so what, you can sue companies for their preferences?

I don’t think for a second this is discrimination. it’s her face, it’s their workplace. and yes, a person can be rejected for a position if how they look isn’t appropriate for the job. and looking like a desk isn’t really appropriate.

good job to the person who made the comment. fucking ambulance chaser ofc sues the company, no surprises there.

It’s not discrimination to reject an application for non protected reasons. None of those tattoos are protected. They are not tied to a religion. They are just poor choices.

15

u/Future_One4794 1d ago

I am pretty sure even piercings are not protected let alone face/neck visible tattoos

13

u/newbie527 1d ago

Nothing says you gave up on life like tattoos of the face and neck.

5

u/SapphireStar26 1d ago

Yeah, if getting tattoos, always get them someplace that can be covered unless you’re rich enough to not need a paycheck.

17

u/Silver_Lined_Bullet 1d ago

Thats the other thing: Its a choice. No one forced them to get tattoos

6

u/Redfro33 1d ago

Is religion not a choice?

2

u/Silent_Fudge_3978 1d ago

This is true too, but for some reason many societies consider religious choices to be sacrosanct.

To be fair, though, I'm not aware of any religion that requires people to have face tattoos. But if you're talking about head coverings and the like, then yes, you're right: those really are choices. No one is forcing these people to wear those, unless they live in one of the handful of countries that does.

u/Justieflustie 22h ago

My religion does require to have face tattoos, but i am not practicing

2

u/Muted_Month83 20h ago

And what is that religion?

7

u/Justieflustie 20h ago

The made it the fuck up religion. Not that different than the rest though

1

u/Pershing99 23h ago

I dunno to me it looks like pimp stamps.

1

u/MediocreAnalyst2121 18h ago

Maybe they’re cultural tattoos? There exist places in the world where they get tattoos.

1

u/Silver_Lined_Bullet 12h ago

Yeah i didn't really think about that. My comment is a bit shortsighted

1

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 11h ago

No it isn't.

1

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 11h ago

And in those societies its an understood thing. In most societies its not an acceptable practice.

1

u/MediocreAnalyst2121 5h ago

Then it might be discriminatory 🤷‍♂️

12

u/_Bon_Vivant_ 1d ago

Exactly right. It's no different than rejecting an applicant that showed up to the interview in a Speedo and Ski boots.

3

u/Any-Fan6525 1d ago

Now, that is something I would like to see.

3

u/Commercial-Duty6279 1d ago

But it was a dress Speedo, plain black.

4

u/_Bon_Vivant_ 1d ago

But it didn't match the neon green ski boots. Now, if they had included a bolo tie.....Welcome aboard!

1

u/Sporeman13 25m ago

So THATS what I am doing wrong!

2

u/Vikturus22 1d ago

“Oh no! My actions have consequences!” Shock pikachu face

well i mean im prettyy sure you can sue for anything..... doesnt mean the judge wont toss it out though

6

u/ilcs720 1d ago

If a lawsuit is deemed frivolous you might have to pay the defendant’s legal fees

2

u/National_Cod9546 13h ago

This almost never happens. It needs to be more common.

1

u/Nicciesse 17h ago

Love this! Yes you can sue and yes you wil lose.

9

u/LeaningTowerofPeas 1d ago

You can sue if you are in a protected class such as race, gender, or disability. Looking like a school dean’s not a protected class.

6

u/ColdToast_024 1d ago

10/10 times you are going to approach the person not covered in ink at a store front.

7

u/Fragrant-Frog-9290 1d ago

You can only sue for discrimination against a protected class so she will be left arguing in court that it's normal for either a woman or black person to have tattoos all over their face like this

7

u/Substantial_Force658 1d ago

"you can sue companies for their preferences?"

Not when you are a made up AI image, no.

2

u/SendTitsPleease 1d ago

This has been around longer then ai being common place

5

u/Spare_Special_3617 1d ago

Wrong, I most certainly can refuse employment to this person and it is not illegal.

2

u/incapablepotato 1d ago

That’s exactly what they said?

2

u/Spare_Special_3617 1d ago

My bad, that's on me. I replied to the wrong damn comment.

3

u/BootlegOP 1d ago

You’re not allowed to apologize on the internet! You’re supposed to fight!

2

u/incapablepotato 1d ago

💀 fair enough.

3

u/JohanPertama 1d ago

It'd be a problem if she was customer facing. Sure.

But what if it was a desk job?

17

u/malphas_says_hi 1d ago

They don't need two desks, apparently.

