This is a video of a trip I made in 1978 to India. I was invited by a couple who paid for my traveling accommodations, Soaring Hawk and Kismet. Below are just a few of the many scenes we encountered during our time in India.

Yoga Looking for a flexible yoga teacher training course in Tapovan, Rishikesh
I work remotely from 12 pm to 9 pm and am planning to visit Rishikesh after Diwali in November. I’m a complete beginner and would love to learn yoga, ideally completing a basic certification course while I’m there.
I’m looking for a place in or around Tapovan where I can attend yoga classes in the morning and work my regular shift in the afternoon and evening. I’m also open to more intensive sessions over the weekends.
Most yoga teacher training programmes I’ve come across require full-day training and staying at the ashram, which obviously won’t work with my job.
Does anyone know of a yoga school, ashram, or teacher offering a more flexible schedule that would suit a beginner and allow me to get a basic certification without committing to a full-time residential programme?
Would really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences.

City discussion Hey traveller's
If you're visiting Rishikesh solo or with friends and planning to catch the Dussehra celebrations here, I’ve got you covered!
There are 2-3 main spots around town where the Ramlila and Ravan Dahan happen, and the vibe is usually pretty great. If you need help figuring out where to go, best timings, or local spots to check out, drop a comment below or DM me.
Happy to help fellow travelers enjoy the festival here! Have a great time in Rishikesh! 🙏

Travelling plan Urgent assistance needed with the travelling plan, please help!
Hello everyone, iam planning to visit rishikesh on 5th November 2026 with my girlfriend. I am thinking about travelling on a bike but the problem is - I don't have a driving license yet. lam 23 yo but i still do not have it.
lam from roorkee and rishikesh from here is iust ~50-55 Kms away. So, almost a 1.5 hrs drive at a decent speed.
The actual reason iam here is to ask whether i should drop the bike idea. Guys, we know bikes are fun. I can travel in bus too but i can explore more on a bike and stop wherever i want. I can also visit more places with it.
Bus will take me there directly - No chance i can explore places in between.
So i iust wanted to ask if i will be taking a big risk by going there on a Bike without a license
A|so, I want to ask whether there are strict police forces, multiple patrolling spots and all iam iust way too confused.
OR I will be able to go there and come back easily. I don't know anything about rishikesh yet. Before you suggest anvthing, remember that i will be comina from roorkee so that it'l be easy for you to be more precise.
Also please let me know if couples are allowed to travel there together (we're unmarried yet) Or is there anything i MUST KNOW BEFORE GOING THERE. Of course NO OBSENITY but still like sitting together on a ghat, holding hands is restricted.
Any help will be appreciated thanks.

Documentary/Video more than i expected, less than i can explain
September through October has been a real nightmare.
I was looking forward to going away and then, all of a sudden, came across a guy in the comment section. Twenty days afterwards we started planning a trip together. Crazy, isn't it? Some things really do occur with hardly any warning.
Go from Rishikesh to Chakrata and then back to Rishikesh. It's almost 3N4D spent on unfamiliar roads, having unexpected conversations, going on bike rides in the rain, sharing playlists, discussing our dreams, experiencing silences, and exchanging little bits of ourselves that we probably don't share with most people.
I had gone in hoping for intensive discussions and answers to many of the things I had been trying to get out of myself, but my mind was dealt a blow in ways I had not expected. Yet at some point I gave up on trying to understand everything and began instead to allow myself to experience it. Just to be present, absorb the atmosphere, and savor what was going on rather than always asking what it meant.
During those four days I considered many things. I made an effort to be attentive to the other person, leaving room for their silences and their emotions as I worked out my own feelings. We talked about our pain, the music we loved, our dreams, and those small moments which probably appear ordinary when you look back on them.
One of my most cherished memories is the decision to go to Sai Ghat in Rishikesh at 3 AM; it was an absolutely great experience. Sorry to the holy people, but we were drunk, lmao.
One of the most pleasant things was seeing someone have fun, even if it was only for a short time, without that usual sadness being over them. There are occasions when you care about somebody and hope you can do more, but you also come to realise that not every situation is something you can remedy. Sometimes all you can give is your presence, and that must be sufficient as long as not asked for more.
I found that I was coming to depend on someone in ways that I hadn't anticipated, and it's possible that they also relied on me in small ways. I believe that I had wanted this more than I realised — to have the feeling that the presence I was giving wasn't completely one-sided.
Two individuals, one aged 21 and the other 26, having known each other for only a few weeks, somehow managed to go on the trip together and then go back to their separate lives with a good deal more memories, a few more realisations, and some things to think about.
I believe that it isn't necessary for every experience to provide you with a definite answer in order to be worthwhile. In some cases, the experience itself is the answer. It may leave you with a better understanding of yourself, a bit more peace, and a memory that you'll be pleased you've made, no matter what happens afterwards.
Therefore consider this as a sign that you should draw up your plans and go somewhere, take the trip, and agree to have the experience; you truly never know what you might find, whom you might meet, or just how much a short period of time can end up meaning to you.
I am extremely fortunate that this has occurred and that I've been able to share it with such a great person! I hope that you too get to have an experience of the same kind that lingers with you. And D i look forward for more such moments lol.

City discussion Is it normal that monk ask you to hang out?
Yesterday, I started talking to a monk on the street in Tapovan. We exchanged a few sentences, and then he invited me for chai. I thought, why not
We ended up having a lot of abstract conversations about things you would ask a monk and even meditated a bit together. I felt an interesting but overall positive energy from him. He also mentioned that he does energy work, astrology readings and so on, but doesn't ask for money in return.
We exchanged WhatsApp numbers in case I'd like to meet again.
Today, he texted me and invited me for tea again to talk and meditate.
But now I'm wondering, is this normal? Does it happen often in Rishikesh that a monk randomly invites someone to for a tea? (I am a woman doing a yoga course here)
I'm not sure whether I should be open and meet up as I am so curious or be a little cautious about this haha. I saw some tourists (women) to be super happy to meet him on a street and hugged him so that gave me some reassurance that people know him here
