God forbid some company makes a cool flying car

Edit: y'all really make powder kegs outta nothing

18

u/MaximumEffort433 18h ago

God forbid some company makes a hopping car

FTFY

u/ifloops 9h ago

God forbid some company makes a misleading tech demo of a hollow, lightweight, car-shaped object floating

FTFW

16

u/Ok-Performer-4761 18h ago

Guess what we’re also gonna colonize mars!

9

u/voxelpear 18h ago

Also we'll have a cool tunnel that'll solve all traffic issues

7

u/Educational-Seaweed5 18h ago

And no one will need money anymore (except the people who take all the money and control everything you do)!

49

u/Procrasturbating 18h ago

“Let them eat cake”. The man behind this starved the population of my home state in Africa and fired all the people in government that could hold him accountable for a number of financial crimes. I don’t care if he made a car do a kickflip over a semi.

You are witnessing theft from the poor funding entertainment for the rich. Parasite class indeed.

7

u/RangeAgitated2881 11h ago

Who did Elon starve?

Stop your bullshit

5

u/NibblyPig 11h ago

No-one, it's just an "elon bad" jerk

0

u/Procrasturbating 10h ago

https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/elon-musk-confronted-list-people-153158388.html

He is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths SO FAR. Mostly children. DOGE cut the entire US AID program at his command. This is indisputable fact.

But… but… car do kickflip! Idiots.

3

u/jorsiem 7h ago

If you give a voluntary donation to someone and then you take it away because it was voluntary in the first place you're not responsible for what happens with the lack of that money.

13

u/so_sic_of_it 17h ago

Why weren't the people of your home state producing their own food?

-15

u/Procrasturbating 17h ago

My home state feeds a good chunk of the surrounding states.. a lot of it out there just rotting as we no longer share it with countries that used to trade more with or receive aid from us. Poor wording on my part using state to mean “US state” as a size comparison and not actually an African nation state. Cutting aid actually hurt American farmers.

-7

u/TheMinister 16h ago

You're 100 percent correct but some fan boys want you to be wrong

-5

u/Procrasturbating 16h ago

Bots mostly I’d wager.

31

u/soviet_canuck 17h ago

Your entire African home state was dependent on American tax dollars for food? And by starved, you mean he killed them all? Damn. Or is this just Reddit bullshit once again?

6

u/Majsharan 11h ago

Reddit bullshit

12

u/samjambetty 15h ago

People will blame anyone but the government in any African country. In South Africa we are marching against illegal foreigners instead of the blatantly corrupt government that still has majority support (who let's in the illegal foreigners anyway)

-2

u/FailureToComply0 14h ago

Musk comes from an emerald dynasty in South Africa. Entirely likely he's created food insecurity there as a result, yeah. "Starved" is different than starved to death.

Is this an honest question because you cant read, or are you sucking Musk off because he has a faked video of a concept of a useless vehicle? The fucking thing sticks to the ramp upside down for seconds before it starts to fall. Are we seriously this gullible?

2

u/hypervortex21 11h ago

It's litterally got a fan making negative pressure under the car, it's not even the first car to demo this so why is it impossible?

1

u/FailureToComply0 2h ago

Show me the fan that can hold up the weight of a car and we can talk. Its an empty shell with pressurized air tanks in it, 100%. Yall are seriously this dumb?

2

u/jorsiem 7h ago

"Starved" Oh shut up. USAID was never a guarantee.

2

u/CityRulesFootball 13h ago

I don't know man, maybe your citizens should use the money properly instead of putting it in their pockets. America can do what it wants with their money.

10

u/Size---Queen 18h ago

We already have had this it's called a helicopter and it's not flying it's a propulsion system it's more or less a jump button it cannot sustain flight.

It's a cool stunt but that's all this is nobody is driving this around.

8

u/Rich_Instance 18h ago

I could care less if it actually flies like a helicopter or plane. It did a kick flip over a bunch of stuff, that's pretty baller

4

u/Sufficient_Matter585 18h ago

Its a stunt. It wont ever be commercially available.

2

u/Joice_Craglarg 10h ago

No shit. Still sick asf

0

u/Size---Queen 18h ago

Yeah it's a cool stunt I'm not arguing against this but I have seen so many people think this thing is being sold to the general public.

