China is far from perfect but as an American when I look at cities like Chongqing it really highlights how far behind we are.

Just a question do you think living in that massive megaopolis is actually better than living in the US because that is utter brain rot

Question, from where you are right now, can you get to a high speed train within 100 miles that will take you ~500 miles for about $20?

Thats.... not what I value for quality of life? High speed trains is not synonymous with a better life. It is a component of it, if you value it, but.. that doesnt mean the average Chinese person is living better than the average American lol

You understand that they literally pay a fraction of everything we buy every day, from food to clothes to rent to car payments, right?

Do you understand that their pay is also a fraction of what we get for the same job?

You realize they have some of the highest death rates from long working hours. While illegal, many factories still require the workers to work from 9am to 9pm, 6 days a week.

Don't get it twisted. I'm not saying China is a horrible place. I'd love to go to Shenzen, Beijing, Chongqing.

But there's a reason all the tech is created there. You're not familiar with 996 working hours?
Their cousins working in a factory with nets to stop suicides ain't one of them dawg.

I think the circlejerk has gone too far, while some upper middle class Chinese have an arguably higher quality of life than the average American, a random factory worker is going to be miles below the average American
