An app that instantly turns a photo into 360° view you can rotate & zoom into
Hey All,
We made an app in which you upload a photo of a person, and within seconds you get a 360° view you can drag all the way around and zoom into. Would really appreciate your honest feedback.

I uploaded a picture of clouds and not only did it put a random dude in the picture, he covers 90% of the image...?

I'm pretty sure this is using a 360 rotation MiniMax H3 workflow, which works best when there is a humanoid with most of their body in the middle of the picture. So the AI model probably hallucinated a person to make it make sense.

Thanks for saving time . These marketers have flocked to reddit for easy profit

It was the case since the beginning, it's just another way of hustling. Now with AI generated software the pace has increased. Once they run out of their money and cannot finance most of the projects and only a few will remain that actually have a solid business case, the bubble might pop.

Why would anyone pay that much for this? I mean, it's cool and all but there must be an actual use case to justify this price!

Oh hi there are you using my h3 lora with splats or something along those lines? When I tried this it was softer though so this looks like a nice pipeline. https://huggingface.co/MATLOWAI/MiniMax-H3-ORB360-CardSpin

No free 'twurn's available, so I'm guessing it's limited by everyone and not a singular IP address. I was going to see how it would handle a 3D sculpture - specifically https://pixabay.com/photos/king-artus-metal-sculpture-bronze-1507392/ which is in the public domain [CC0-License] - and I tried 2 minutes after midnight in my time zone too :(

u/hippohaul 19h ago
Increased the free twurns available so should work now

That's pretty darn impressive, especially the dirt road leading up to this scene - to see how well it guessed at the generative stuff you can reference the 3D sphere image found on Google Maps...

As the image is public domain, feel free to use this on your webpage as an example of your software inference.

So its just AI filling it in? Out of 100 images how many have issues? Dont lie.

u/hippohaul 1d ago
Yes AI is inferring and then filling in to create the 360. I would say about 7% to 10% of the images have some issues so far

u/Raylan_Givens 1d ago
Appending “make no mistakes” at the end of your prompt should bring that down to at least 3% error rate.

Just tried it but it turned the person into... something else. With this type of tech and photos of people, table-stakes is perfection, anything less and it's just uncanny valley; especially if the user knows the person in the photo.

first use that came to mind was clothing sellers, not people. a 360 of a jacket on a hanger would beat a flat product photo on most shop listings. is the person version aimed at avatars?
41

u/hippohaul 1d ago
That is exactly the main market we want to go after, but just wanted to test the tech with this idea first
3
u/alexio-vay 1d ago
Can you share more about the tech? Is it a gaussian splat API?
5
u/Capable_Tangelo4849 20h ago
MiniMax H3 360 degree rotation workflow. Easily achievable with your own GPU and by googling it.
2
u/alexio-vay 20h ago
Thanks, I actually already achieved the same result with REA and Fal AI in just 1 hour
2
u/kowdermesiter 18h ago
What did you prompt REA with?

u/JehovasFinesse 20h ago
I read the comment below it first and was like - OP is pretty blunt saying porn is the main market they wanna go after
1
u/QuanTradin 1d ago
makes sense, a person is the harder test anyway. if hair and hands hold up in a 360, a jacket on a hanger should be easy by comparison.
1
u/CuteBill9891 21h ago
yeah but hallucinations would create such a friction. People would complain if the back of the clothing does not match
3
u/QuanTradin 17h ago
true, a made-up seam on the back is a return waiting to happen. a shop would probably want a real back photo as input and let the model fill only the sides.
1
u/Bea-Billionaire 15h ago
But then that would be false advertising... Esp if the Ai just makes up what the back looks like.

u/ObviousBat3541 21h ago
Small thing, but 360° is the horizontal sweep only. If you can also drag up and down, that's 360x180, a sphere. Everyone calls it 360 anyway so nobody will notice.
1
u/UltraChip 1d ago
Cool idea!
I have some pictures of really niche unique locations that I'd be shocked if the AI could make full sense out of - I might try and see what happens with those.
1
u/hippohaul 1d ago
My guess is that it wouldn't do so great but you can definitely try. Our website works best with people at the moment
1
u/iwatchcredits 1d ago
Works best with people..? So like if i take a picture of my butthole or something the app can generate the whole thing or what?
1
u/3iverson 1d ago
It’s the power of AI- generated a perfect portrait of a person based on a snapshot of their butthole!

1
u/leocardenas 1d ago
Is there a way to test it? I think this is great for generating scenes. Biggest issue I have is AI understanding what the view from the other side looks like.

Bought a pack for shits and giggles, works pretty well for stylized images.
Real photos seem iffy, really seems to depend what the model can intuit from what’s already there. If the complete face isn’t in frame it’s kind of a coin flip what you get lol
Still, really cool. Will probably run some old vacation photos through at some point

So you basically prompt a video gen API to generate a video of a 360° view of the provided image? That's not a product.

umm clicked on it and didn't do anything and it said
Today's free twurns are all gone. Come back tomorrow! Packs start at $4.99.
5 bucks?
So because I couldn't try it out I just made one of me with Astra, what stops people just doing that instead of using this service?

Uploaded a foto of a manta, worked suprisingly well although not 360, more like just a video where the manta is moving.

u/7HawksAnd 14h ago
Obviously it is what it is.
But this triggers me TO NO END. Bringing war flashbacks to clients asking if I can use photoshop to rotate a person around

That's quite the hallucination with the random humanoids it's added in several spots.
There were no people in the random photo I tried
1
u/AYCA0001 4h ago
Add a function so it will turn automatically 360 degrees, and allow people to download it as a video.
1
u/anardoo 1d ago
Damn this is cool. Show the full back of the head too, that’s where I’d expect a single-photo 360 to break. Is that inferred or do you ask for more photos?
-1
u/hippohaul 1d ago
Thank you! It's inferred from AI and it does a good job of showing the full back of the head. You can test this particular one here:

u/MateoConLechuga 1d ago
I get a warning that "We couldn't check that you're human. Reload the page and try again." - I can't seem to upload or convert anything.

I dont see too much practical use of this, it's cool to test out few photos and that's it. Where someone can use this on long run and to become a tool?

Link? Web/Android/iOS/other?

It's currently on web but working on the iOS/Android app. This particular "twurn" is at https://twurn.com/s/20261015-xlvzdv9ssrkp

Very cool, and simultaneously, staggeringly useless. Which is nearly all applications of AI in a nutshell.