8

u/Rich_Instance 18h ago

Oh there's no way the general public is getting their hands on it. Still made for a neat video

1

u/Size---Queen 18h ago

No doubt I would love to hit the jump button myself

1

u/Scuba9Steve 17h ago

They’ll sell a standard EV version of it and then the general public can make flying car jokes about it I guess.

2

u/Size---Queen 16h ago

It's a propulsion system it's not flying it's a fueled powered boost/jump system it's needs stabilization and perfect conditions to come down and not crash.

It's why jetpack videos are overarge bodies of water because they cannot land or control it fully reliably.

Flying is something that can maintain and control somewhat itself.

My buddy has a small Cessna for example it flys it can fly and glide without anything running because auto dynamicly it's designed to fly.

A 5000+lbs vehicle with a possible bomb under it is not designed to fly

1

u/Scuba9Steve 16h ago

By standard EV version I mean they’ll have a non-flying version.

1

u/Mythun4523 9h ago

It's a model car doing flips bro. 7 year olds do this as a science project.

1

u/Rich_Instance 8h ago

If I saw a 7 year old make a model car with jets on it that kickflips over a bunch of similarly sized cars, I'd say that's pretty baller too

1

u/voxelpear 18h ago

Did it though?

2

u/SubNine5 17h ago

They want money. Impressing idiots with investing in something that would never be legal. Seems pretty easy seeing the reactions. They get money and do nothing more. Tax breaks, more corruption, blah blah idiots don't care about that stuff!

1

u/ShubaltzTV 18h ago

You're crazy to think this thing will "fly" longer than the 3 seconds if showed. This is just a wasted prototype that'll go nowhere

2

u/Maximum-Objective-39 17h ago

I wouldn't really cal. it a 'prototype' as that implies it will enter some sort serial productions. It's a stunt car.

18

u/monkakappa 18h ago

God forbid someone push engineering and innovation

8

u/Mothyew 18h ago

This is Reddit, let them be angry and miserable 🤣

3

u/so_sic_of_it 17h ago

It's the closest they'll ever have to a personality.

2

u/TWW34 18h ago

It'll be slick as hell when someone actually does that. I'll be waiting.

-2

u/Zromaus 18h ago

Imagine being this emotionally blinded

3

u/TWW34 17h ago

The irony of someone blinded by emotion saying this should be lost on no one lol.

2

u/Ashendarei 17h ago

Imagine dickriding this hard for a neo nazi's publicity stunt 😆 🤡

3

u/Dinovius 18h ago

But they didn’t

Innovation- we’ve had cold thrusters for years.

Engineering - nothing here is new. This could have been done by anyone but most have said “no sorry I don’t do crack”

6

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 17h ago edited 16h ago

yes, jetpacks use that. To lift a single human body weight is practical.
But to lift an electric car that's even heavier with lithium battery packs is impossible. You would need hundreds of them to generate enough lift to even levitate a car.
All it does is cushion the fall even with multiple thrusters.

-5

u/monkakappa 18h ago

So why hasn’t anyone made a flying car then of everyone could for years?

12

u/mhorbacz 18h ago

Because it's a stupid idea

-7

u/monkakappa 18h ago

So was going to the moon, but that’s American exceptionalism, doing stupid things no one else can

8

u/Dinovius 18h ago

No it wasn’t. Why are you gaslighting?

First, it was a race. Whose racing to be the first to make car go boing?

Secondly the moon has enabled tons of scientific research. Moon rocks and dust, experiments done on the moon and in zero gravity. So much that has helped humanity

Why are you shellacking Elon for this? You’re convincing yourself you’re not trying to convince us you know this. You’re just trying to reenforce your own personality here. You can be an adult and unbiased say two things

It was a cool as thing. So are monster trucks. Cool ass shit. I never said it wasn’t cool. It’s cool.

Would you drive a monster truck? Does a monster truck wow anyone on the highway? Are they considered peak engineering?

No.

Come on chief.

3

u/DomeSlave 16h ago

One of the first flying cars (1947):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_Model_118

One of the later flying cars:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL-V_Liberty

There have been a quite a few more:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_car

Guess what: they don't sell because they're stupid ideas

5

u/Dinovius 18h ago

Because it’s not a fucking flying car lol

And to answer you , they have.

Lunar landers. SpaceX thrusters

That’s like asking me “why hasn’t anyone put a fishing pole on an iPhone?

