A bit of an overreaction in hindsight, but whatever.
When VIZ picked up the IP I was happy, maybe RWBY could be saved. When it appeared on Crunchyroll I bought a subscription right away (damn, just checked, still gone).
I love this show, flaws and all. It got me through some tough times. Volume 9 was great, the ending was hopeful, the song The Edge made me tear up, made me believe with team RWBY back Remnant would be saved.
I can’t wait for the trailer. I can’t wait for volume 10.
