It feels like my voice is getting worse and I'm not sure what to do

(3rd time posting because I kept messing up the title, my bad. Also reposting from r/singing because reddit recommended me to)

Apologies for the Yapping, wasn't sure where else to go lol

I've been singing since I was 10 years old (literally half of my life) in school choirs and such and I've always loved it, but this year it's felt like my technique has just disappeared ... or my voice has? I'm not sure. I'm autistic and I really struggle to identify what I'm feeling in my body, so when I go to my singing teacher it's hard for her to know what to tell me because I don't know what's wrong, just that something is wrong.

My voice gets weird sensations that seem to change every time I try to define them - usually minor aches or burning feelings in my throat. I have crazy acid reflux because I can't burp and I've been taking stuff for it before I sing. It helps but I'm pretty sure that's not my only problem.

My singing teacher figured out I have tongue tension so I've been trying to get better with that, and I also think it's super likely I have jaw tension and probably every other tension that exists. I also worry my breath support sucks even though it wasn't always this bad. Also weird thing that's been happening when I swallow over the past couple days - kind of feels like there's something else in my larynx area? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not, and it's really difficult to describe.

I've been trying so hard to get better but it feels like I overthink myself into worse habits, but if I don't then nothing changes. My directors keep telling my choirs things like "chill out" "relax" and I know I need to, I am an anxious wreck, but I also don't know how to improve when I'm not actively thinking about my technique. Singing isn't fun anymore because I'm so anxious and miserable and I miss when it was fun. I genuinely don't know what to do from here. I've gone to my singing teacher and there's not much she can tell me other than "that's weird, can you be more specific?" and I fucking can't. There's only one vocal health physician person in my area who everyone recommended me to and she's on maternity leave. If I try to figure it out myself, I just get confused and spiral until I'm sobbing on the floor and it makes me have a negative association with singing, which means I practice less, which means I obviously get worse.

Not really sure if advice is what I'm after, because I don't expect anyone to have a magic solution to my problems. I know I'm going to have to work to improve, and it's not gonna just happen overnight. I just really have no idea what to do, and I feel like I can't keep doing what I'm doing now. I hate that no one else can help me because I'm not able to properly verbalise what I'm feeling, emotionally or physically. If I'm asked why I'm upset, I don't even know what to say, because it feels like everything's wrong in my brain and with my vocal folds :(

Thanks if you read this far lol all comments appreciated <3

Beginner Singer The Promise by Tracy Chapman Rough Take

I am a beginner self taught singer and am looking for opinions on how I am doing with this particular song. I love this song but do you think it suits me? I am using a microphone that has a delay echo sound that I can’t seem to fix so I apologize for this. I am hard of hearing so it helps me to help to hear myself sing in real time. I welcome thoughts and tips. Thank you everyone. https://voca.ro/1jRiAHByW0XS

I suck at Karaoke so I created an app

As the title suggests I noticed that I totally suck at Karaoke. To prepare myself for the next friend group or coworkers asking forcing me to sing with them I created an app which helps me improve.

Since I do not have any experience with singing at all, I let AI research the theory/science behind it and created the app around exactly that research.

I am aware that this cannot replace professional singing lessons but I feel like I improved already at around 4 month of weekly usage.

You can try it out here: singler.by-jp.de/app
Would love to get some feedback ❤️

(It’s totally free, no account needed. Your voice does not leave your browser ever)

How to extend chest higher?

I seem to soften up and go into head as I go higher. So instinctively I can't seem to extend my chest any higher. And I don't want to get louder as I go higher into chest because of strain and all. So how do I extend chest higher? And is this an unrealistic way to do it. Do you really have to belt to stretch chest higher?

Mephisto cover opinions

Hi! I've recorded a cover song, Mephisto by Queen Bee, and I would like to have your opinions. What do you think about the high and low parts? Thank you so much for answering. I'm an amatuer singer. I did my best in the studio. :)

Hey so I filmed this around a month ago when my house was empty (there are a couple of times I lower the volume cause I think I've heard someone). I feel like my voice has a healthier placement here than other times but still sounds nasal, and I feel like often my voice sounds too child-like (Im 23 so it should have developed already)

Pls guide me, ty ❤️❤️❤️

Help on hitting a higher note in chest voice?

Hey everyone! I’m trying to improve my singing and would really appreciate some advice. On a good day, I can hit a G4, but my highest notes are usually around F4 or F#4. I feel like I’ve tried a lot of different tips and exercises, but none of them really click for me. For example, people often tell me to mix my chest voice and head voice, but I honestly don’t understand what that means or how I’m supposed to do it.
I’m looking for tips that are easy to understand and that I can actually practice and apply to my singing. If possible, I’d really appreciate step-by-step explanations of what I should be doing and what it should feel or sound like when I’m doing it correctly. I want to improve my high notes and expand my range without straining my voice. Any advice, exercises, or resources that helped you would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a singing teacher of the old Italian Romantic school in Livorno / Pisa (Tuscany) and in other regions too

Hello everyone,

I’m a soprano living between Livorno and Pisa, and I’m looking for a singing teacher in the area who teaches the technique of the old Italian Romantic school.

The singers I love most and who inspire me are Claudia Muzio, Mafalda Favero and Enrico Caruso.

I’m especially looking for a teacher who builds the voice through vocalizzi.

If you know a teacher who works this way, or have studied with someone you’d recommend, I’d be very grateful for any suggestions!

Thank you!