Because what the fuck is the point ? FSD has killed a few people im sure the thrusters flipping a car over totally won’t hurt anyone lol

1

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 17h ago

car is too heavy, even worse with electric car battery packs - known to be the heaviest thing compared to conventional cars.
For a single human, it already exists and works.

https://giphy.com/gifs/q01igVw9qN8B072nXa

-1

u/Agitated_Breakfast97 18h ago

To call this innovation is using the words loosely, has it been done before in car before? No. Has compressed air been used to create lift? Yes. This is old technology used in a pretty useless way, hardly innovative

12

u/Zromaus 18h ago

Putting it in a car is innovative.

-3

u/Agitated_Breakfast97 17h ago

No putting it in a car is new , for it to be innovative it has to have real-world value, this has no value what so ever

4

u/Zromaus 17h ago

It will be fun to own, which provides value. There are plenty of toys only usable on private property which hold value.

1

u/CheesecakeMage42 17h ago

neither you or anyone else will ever own this because it will never legally be allowed on the road.

0

u/novembr 17h ago

Who cares? There's lots of concept cars that aren't street legal. They're just cool and sometimes innovative. Isn't that enough? Oh, of course it's not. Bitching and moaning about Musk is way more important.

4

u/monkakappa 18h ago

>the first time anything like this has been done before isn’t innovative

-1

u/Agitated_Breakfast97 18h ago

Look up the meaning of the world innovation, just because it’s new doesn’t make it innovative

1

u/CEDoromal 17h ago

If Tesla adds proper door handles and actual buttons and levers that you could feel, then that's what I'd call engineering and innovation

1

u/BriefAvailable9799 15h ago

?? this is old tech. worked on yo ass i guess

1

u/CilleTheExterminator 11h ago

This is not pushing engineering or innovation. Engineers already knew what would happen if you put thrusters on a car... But keep on sucking nazi elon dick

1

u/Rojodi 18h ago

Been done before, and better

1

u/vqkr1 16h ago

This didn't push engineering and it certainly wasn't innovation

1

u/Umlunguboy420 15h ago

Lol.. this has literally never been done before.

-2

u/Maximum_Boros 18h ago

Someone is welcome to actually do that. this ain't it and I cannot imagine being simple enough to think it is, honestly.

4

u/D3SK3R 18h ago

imagine calling someone "simple" while defending that something new may have uses even if those are not the intended or obvious ones... the simple people are the ones simply dismissing it as complete waste of time before even trying to think about it.

2

u/FactsNLaughs 18h ago

I will call anyone who calls this a “flying car” simple minded because it’s simply not flying. It’s jumping.

1

u/D3SK3R 16h ago

thats not the point, the point is that it's a "tech demo".

1

u/FactsNLaughs 16h ago

And my point is that anyone calling this a flying car is objectively wrong.

2

u/D3SK3R 16h ago

ok, noted, not sure why you commented that replying to my comment.

4

u/monkakappa 18h ago

You can’t think that the first flying car is a cool engineering feet? I feel bad for you

7

u/Maximum_Boros 18h ago

I mean if someone thinks this is a "flying car" in any meaningful way yeah they're simple.

It's a clever stunt akin to a high budget vegas magic trick. .That's literally all it is and all it ever will be.

1

u/monkakappa 18h ago

Wait did you think people were going to be driving these around the highway? Maybe that’s why no one is impressed that are all that stupid

3

u/FactsNLaughs 18h ago

Are you trying to say this car is flying? Because it’s clearly not. It’s jumping.

-1

u/l_Lathliss_l 18h ago

So do you think the wright brothers were flying trans continental? Lol what an idiotic thing to say. Of course this prototype won’t be around long, just as the wright flyer was never actually used. It’s pushing advancement.

0

u/dazzumz 18h ago

Gravity calls

3

u/Dinovius 18h ago

Doesn’t fly tho

3

u/karoshikun 18h ago

did they made it? because that shit wasn't it.

gods, leaving aside how awkward the climbing and the flying was, as in, that's not how physics work, remember all his other lies, from the robot who was a guy dancing to the whole cybertruck mess...

guys, come on, don't get bamboozled by yet another controlled presentation! liars are going to lie

6

u/J-MRP 18h ago

Remember when elon musk begged to go to "parties" on epstein island

6

u/karoshikun 18h ago

remember him slashing USAID without a care for the people it affected?

3

u/J-MRP 18h ago

Yeah that got innocent people killed. Fuck that guy.

