I think Tappei goes for a "death is pathetic" vibe, and pissing and shitting yourself is part of how he potrays that.

Note, not "death is pathetic" like "ha ha look at that guy dying. like a loser." But instead a "how horrifying is death that it brings the people you know so well this low, no matter who they are"

I think “death isn’t glamorous” is the description you’re searching for. Theres no glamour in death. Even if you face it head-on, on your feet, smiling… You’ll still shit and piss yourself at the end of the day.
