God forbid some company makes a cool flying car

Edit: y'all really make powder kegs outta nothing

u/ShubaltzTV 1d ago

You're crazy to think this thing will "fly" longer than the 3 seconds if showed. This is just a wasted prototype that'll go nowhere

16

u/monkakappa 1d ago

God forbid someone push engineering and innovation

6

u/Mothyew 1d ago

This is Reddit, let them be angry and miserable 🤣

4

u/so_sic_of_it 1d ago

It's the closest they'll ever have to a personality.

3

u/TWW34 1d ago

It'll be slick as hell when someone actually does that. I'll be waiting.

-2

u/Zromaus 1d ago

Imagine being this emotionally blinded

3

u/TWW34 1d ago

The irony of someone blinded by emotion saying this should be lost on no one lol.

2

u/Ashendarei 1d ago

Imagine dickriding this hard for a neo nazi's publicity stunt 😆 🤡

But they didn’t

Innovation- we’ve had cold thrusters for years.

Engineering - nothing here is new. This could have been done by anyone but most have said “no sorry I don’t do crack”

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 1d ago edited 1d ago

yes, jetpacks use that. To lift a single human body weight is practical.
But to lift an electric car that's even heavier with lithium battery packs is impossible. You would need hundreds of them to generate enough lift to even levitate a car.
All it does is cushion the fall even with multiple thrusters.

-5

u/monkakappa 1d ago

So why hasn’t anyone made a flying car then of everyone could for years?

14

u/mhorbacz 1d ago

Because it's a stupid idea

-4

u/monkakappa 1d ago

So was going to the moon, but that’s American exceptionalism, doing stupid things no one else can

8

u/Dinovius 1d ago

No it wasn’t. Why are you gaslighting?

First, it was a race. Whose racing to be the first to make car go boing?

Secondly the moon has enabled tons of scientific research. Moon rocks and dust, experiments done on the moon and in zero gravity. So much that has helped humanity

Why are you shellacking Elon for this? You’re convincing yourself you’re not trying to convince us you know this. You’re just trying to reenforce your own personality here. You can be an adult and unbiased say two things

It was a cool as thing. So are monster trucks. Cool ass shit. I never said it wasn’t cool. It’s cool.

Would you drive a monster truck? Does a monster truck wow anyone on the highway? Are they considered peak engineering?

No.

Come on chief.

One of the first flying cars (1947):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_Model_118

One of the later flying cars:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL-V_Liberty

There have been a quite a few more:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_car

Guess what: they don't sell because they're stupid ideas

9

u/Dinovius 1d ago

Because it’s not a fucking flying car lol

And to answer you , they have.

Lunar landers. SpaceX thrusters

That’s like asking me “why hasn’t anyone put a fishing pole on an iPhone?

Because what the fuck is the point ? FSD has killed a few people im sure the thrusters flipping a car over totally won’t hurt anyone lol

1

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 1d ago

car is too heavy, even worse with electric car battery packs - known to be the heaviest thing compared to conventional cars.
For a single human, it already exists and works.

To call this innovation is using the words loosely, has it been done before in car before? No. Has compressed air been used to create lift? Yes. This is old technology used in a pretty useless way, hardly innovative

11

u/Zromaus 1d ago

Putting it in a car is innovative.

-2

u/Agitated_Breakfast97 1d ago

No putting it in a car is new , for it to be innovative it has to have real-world value, this has no value what so ever

3

u/Zromaus 1d ago

It will be fun to own, which provides value. There are plenty of toys only usable on private property which hold value.

2

u/CheesecakeMage42 1d ago

neither you or anyone else will ever own this because it will never legally be allowed on the road.

0

u/novembr 1d ago

Who cares? There's lots of concept cars that aren't street legal. They're just cool and sometimes innovative. Isn't that enough? Oh, of course it's not. Bitching and moaning about Musk is way more important.

5

u/monkakappa 1d ago

>the first time anything like this has been done before isn’t innovative

-2

u/Agitated_Breakfast97 1d ago

Look up the meaning of the world innovation, just because it’s new doesn’t make it innovative

1

u/CEDoromal 1d ago

If Tesla adds proper door handles and actual buttons and levers that you could feel, then that's what I'd call engineering and innovation

1

u/BriefAvailable9799 23h ago

?? this is old tech. worked on yo ass i guess

1

u/CilleTheExterminator 19h ago

This is not pushing engineering or innovation. Engineers already knew what would happen if you put thrusters on a car... But keep on sucking nazi elon dick

1

u/Rojodi 1d ago

Been done before, and better

1

u/vqkr1 1d ago

This didn't push engineering and it certainly wasn't innovation

1

u/Umlunguboy420 1d ago

Lol.. this has literally never been done before.

-2

u/Maximum_Boros 1d ago

Someone is welcome to actually do that. this ain't it and I cannot imagine being simple enough to think it is, honestly.

2

u/D3SK3R 1d ago

imagine calling someone "simple" while defending that something new may have uses even if those are not the intended or obvious ones... the simple people are the ones simply dismissing it as complete waste of time before even trying to think about it.

1

u/FactsNLaughs 1d ago

I will call anyone who calls this a “flying car” simple minded because it’s simply not flying. It’s jumping.

1

u/D3SK3R 1d ago

thats not the point, the point is that it's a "tech demo".

1

u/FactsNLaughs 1d ago

And my point is that anyone calling this a flying car is objectively wrong.

2

u/D3SK3R 1d ago

ok, noted, not sure why you commented that replying to my comment.

2

u/monkakappa 1d ago

You can’t think that the first flying car is a cool engineering feet? I feel bad for you

7

u/Maximum_Boros 1d ago

I mean if someone thinks this is a "flying car" in any meaningful way yeah they're simple.

It's a clever stunt akin to a high budget vegas magic trick. .That's literally all it is and all it ever will be.

1

u/monkakappa 1d ago

Wait did you think people were going to be driving these around the highway? Maybe that’s why no one is impressed that are all that stupid

4

u/FactsNLaughs 1d ago

Are you trying to say this car is flying? Because it’s clearly not. It’s jumping.