3

u/karoshikun 17h ago

and people are lapping his bullshit yet again from a faked presentation. a man who by all rights should be considered causing a genocide already -just from the USAID part-

1

u/StevePalpatine 18h ago

Because they and their lame-brained social media bots will use this to say they're advancing science when they're really doing glorified stunt work.

Then it'll be used to justify further investment and subsidization at the expense of dimwitted shareholders and the taxpayer.

8

u/untitledprp4 18h ago

Glorified stunt work?

You have no idea how the car works do you

Even stunts haven’t been able to pull off what they did

It is objectively an incredibly impressive feat of engineering

-1

u/surfergrrl6 18h ago

Compressed air and gyros are't all that impressive. Besides there's no way this would be street legal in any state.

-1

u/Drosenose 18h ago

Every new mode go through a long process to become "legal

1

u/Scuba9Steve 17h ago

Even then it’ll be a very limited production expensive car for collectors. Ideally what it will do, is get more people to buy the standard EV trim they are going to mass produce and then they make their money off it that way.

1

u/Drosenose 8h ago

You could only hope , because anything Elon does is bad because I was told I have to think that to go the dinner thing that my wife is so excited about

2

u/FactsNLaughs 18h ago

Where’s the flying part tho? All I’m seeing is jumping.

3

u/Powerful-Substance33 17h ago

After watching the promo and seeing all the negative comments about its usefulness my mind goes to a particular movie ( hancock).

When Jason Bateman gets stuck on the rail road tracks and willsmith flips the car over onto the car behind him. After expressing his gratitude and calming the angry crowd he agrees passively and says to Hancock you should have went up.

You guys see a kick flipping jumping car, I see accident avoidance in its infancy. No body likes air bags to the face and the survival rate is not increasing to a 100% rate. If the entire car just moved itself out the way without any impact everyone survived.

1

u/paroxybob 15h ago

Oh yes, I’m sure this will work perfectly every time and not add more the body count. A computer controlled Tesla has never hurt anyone before. So yes let’s allow it to fling its 5 ton self into the air whenever it feels like it.

1

u/i_make_orange_rhyme 12h ago

I know right!

What's next, giant exploding pillows built into your doors?!?

Inconceivable!

3

u/CompetitiveReview416 18h ago edited 17h ago

It's not a flying car. It's a jumping car. Great if you live in a place without roads

Bots down voting me is hillarious

3

u/MayaIsSunshine 17h ago

That's not flying, it's falling with style!

1

u/Bombalaharris 17h ago

Minus the style

6

u/Zromaus 18h ago

The first flying car was never going to be realistic, it’s how we start though.

-2

u/CompetitiveReview416 17h ago

Flying cars will be planes with wheels, not cars with propulsion. You'll need pilots license to fly a car

2

u/Zromaus 17h ago

You don’t need a license to fly an Ultralight or Experimental craft. The lack of this requirement has proven to be just fine. Flying cars will be fine.

3

u/pileofcrustycumsocs 17h ago edited 17h ago

Because they can only weigh a maximum of 255 lbs to be considered an ultra light and can only have a maximum fuel capacity of 5 gallons, if you crash one of those you will die but you won’t kill someone else unless you directly fly into them. Not to mention that because their flight ceiling is so low there’s not a lot of risk for potential collisions, any motor issues will have the plane glide safely out of the sky.

A flying car would be significantly heavier and way more dangerous.

Flying cars don’t exist because they are incredibly dangerous and create the potential for massive death tolls that regular cars just don’t have the same risk factors for. It has nothing to do with the technology not existing. The technology has been there for 60 years. There just isn’t a reason to make one and it’s not solving a problem that doesn’t already have a solution.

If your car has a mechanical issue, it just dies and you can move over to the side of the road. If a flying car fails you fall out of the sky and just die.

4

u/CompetitiveReview416 17h ago

I don't know where you live, but in my country you for sure need a license for thst. Also car won't be ultra light

2

u/Zromaus 17h ago

The US

1

u/DeviousSmile85 17h ago

People can't even handle cars when they're on the fucking ground.

2

u/OkMention9988 18h ago

It's a start.

1

u/CompetitiveReview416 18h ago

Start to defraud investors

1

u/jazzyman31 17h ago

Stock went down but ok

1

u/CompetitiveReview416 17h ago

Well fool me once.. Fool me twice.. Something something. Stock goes down

1

u/jazzyman31 17h ago

Don’t think the market saw this as a real investable event. It’s not being marketed as a product they plan to sell millions of. The price point and exclusivity clearly suggest this is not going to be mass-produced. It was just a cool concept they were showing off.

