12 Bits 12 Seconds $25

I just got this in the mail today and wanted to share it. If you want to get some good grit into your samples on the cheap a lot of these old DJ mixers have 12 bit samplers built in. This PS-676 has an ultra low 7.28KHz sample rate. I had one many years ago and I’ve missed the immediacy of the looper and the crunch of the sampler. I still need to go through it and clean all the pots and switches but so far everything works and sounds like I expected.

My first love was a Gemini DS-8. 8 SECONDS!!

Mines too, was my 1st sampler. Loved how the bass comes out and it's grittyness. Second, was Roland MS-1 which felt like an upgrade.

Holy shit same here! MS1 with no timestretching. You had to beatmatch loops looool

Yeah, I learned to speed up records and play them on Long just to get it right. I never found the flashcards until years later on eBay and a lot cheaper than in the 90's.

I got the cards and they were useless. You couldn't easily transfer to/from them. They were just a storage iirc

The only use I had for the card was recording vocals to one pad and playing the other 3 with the internal memory. SPs fixed this problem, you have hours of sampling.

I wanted an MS1 but my local music store had a Yamaha SU10 so I bought that instead.

On the PT01? Yeah I upgraded the fader with a Jesse Dean and it’s so much better, the tonearm and Ortofon help a lot too. The fader on the mixer feels like somebody lubed it with a Snickers bar.

Giving me ptsd as I remember trying to scratch with that fader. Edit oh I see you have a special fader on yours, my ptsd was for the stock one

I used to have this mixer, never used the sampler much though
