It is performative... it looks cool but beyond that what does it do? Great, now cars can do a kick-flip.
0 u/Balogunned 4h ago Ok. Thatβs every stunt ever. 0 u/CurvySexretLady 3h ago Right? Too bad we didn't have reddit back when Evil Knivel was wasting his money doing crazy motorcycle stunts so that reddit could tell us how it was all just a waste on a performative spectacle. 1 u/KathrynBooks 40m ago Evil Knivel was a stunt man putting on a performance... Not some psycho billionaire trying to play Tony Stark 1 u/CurvySexretLady 28m ago So when Evel Knievel spends money putting on elaborate, dangerous stunts for an audience, it's entertainment. But when Tesla puts on an elaborate stunt demonstrating its technology, suddenly we're supposed to be outraged that it's performative? Sounds like your objection isn't really to the spectacle. It's to who's putting it on. π 1 u/KathrynBooks 6m ago Because they are both performances... Knivel was just honest about it. This isn't some amazing leap in technology, this is a marketing gimmick by someone who has spent years making people's life worse. 1 u/CurvySexretLady 4m ago So at least we agree they're both performances. Glad we cleared that up. Now apparently Evel Knievel was "honest" about his stunts, but Tesla isn't? What exactly was dishonest about demonstrating a car performing a stunt in front of an audience? Whether you personally dislike Musk doesn't somehow make the demonstration less impressive or the engineering team at Tesla behind it worthless. π