1

u/CompetitiveReview416 16h ago

It was a show to make people forget the original roadster which was supposed to be a legit car

1

u/jazzyman31 16h ago

That was like a decade ago. I don’t think anyone was hanging onto an idea that wasn’t scrapped

2

u/Mayfect 18h ago

A car will never in the foreseeable future be able to fly while simultaneously be safe to drive on our roads

1

u/Ok-Primary2176 17h ago

Who needs roads if you have flying cars

3

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 16h ago

Yes, the Elon bot farms from India are aggressively pushing it, reposting and defending him.

All he did was strap 12 jetpack thrusters to a car to cushion its fall. I don't see what is so groundbreaking or new about it, definitely just an expensive stunt. He's banking on people not knowing whats been going on in science and engineering.

https://giphy.com/gifs/q01igVw9qN8B072nXa

2

u/CompetitiveReview416 16h ago

Yeah, we had this tech for decades. Just nobody saw the point of actually hooking it to a car

0

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 16h ago

do you know how heavy a car is? Do you know that electric cars have been well known to be even heavier than conventional cars due to their lithium battery packs? And I am not talking about a little bit heavy, its so heavy that people have concerns that being hit by an electric car is far more unsafe for pedestrians to survive through. And including those cyber trucks that Elon wanted sharp corners instead of curvatures, it also increased the deadly risk because those curvatures acted as a crumple zone to dissipate the force during an accident, so as to minimize the force. But instead he doesn't care about that and just thinks its "cool". That is why I tell you, he has no sense or intelligence, just a man baby with a lot of money to throw around.

1

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 17h ago

be careful, all these accounts gooning for Elon are actually from India bot farms.

2

u/CompetitiveReview416 17h ago

Yeah reddit is full of bots again, I actually felt the data center thug for a few days.

1

u/klownhammer 16h ago

It is not an actual car. It is a platform with a car shaped shell glued on top of it.

1

u/CilleTheExterminator 11h ago

https://reddit.com/link/phab84a/video/d6ex2yybj0wh1/player

Well when the CEO is a fucking Nazi then yeah don't be surprised when people don't give a single fuck about a thing that is nothing but performative so his little moronic nazi followers can buy into his nazi company

1

u/Utopian_Pigeon 11h ago

It’s a cool tech demo. They engineered a car to be sonic the hedgehog. Fascinated if they can actually jump that canyon though.

Is it practical? No. Is it neat and something out of cyberpunk but actually out of cyberpunk? Yes. Would that ever be street legal? Not with the build they showed.

It feels like a crazy skunkworks project even though I’m sure Elon was breathing down their necks.

1

u/Outrageous_Driver477 6h ago

What do you expect from the hive.

1

u/Petarthefish 17h ago

If i jump am i flying?

-5

u/PIE-314 18h ago edited 18h ago

I mean. Swasti-car v2 is fukin lame not cool and it's not a flying car.

11

u/Gullible_Process6391 18h ago

Literally this

6

u/ZookeepergameFew8607 18h ago

They're so sad

3

u/Zromaus 17h ago

You’re emotionally blinded.

0

u/PIE-314 17h ago

You’re emotionally blinded.

Lol. You have no taste. Please explain. It's very clearly not a flying car. It's a useless gimmick.

0

u/Rich_Instance 18h ago

Good job editing your reply to make people that respond to you look bad

0

u/PIE-314 18h ago

The only people who look bad, are gooning over swasti-car v2. I thought the post deserved the edit for accuracy reasons.

-6

u/chill_lax_bruh 18h ago

Ah I see the Elon bots are out lol

It's fucking useless and will kill people just like Tesla autopilot if it comes out. The Aerocar came out in 1949 and actually had certifications for airworthiness. This is a stunt meant to prop up Tesla stock.

5

u/Hamstaaboy 18h ago

It was an engineering demo, theyre not making this. How do people not understand that much atleast

1

u/chill_lax_bruh 1h ago

Is it a demonstration if no one was even piloting the mule car? It's a stunt to increase the stock price.

Also what is the point of Tesla using thrusters, there's no practical application. Space X already lands rockets, this is just stupid.

-3

u/ChatGrou 18h ago

Nowadays you could have free personnal spaceships, peoples would complain that they cannot go further than our solar system lol.

" i'm worth more than that ! Wake me when i can go to Aldebaran!"