4

u/crackednutz 1d ago

Plus, there is no telling what she would draw on the desk for her next inspiration.

1

u/Ok-Possibility-1206 1d ago

I see what you did there...

1

u/wraper 1d ago

Why would employer want an idiot for any position?

1

u/Phyzzx 23h ago

LMAO! seriously underrated comment we got here, everyone.

1

u/Any-Question-3759 1d ago

Graffiti face isn’t a protected class.

Lawsuit dismissed

1

u/jamwin 1d ago

there is a new shop in Sydney CBD called Alo, they sell workout gear. Without exception every staff member is like 20, super fit and good looking (and white). I think they probably have a hiring profile and reject a lot of people based on age, looks, weight, color.

1

u/ExistingTheDream 1d ago

You can sue people for almost anything. Whether it ever makes it to court?

1

u/koolaidismything 1d ago

Not many jobs do they have to like hire you on the spot either. And who’s to say it isn’t as simple as they found someone more qualified. That will get tossed out and she’s gonna lose like $500 on some shitty lawyer who told her she had a slam dunk

1

u/Glum_Environment_204 1d ago

Huh, ambulance chase. Yea idk what that means.

1

u/theoriginalmofocus 1d ago

Old term for a lawyer chasing an ambulance to help the person in the ambulance sue.

1

u/Marxism_is_sexy 18h ago

Of course it's discrimination. We discriminate for all sorts of legals reasons. We discriminate against children by not letting them vote or drive cars, for example. what this is not is discrimination based on her membership in a protected class, and only that very narrow, specific form of discrimination is illegal.

1

u/mynamesnotsnuffy 15h ago

Having tattoos isnt a protected class(unless the tattoos are religious in nature).

1

u/National_Cod9546 13h ago

For me, the main reason I would reject her is she clearly has poor decision making skills and or impulse control. I don't want someone like that working for me. That is how your company gets on YouTube for having flights in the parking lot.

With very few exceptions, every tattoo you get should be covered by a suit and tie. And every piercing should be removable.

1

u/Notaproblemokay 2h ago

Because it's not real

0

u/jittery_raccoon 1d ago

Is there more context to this? Like if she was formerly incarcerated I could see that being some form of discrimination

-1

u/forShizAndGigz00001 1d ago

Yes and no, if they look odd because of a disability but otherwise they can perform the role that is discrimination.

Arguablu shes mentally defficient so idk itd be a fun court case to watch.

1

u/Remarkable-Truth3320 1d ago

You must be Gen Alpha

-14

u/DnDNerdFool 1d ago

No actually it doesn’t work that way. Yes. A company is not allowed to have preferences except for very specific scenarios (modeling). If a person can do the job then a company cannot discriminate based on appearance.

12

u/Serious-Manager2361 1d ago

If she was not hired for being black or gay or Jewish, then you'd have a point. However, moron face-tatooers are not a protected class.

11

u/Few-Emergency1068 1d ago

People keep saying this. Laws only protect from discrimination for certain protected classes. Having tattoos is not one of those classes.

8

u/SendTitsPleease 1d ago

Being attractive or not isnt either. You can come into my office for a job and I could just not like the outfit youre wearing and be fully within my rights to have that be my official reason for not hiring you

3

u/tndrthrowy 1d ago

That is how I make all my hiring decisions.

7

u/Extension-Hornet-131 1d ago

I, as a person, beg to differ. my company, my preferences.

1

u/DnDNerdFool 1d ago

Go ahead and try to not hire someone because they’re too ugly to work at your conpany

1

u/Extension-Hornet-131 20h ago

I didn’t say or even imply it’d be because of ugliness. I used the term “inappropriate” and who the fuck am I to even judge if a person’s ugly or not anyways?

but I and we all judge controversial choices and these many face tattoos is a controversial choice.

4

u/Rob_Edwards_Fashion 1d ago

Incorrect. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Even if someone is “fully qualified” it doesn’t mean they are the best candidate or “most qualified”

4

u/Proof-Ability1556 1d ago

Yes they can! Only certain categories are protected classes (race, sex, religion, etc). A private company has every right to decline to hire based on this or other personal grooming issues.

4

u/Spirited_Cheesus 1d ago

Only protected classes are covered. People with face tattoos isn't a protected class

3

u/SackOfPotatoes949 1d ago

Incorrect. "Appearance" is not a protected class.

1

u/incapablepotato 1d ago

So then how do places like hooters or Twain peaks get away with it? Right because it’s not illegal.

1

u/DnDNerdFool 21h ago

They get away with it by doing it on the sly and not telling people “you’re too ugly to work here”
