So I'm watching Scream 5 for the 180th time and I'm missing Sam and Tara! They brought a fresh new vibe to the franchise. BRING THEM BACK!!!!!

Sadly only way I see them coming back is if Spyglass sells the rights 💔. Which, with how well 7 did $ wise.. no time soon.

Yeah same.. she obviously still loves the franchise and acting as Sam, just everything that happened was really unfortunate.

I actually don’t. I wasn’t impressed by their performances in 5—especially Melissa’s and the actress who played Mindy—or by the direction Radio Silence was taking the franchise.
I somehow enjoyed 6 more and didn’t mind Sam/Melissa, but Jenna’s performance and the portrayal of Mindy appealed to me even less. They just did nothing for me.
By that point, though, I’d gotten used to them and wouldn’t have minded another movie with that cast. Still, I was honestly glad to have Sidney back in 7. Neve nailed it, as always, but the story didn’t impress me either. By then, I was so tired of Busick’s writing. To me, he’d ruined the franchise.
Even after 7, I would’ve been open to another movie with Melissa. But then she made comments about the cast of 7 that I found rude and questionable, and it started to feel like she saw herself as the center of the franchise. Which she never was.

Honestly I before 7 came out I was hoping Mindy would be ghostface. There hasn’t been a returning character as ghostface yet.
Her whole vibe was wanting to be the “expert”, yet she missed the final showdown in both 5 & 6.
Made a huge point of trying to identify ghostface early, but missed the mark in 5 and only got Ethan in 6 after most of the other suspects were eliminated.
Had a t-shirt that said “strong femme lead” yet was always a supporting character, even while her not horror-obsessed brother got upgraded to romantic lead.
The idea my friends and I discussed was that she would have orchestrated 1 or 2 seemingly irrelevant ghostfaces that she would be the only one to identify as suspects (we literally brought up a random guy in a coffee shop she could point out that other characters ignored, so funny that “kinda” happened), planning to kill and unmask them herself in the final act. But something holds her up and she doesn’t make it in time before Sam/Tara/Chad kill them.
Then, when everything seems settled and safe and the “core 4” are alone again, one of them connects the dots kicking off the actual final act.

I’m conflicted because on one hand, I really loved Sam and Tara and miss them. On the other hand, I grew up with Sidney and was so glad to see her take the spotlight again in Scream 7.
I’m just really thankful we got Scream 5 and 6, and never say never. If Neve Campbell can keep coming back to the franchise 30 years later, we could see Sam and Tara again.

Yes, but the difference is that Neve was never fired, she stepped away because of a salary dispute. But I agree, I hope that we'll see Tara and Sam again.

That’s true, but even if Neve was in Scream 6, it would have been a smaller role just like in Scream 5. I liked seeing her actually be a main character again. And that’s why I’m conflicted.
When Scream 6 first came out, I thought it would be really awesome to see a Scream 7 that wrapped up the Core Four trilogy and then a Scream 8 that brought it back to Sidney.
So, I’m both thankful I got the Sidney sequel I wanted but also sad Sam and Tara didn’t get to finish their trilogy. So yeah, let’s have hope they will one day ❤️

Neither was Melissa. She was contracted for two movies and then her contract was not renewed for 7.

Then that's an update that I missed. Every article I've read indicates that she was indeed fired.....so

From Melissa herself during an interview with Collider:
“I feel like the ending of [ Scream VI ] was a very good ending, and so I don’t feel like 'Ugh, I got left in the middle.' No, I think people, the fans, were wanting a third movie to continue that arc, and apparently, the plan was a trilogy, even though I was only contracted for two movies. So, I did my two movies, and I’m fine. I’m good with that.”
"So yeah, I feel good. I did what I set out to do. It was always meant to be two movies for me, 'cause that was my contract, and so everything is perfect.”

I am a huge fun of the franchise and liked all the movies... i do wish we would have gotten to complete the sister trilogy though. I really liked Sam and Tara. I am curious where they go with 8 though.

I enjoy all 7 films but every time I get to 7 I miss Sam and Tara more and more.
